Synopsis:

I don’t have a damn thing in common with the beautiful rich girl who walks in to my bar. She’s southern class, fancy cars, and designer shoes.

I’ve got a drunk for a mother, a cheater for a father, and a reputation for trouble I’ve more than earned.

I look the other way, pretending I don’t notice how perfect she is. She wouldn’t give me the time of day anyway. Until she shatters that first impression and shows me she’s so much more––everything I never thought I deserved.

After a lifetime of being a disappointment, I want to prove to her that I’m better than my past.

We have one tragic thing in common, and the thread that binds us together will tear us apart as it unravels.

Are we strong enough to break through the Bars Between Us?

Review:

Undisputed is the book that made me discover author A.S. Teague. It feels just like yesterday that I read her debut novel. Two books and a novella later, she's back with The Bars Between Us. A standalone contemporary romance that captivated me from beginning to end. Her amazing writing style and her fantastic characters kept me turning the pages until past my bedtime.

Grace Monroe is ready for a new start. She finds it when her nursing career brings her to Beaufort. She's determined to create new memories and meeting Bronnson Williams is a moment she will never forget. This bar owner is pushing all her buttons when he judges her the first time they meet. She's determined to get under his skin and break all of his rules. Grace is about to knock every one of his walls down. She's strong, stubborn and exactly the kind of woman Bronn needs in his life. Life is full of unexpected moments for Grace and Bronn. Will they be able to give their love a chance when one unexpected moment turns their life upside down?

Grace and Bronn are two interesting characters. Their relationship might have started on the wrong foot, but the following days were filled with beautiful, intense, passionate and emotional moments between them. Their chemistry was chill inducing and their attraction to each other turned into a beautiful love story that left them both breathless. Grace is the kind of heroine I love to cheer for. She did not stop knocking those walls that were surrounding Bronn's heart. He was so numb before Grace walked into his life. She's everything he's ever wanted, but never expected to have in his life. She's like a soothing balm for his emotional scars. Her love is everything that he needs to keep on going forward.

I really had an amazing reading escape with these characters. From the emotional prologue to the heart-melting epilogue, this story is one you do not want to miss! I really hope the author considers to write a book for Bronn's sister. Dani is a wonderful heroine that put a smile on my face. I loved the way she took care of Bronn and how she was his mother figure when he needed her the most.

Rating:

I give, The Bars Between Us, by A.S. Teague, 4.5 emotional, fascinating, heart-melting stars!

When she doesn’t have a book in her hand, she can be found pestering her husband with pictures of animals she wants to rescue, as well as debating whether to exercise or take a nap.

Synopsis:

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.

He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.

When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.

You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend--smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.

He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done.

Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.

Only it turned out, the man I'd just told off wasn't the right guy.

Oops. My mistake.

Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.

I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?

That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.

Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.

I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.

Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West.

This was going to be interesting…

Rachel is in big trouble. The man she just insulted at the bar? Turns out he's her new boss. For the next fifteen weeks, she will be assisting Professor Caine West. As days go by, Rachel and Caine share sexy, tender and emotional moments together that will change their lives forever.

Rachel and Caine's chemistry was intense! From the hilarious first encounter to the emotional ending that wraps up their beautiful love story, these two characters embarked on a roller coaster ride that made them live many different emotions.

Excerpt:

I’m hit by a storm of desire to kiss him better. It’s a tornado, an avalanche in my body, and in one breathless moment, I decide to go for it. It’s okay. I can take the blame for it later.

I break the rules and reach up and kiss him. A feathery peck on his plump lips, it’s a kiss of solidarity, a kiss that intends to tell him I understand—but one isn’t enough. It only manages to ratchet up my lust.

So I give him another, this time on the corner of his mouth, and then another one on his jaw.

It’s not enough, these small, barely-there touches. I want more, but I won’t take it. I’ll be good; I’ll only give.

Abruptly, he fists my curls and stops me. I look at him fearfully, ready to apologize—not for the kiss, but for being the kisser. His gaze reflects passion, stark, raving need, and I shiver, despite wearing layers and sweating with his heat.

“Are you trying to kiss me, Layla?” he rasps, flexing his fingers on my makeshift ponytail.

