GR's Summary:

When Rex Renaud, the COO of Mercier Shipping, is arrested for a crime he didn't commit, he knows he'll need a miracle to clear his name … and sassy lawyer Charlotte Andreko is the perfect woman for the job.

Charlotte has built her career defending pro bono clients against womanizers like Rex Renaud, and she'd much rather let him sweat it out in a jail cell than defend him in court. Yet Rex swears he's been set up, and when he offers her a shocking sum of money in exchange for her legal counsel, the financial security is too tempting to resist. The court dubs Rex a serious flight risk—how many people have their own jet?—and he's released on one condition: Charlotte's his new jailer, and he's stuck with her until his arraignment.

But when a bomb threat sends Rex and Charlotte on the run, neither is prepared for the explosive chemistry and red-hot passion that flare between them as they hunt for the truth about his arrest.

My Thoughts:

I haven't read any books by Gwen Jones, but knew that I had to read, The Laws of Seduction, when I saw the sexy book cover, and read the intriguing book synopsis.  All of her books look so good, and I am a huge fan of Avon Impulse, so I was eager to try out a new-to-me-author!

Sexy Frenchman, Rex Renaud, finds himself in hot water, when he is unjustly accused of sexual assault.  It becomes clear that someone powerful is framing him when his cell phone, which holds the key to his innocence, disappears from evidence.  The problem is, Rex has many enemies, as he is a wealthy, ruthless, womanizing businessman.

He hires Charlotte, a successful feminist lawyer, to defend him for a large sum of money.  At first, Charlotte, thinks that he is guilty of the crime committed, but then quickly realizes his innocence, when she see's that they are being followed.  Charlotte is determined to help him uncover the conspiracy, but is very aware that danger lurks in every corner.  Things get complicated when Rex and Charlotte's steamy attraction turns to a sexual relationship.  Is this just a convenient temporary arrangement, or could it be love?

The Laws of Seduction can be read as a standalone.  However, some of the secondary characters were from previous books in the series, and I didn't know a whole lot about them.  I loved how Ms. Jones wove French in throughout the story.  It made Rex's character that much more sexy and seductive!  I love a man with an accent, and French is one of the languages of love.  Ms. Jones wrote spectacular love scenes!  Ever word was like an aphrodisiac, and every one of these scenes packed a powerful punch throughout the story.  I appreciated the fun and flirty banter between the main characters which added a light hearted and fun quality to the story.

I think the plot could have been more suspenseful.  There were a few little plot twists along the way, but I would have liked to see more action and danger in the story.  Overall, I would say that reading my first book by Ms. Jones was a pleasurable experience, and I am looking forward to reading more of her books.

My Rating:

I give, The Laws of Seduction, by Gwen Jones, 3.5 Wickedly Erotic, Sexy Debonair Frenchman Filled Stars!!!

My Favorite Quote:

Lindy & Mikki's Review of
I Want It That Way HERE

Lindy's Review of
As Long As You Love Me HERE

Lindy's Thoughts:

I can't believe, The Shape of My Heart, is the last book in the 2B series!  I've been really excited to read Max and Courtney's story, especially due to the fact that he was left brokenhearted by Lauren.  Max has been one of my favorite characters in this series from the very beginning, and I have been rooting for him to get his "happily ever after."  After reading Max's story, I love him even more!!!

Max and Courtney are really close friends.  The spend all of their free time together, confide in each other, and know one another better than anyone else.  Courtney has been there for Max when he went through his unrequited crush on Lauren, and helped him heal.  She is attracted to Max, but thinks that a man as gorgeous and amazing as he is has put her officially in the "friend zone."  When Max asks Courtney to travel with him to his home town for his grandfather's funeral, she is reluctant because of her feelings towards him, but agrees to be there for her friend.  This trip ends up transforming their relationship, and brings them closer to each other due to the intimacy that they end up sharing.  Can Max and Courtney be more than friends, or will Max's feelings of not being worthy of Courtney get in the way?

I enjoyed, The Shape of My Heart so much!  I loved seeing both strength and vulnerability in Max's character.  He was a very sensitive person, and didn't let others see the real him.  Yet, with Courtney he was comfortable being himself.  Courtney was another great character.  She was strong, loyal, and funny.  She made huge character growth, and learned how to break away from her controlling parents, and be independent, and self sufficient.  Max and Courtney had such a strong and deep friendship, that is was the perfect foundation for a romance.  I am a huge fan of the friends to lovers trope, and this one was completely satisfying.  There was romance, sexual chemistry, depth, and a beautiful love story.

