Summary

The HEA you've been waiting for...

Just because you're damaged doesn't mean you can't be fixed.

At twenty-nine, Luke Black is a college drop out, a has-been musician, a widower, a dead-beat dad and an ex-con. On paper, the man doesn’t have a redeeming quality. But in his heart he’s still searching for one thing—“normal”.

All twenty-four-year-old Cocanda Rose has ever known is “normal”. And all she’s ever sought out is something that’ll make her mundane life just a bit more exciting. The rocker she fell for has broken her spirit and shattered her heart more times than she can count. Despite it all, she’s like a moth to a flame and has deemed herself irrevocably damaged. But there’s one person who has the potential to pick up the pieces. He’s her life-long neighbor, her best friend’s ex and the town pariah. He’s also the last person she ever thought she’d end up with.

In the final installment of the Lewiston Blues Series, F.X. Scully picks up the pieces of Luke Black’s life. But not without some hiccups along the way.

The Way I See It
So, yea…I’m pretty flipping emotional right now. Ive said this before and I’ll say it again Scully’s writing is gritty. No kittens puppies or bunnies to be found. She promises and HEA and she delivers one, all the while staying true to form “keeping it real” as they say. This is the 3rd book in the series and I was really wanting Luke to wake up get his crap together take back whats rightfully his…UGH! he doesn’t do that!!! I wanted to shake him so many times its not funny. Yet at the same time my heart truly broke for him he is such a good man and his life is total garbo as for Coco I was like WHAT? Once I began reading the book it really worked these two mesh together very well. I have so much invested in these characters it feels like i’ve actually experienced the past 20 (fictional) years with them. I want the picket fence with the 2.5 kids and everything in between for everyone!

B-ereft, Luke never thought his life would be the way it is he has given up so much he has nothing left and he feels as though there is nothing left.
L-ove, Coco has always been with one person he is the only person she has known in this capacity Dash may not be everyones ideal partner for her but she cant walk away.
A-lone, Ross is finally doing something for himself Luke cannot bare to pull him away from his new life even if its all he wants to do.
C-onfrontation, Luke has thought through everything he has, even swallowed his pride to ask his father for a favor but all of his efforts are in vain. Vindictive, and vile Luke’s father has no intention of doing the right thing.
K-indling, for so long Luke and Coco have been friends now as neighbors they begin to discover much more.

R-eality, Luke has been so lost for so long his fight is all but waisted loyal to a fault he refuses to understand that ne needs to move on.
O-pinions, Coco is beyond tired of everyone one telling her who she should be with. Commitment isn’t easy and she is prepared to tough things out.
S-igns, knowing life has much more to offer Luke takes a giant leap. Exposing his heart has never been easy but the possibility of love pushes him forward.
E-asy, Luke never thought he would find peace but Coco does that for him she has mended his heart in a way he never imagined possible.

Like I stated earlier this isn’t your typical HEA its def done Skully style. Which means…simply put real and gritty. If you enjoy fiction doused and drenched w/ reality then this series is absolutely for you! There aren’t any magic tricks all of the characters take forever to learn and nothing is ever easy. Even 14 years later!! Shhhhh is waiting to hit the fan! I don’t agree with a lot of the choices a lot of the characters make but the same holds true with the choices people make in my day to day life. I wish I had gotten some closer w a couple of characters but hey it all adds to the mystery right?

About the Author

F.X. Scully loves romance, but she doesn't write your typical Happily Ever After. Because let's face it, in the real world, it can sometimes take a lot of angst and pain before you get there. And some of us never do. But since most of us pick up books to escape the real world, her stories don't lack hot boyfriends and sexy encounters. Neither will she leave you completely heart broken, sobbing into a tub of ice cream. Rest assured you'll be on a roller coaster, but you'll be glad you went along for the ride.

F.X. is the author of TWO THOUSAND 3 (November 2013) and BECAUSE OF LUKE (February 2014).

  4. I love that the author is willing to write a realistic HEA ending, not just a perfect finish tied up in a bow. Sounds like a fabulous and edgy story! Lovely review Ria :)