He couldn’t tell? Blush rises to the surface and I know I’m glowing like a neon sign. Swallowing, I nod.

“Yes.”

He inches closer to me, still not touching—as impossible as that is—but infinitely closer. “You want to kiss me, Miss Robinson, you do it right.”

Oh God, does he have to call me that? Now, here? My spine arches on its own and my heavy tits graze the contours of his shuddering chest.

“H-How?” I ask innocently, belying the daring action of my body. His stern, professor-y voice is doing things to me, making me wild, uncontrolled.

For a second, he’s silent, just watching. I’m afraid he’ll back out from whatever this is, whatever insanity we’re about to commit—but then I sense the shift in the liquor-laced air as he opens his mouth and growls, “Like this.”

About the Author:

Writer of bad romances. Coffee Addict. White Russian Drinker. Imaginary Ballet Dancer and poetess. Aspiring Lana Del Ray of the book world.

I'm a big believer in love (obviously). I believe in happily ever after, the butterflies and the tingling. But I also believe in edgy, rough and gutsy kind of love. I believe in pushing the boundaries, darker (sometimes morally ambiguous) emotions and imperfections.

The kind of love I write about is flawed just like my characters. And I hope by the end of it, you'll come to root for them just as much as me. Because love, no matter where it comes from, is always pure and beautiful.

Synopsis:

Vivi Renard—a blast from the past—wasn’t supposed to affect me like this.

When I knew her ten years ago she was nothing more to me than a highly functioning brain.

Hell, I paid her to do my homework.

Only now … she’s drop dead gorgeous but had the nerve to turn me down for a date … several times.

No one turns me—Prescott Beckham—down for anything.

I’m on a mission and won’t stop until I’m firmly planted between her thighs, hearing her moan my name.

Her plump red lips have me dreaming filthy things and acting like a kid with his first crush.

If I can’t have her, I don’t want anyone else to either.

What’s worse is I want to own every single bit of her.

Except there’s a slight problem.

Vivi can’t stand me.

Even the old let’s be friends again thing failed.

She tossed it back saying we were never friends to begin with.

But I’m the king at playing ruthless games.

So she’d better be ready to drop her thong, because Vivi is going to end up in my bed sooner … or later.

And I’m pretty damn sure it’s going to be sooner.

Excerpt:

Vivi rubs her hands on her thighs. She’s nervous and has been ever since I stood over the table. She seems to have more confidence in herself now than she had when I knew her but that doesn’t account for her skittishness. Back at Crestview, she had been overweight—I knew that—only I didn’t know, or maybe I didn’t pay attention, to the other girls giving her a hard time. And why should I have? I had so much going on in my head I could barely keep my own shit together.

“So?” I prod. “Homework binder?”

“You did a pretty good job with me. I only figured you put the other girls in the same boat. You know, with the homework stuff and all.”

“I had you wrapped around my homework binder at Crestview. That’s your metaphor for finger.”

It’s not a question. I’m baffled because I had no idea. Yeah, I was a flirt, but I flirted with everyone to get what was necessary. It was the only way I knew how to accomplish my goals. She needed the money and always acted like she had no interest in me whatsoever.

“Of course. You had everyone wrapped around your finger. Well, maybe more of them were wrapped around your, um.” She points in the direction of my dick. Sexy little Vivi can’t say dick out loud. Isn’t that the cutest thing in the world? “Say it, Vivi.”

“Say what?”

“You know what.” I lean into her and get close to her lips. “Say it.” Her chest puffs out as she says, “Dick.” Her lovely neck flushes pink and two bright spots of fuchsia dot her cheeks. This is sweet innocence at its utmost.

“Excellent. Now say cock.” I put a great deal of emphasis on the “c” and “k” at the end of the word. Silver gray irises turn stormy and deep creases form on her forehead.

“Why would you want me to say that word?”

“Because it makes you uncomfortable as hell and I’m an asshole. I like to see you squirm, Vivi.”

“I won’t say that. It has nothing to do with truth or dare. And besides, it’s my turn.” I take a couple of good slugs of my drink, sit back, and cross my arms. “Do your worst.”