I was happy that there were appearances made by Nadia and Ty, as well as Angus, and a few new characters.  I loved learning more about both Max and Courtney's pasts, and they both went through tragedy in order to become the wonderful people they presently are.  I loved meeting some of Max's family, especially his younger brother, Michael.  This story was a great ending to the trilogy, and can be read as a standalone.

My Rating:

I give, The Shape of My Heart, by Ann Aguirre, 4 Intimate Moments,  Beautifully Unbreakable, Romantic, Love Blossoming Filled Stars!!!

Mikki's Review:

Reading the 2B Trilogy, by Ann Aguirre, as been a really fun reading journey! Beautiful book covers, fun book titles, enjoyable characters and well written stories that keep you turning the pages. Ann Aguirre saved the best for last! I have been cheering for Max since the very beginning and I could not wait to read his book! This book can be read as a standalone.

I love stories about friends falling in love. Courtney and Max's story was fun, romantic and passionate. They complete each other perfectly! Both these characters have gone though a lot in their respective lives. When Max's goes back home for a funeral, he asks Courtney to go with him. She's not too sure what to think of that, but one thing she knows is that she won't let Max down. She's always there to listen to him and help him out. The more time they spend together on this trip, the more their feelings turn more than just friendship.

I really loved how this story was written. These characters have been favourites of mine and I was happy with the development of their story. It was a slow building romance between Courtney and Max, but you could feel the intense chemistry that they had together. Max opened up about his past and what made him run. My heart broke for him. I'm so happy his trip back home turned out to bring him so much more than what he expected.

Courtney was such a fun character to follow. She was easy to relate to. I connected with her more than I did with Nadia and Lauren in the previous books. I love her personality!! Her character grew a lot during this story and I was so proud of her! I was mad at her for keeping a secret from Max when in return he was an open book to her. But, it lasted like five minutes and I went back to cheering for her ... lol!!

Max and Courtney had an amazing chemistry together and the tender, fun, passionate moments that they share made this friendship grow into a beautiful love story. I loved the addition of new characters in this book. Michael, which is Max's little brother especially stole my heart! He's such a sweetheart!

Rating:

I give, The Shape of My Heart, by Ann Aguirre 4 fun, romantic, page-turning, friends-to-lovers stars!

So when Kylie tells him that she’s pregnant after their night of passion, he’s at a complete loss. He’s prepared to be a good father—unlike his own deadbeat dad—but he’s less prepared to fall for the genuine and alluring blonde bearing his child.

My Thoughts:

I have been reading the True Believers Series by Erin McCarthy since the very first book, True, was set to be released.  I love these characters, and each story is very special to me.  They can all be read as a standalone, but I think it's much better to read them as a series.  The girls in the series, Rory, Jessica, Robin, and Kylie are best friends in college.

In Shatter, we get Kylie and Jonathan's love story.  Kylie has been having a horrible year.  She found out that her long-term boyfriend, Nathan, cheated on her with her good friend Robin, and then continued trying to pursue Robin.  She is heartbroken, and lonely, now that she is living on her own, after moving out because it was uncomfortable for her to be around Robin.  To top it off, she can't concentrate in her classes, and is failing Chemistry.  She hires a tutor, and is surprised by the fact that he doesn't look like your stereotypical nerd.  Sure he wears glasses and is a genus, but he is also really handsome, has a tattoo sleeve, and a sense of humor.  One thing leads to another and the two have a one night stand, leading to an unexpected pregnancy.  As things get complicated, and the unexpected happens, will Kylie and Jonathan get their happily ever after?

I loved Shatter.  Jonathan was a unique love interest.  He was sexy, intelligent, funny, and good in bed, but he was also a bit of a genus, too logical at times, and had to learn how female speak.  Some of the things he said and did had me wanting to give him advice.  He really needed some tips!  Yet, at the same time, he had a huge heart, and really grew to love Kylie.  He cherished her, and treated her how every man should treat a woman.  He was the farthest thing from a bad boy, and yet he made me swoon repeatedly with his caring, thoughtfulness, genuine way about him. and how he was always someone Kylie could count on.  I'm so happy that Kylie finally found a man worthy of her.  She may have her ditzy moments, who doesn't?  Yet, she is so sweet, loyal, loving, and a glass full kind of girl.