She puts an elbow on the table and rests her cheek on her hand. “Truth or dare?”

“Dare.” It’s impossible not to laugh at her comical expression. I curtailed her plans.

“You can’t do that!”

“Do what?”

“Pick dare.”

“I most certainly can.”

Her head tilts back, and I can only imagine what she’s thinking. A chuckle escapes.

“You’re a jerk,” she says.

“So I’ve been told.”

“Okay, then. I dare you to tell me why you loathe the man you’ve become.” She gloats at the clever way she’s twisted the game. And stupid me should’ve figured out she’d come up with something like this. Vivi was always brilliant.

“Loathe is extreme. Let’s say I’m not particularly fond of who I am right now.”

“Fine. Go on.”

Now I’m the one who’s squirming. Where do I even begin? Vivi is almost a stranger to me. There’s no way I can bare my pathetic soul to her.

“I have daddy issues.”

“Really?” Her question is one of disbelief and she appears to be holding back a laugh.

“Hard to believe, isn’t it?”

“Um, yeah. Prescott Beckham, the guy with the world at his fingertips, has daddy issues? I think not. I Googled you after I ran into you that day. From all accounts I read there were no daddy issues to be found. Nada. Try again.”

“I have a team that keeps my secrets out of the media. You wouldn’t find anything on me. But it’s true. I grew up without a mom and my father was not much of one. So, there you have it.” I give her one of my best smirks. It usually does the trick on most women.

She leans back and tucks her chin closer to her body. “That’s it? And I’m supposed to buy that?”

“That’s all I have for sale, Little Wolf. Sorry.”

“You’re not a very fair player.”

“My turn.”

“Nope. I’m done.” She drinks another swig of her beer.

“No, you aren’t. I’m picking for you. Truth. How many men have you fucked, Vivi? And what exactly have they done to you?”

She shoves her arms into her coat and pushes at me to get out of the booth. But I have zero intentions of going anywhere. “Let me out, Prescott.” “Not until you answer me.”

“That’s none of your business. How many women have you been with?”

“Too many to count.”

Her jaw flops open and I close her mouth with a finger under her chin.

“You asked, Little Wolf.”

Review:

Chasing Vivi is the third book I read from A.M. Hargrove and like always, it was a wonderful reading journey. After reading the blurb, I knew that this was a story that I was going to enjoy. Don’t even get me started on the cover ... HOT!!! I had no problem imagining Prescott and his sexy ways after seeing that cover.

Many things have happened to Vivi Renard since she left high school. Her world has been turned upside down by emotional and difficult moments. The last thing she expected was to come face-to-face with Prescott Beckham. Sexy and charismatic as always, Prescott tries to convince her to go on a date with him. She said so many times, but he never stops asking. He’s the same Prescott from high school. Mr. Popular who has ladies falling at his feet. Her physical appearance changed, but Vivi’s opinion of Prescott remains the same. He’s trying to seduce her and then he will move on to his next conquest. Until Prescott proves her wrong. Prescott not only wants passionate and unforgettable moments with her, he wants it all. Will she give him a chance?

Vivi and Prescott were an interesting couple to follow. I have to admit that I did not like Prescott at the beginning of this story. It took me a few chapters to finally connect with him. I finally did when his walls started to crumble and he opened up about his family situation and about how important Vivi was becoming in his life. At the beginning, it was all about the sexual tension between them and he would work his magnetic charm on her. I loved how his character evolved in this story and how deeply he fell for Vivi.

Vivi is a heroine that left me with a smile on my face. She was a joy to follow and I was cheering and sending good vibes her way. She’s been struggling since her mom passed away and to find comfort and protection in Prescott’s arms was one of the best things to happen to her.

The chemistry between Vivi and Prescott was hot!! It was a slow burn romance, but the tension between them was explosive from the beginning. I loved the supporting cast of characters. They all had a specific role in Vivi and Prescott’s life and they added so much to this story. It’s very important for me to not only connect to the main characters, but to the supporting characters as well. The writing style was fantastic and I look forward to reading more books by A.M. Hargrove.

Rating:

I give, Chasing Vivi, 4 passionate and sexy stars!