The chemistry between Kylie and Jonathan was steaming hot!  What woman doesn't appreciate a man that takes his time, and puts his woman first!  The emotionality of the story was beautiful and authentic.  Their was angst, sadness, joy, and hope!  This story will resonate with anyone who's every thought that they've been in love, had their heart broken, and then got another chance to see what real love is all about.

My Rating:

I give, Shatter, by Erin McCarthy, 4 My Head Was Glued to this Book, Sweet, Romantic, Sexy, and Swoon Filled Stars!  You will be happy to know that we get plenty of Rory, Tyler, Jessica, and Riley in this story!  The Epilogue was a wonderful feel good ending!  If you enjoy new adult romance, I highly recumbent the True Believers Series!!!

My Favorite Quote:

" 'I want a life partner, not a lab partner, do you understand?  The day I met you was the best day of my life.'  He cupped my chin and stared into my eyes. 'I never believed in destiny, fate, soul mates.  It was illogical to me.  Then I met you.  And I realized that in this infinite universe with its massive complexity of matter, that two people could be destined to find one another and make sense out of what is otherwise a meaningless micro existence, a mere nanosecond of cosmic time.  That you and I were drawn to each other not by evolution, but by something that can't be measured.  Love.' Book Review: The Mausoleum Road Affair by Patricia Miller

The Mausoleum Road Affair
by
Patricia Miller
Pub November 4th 2014
by Swoon Romance

Summary
The Mausoleum Road Affair has been likened to a more erotic BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY.

Frustrated mother of two, Brianne Hunter, escapes her bland life in rural Fennelton by embarking on a weekend away shopping with her best friend. On the drive to her friend Darlene’s estate, Brianne crashes her Jeep off the Mausoleum Road, and makes her way, bleeding and injured, to a stone ranch seeking help. There she encounters Dr. Robert Moss, whose spouse is in Europe spending their money. Thus begins an immediate attraction, and a wildly sensual coupling that essentially changes them both.

When the weekend tryst ends, Brianne returns home to the demands of her predictable life. Shortly thereafter, life-changing losses occur for both Brianne and Dr. Moss. Then comes the day when Dr. Moss pays Brianne a house call, attempting to reignite their union; however, a revelation he delivers may be more than Brianne can accept. Yet Brianne cannot deny her heart’s passion, and returns to the ranch to deliver a disclosure of her own. In the end, the pair must decide if they will follow their passionate fate together or not.

A Weekend of Surrender Proves to Be Much More
The Mausoleum Road Affair was a sweet book. The main characters hit it off and their banter was really cute. Some of the things they said were a bit corny so if you like sweet with a bit of cheese then this one is for you. I really enjoyed the story I was curious to see the dynamic between these two. Their attraction seemed sincere and full of passion even though they both knew what they were doing was wrong there was nothing getting in the way of their passion.

Brianne was traveling to visit her friend then crashed her vehicle bloody and injured she ends up on Roberts door step. Ive never read a book where the main characters are the ones who cheat so I was super curious about this one. Yes they were both very much married but Ms. Miller still made them extremely likable even through their indiscretions. Not to mention all of the pain these two are harboring due to their current spouses. No one ever made any justifications they owned up to what they were doing and were willing to accept the repercussions. We are introduced to several characters all whom were relatable and real. Brianne and Roberts connection wasn’t something either would soon forget their weekend was supposed to only be a blip but they gave their hearts away that weekend and their life would never be the same.

Returning back to their respective lives would come with some pretty shocking surprises. Their paths cross again and Robert will fight for what they have. As painful as some of the things that have happened Brianne comes to her own realization. For a moment I didn’t think these two would find a way to be together but it works out for them and I was happy to see it happen. This was a sweet fun and super quick read. I recommend it for anyone that likes romance and fate working seamlessly together.

My Rating
3.5 Jeep, Road, Scar, Blood, Sketch, Horses, Antiques, Flower Shop, Pizza, Train Tracks, Limo, Years, Delivery, Visit, Confessions, Son, Daughter, Hope, Promise, an enduring Love to last a life time filled stars!!!
