Synopsis:

Left or right.

It’s that simple, and it isn’t simple at all.

If I turn left, the road will lead me back to the man I promised my life to, the one I’d imagined building a family with, the one who’s done everything in his power to get me back.

If I turn right, the road will take me to the man I loved first, the man who brought me back to life, the man who would do anything to keep me.

I knew the fork in the road was inevitable; it was the decision I never wanted to make between choices I didn't know I had.

And I love them both.

My heart is destined to exist in two equal halves — one with each man. But one half beats stronger, the vein running deepest, and holds my choice in silence long before I know it for myself.

The realization of what I have to do, of the heart I have to break, just might break mine too.

Left or right.

All I have to do is take a breath and turn.

Review:

When I finished reading What He Always Knew, I was so torn!!! My heart was beating so fast and I was left on the edge of my seat because I wanted to find out what Charlie's decision would be. The author wrote a fantastic conclusion for this duet and I'm really happy that I made the What He Doesn't Know Duet my first read by Kandi Steiner. Her writing style is amazing and I got hooked on  her words from the moment I read the first page of this duet.

Since this is a duet series, you absolutely need to read the first book to follow the story in What He Always Knew. The story picks up exactly where it ended in What He Doesn't Know. Prepare the chocolate and the tissues because you're going to need them! Gah!!! This book made me feel so many things!!! I either wanted to hi-five Charlie, virtually shake her or reach out and give her a hug. Angst lovers will devour this duet in no time!

I don't want to give anything away about the conclusion to Cameron, Charlie and Reese's journey. My heart broke for Charlie many times during this reading journey, but for Cameron and Reese as well. Charlie needed to make a decision between two wonderful men who own a piece of her heart. You could feel the strong love that Cameron and Reese feel for Charlie and how they will do anything to make her happy. I kept on switching from Team Cameron to Team Reese for a good portion of the book. I could not make up my mind!!!! Until something happened in the story and I knew that Charlie belonged with _______!!! You will need to read to find out who she ends up with! ;)

I absolutely loved my reading journey and will without a doubt be following Kandi Steiner to know what she will be working on next. I highly recommend this duet if you have never read Kandi Steiner before. Her writing style will captivate you from beginning to end!

Rating:

I give, What He Always Knew, by Kandi Steiner, 4.5 mesmerizing, emotional, nail-biting, left or right stars!

Excerpt:

“That’s quite a list.” Cole nodded toward the journal in between bites.

“It is.” My smile faltered at the way his jaw hardened.

“Are you planning on doing these all by yourself?”

“Um, yes.” How else was I going to get through them all?

“That’s going to take a while.”

“I hope not,” I sighed. “My goal is to get them done before New Year’s.”

“What?” His spoon dropped into the jar, clinking against the glass. “That’s less than six months away.”

“I know.” Just thinking about all I still had to do made my shoulders fall. “I thought I could do it, but with the restaurant and some of the bigger things on the list, it will take longer. I was really hoping to have it done before Jamie’s birthday.”

That seemed impossible now. With the restaurant and all of the other things I was adding to my daily schedule, piling on more was going to wear me thin. If I didn’t let up, my self-imposed deadline would stress me to the max.

Which meant it would take just that much longer to put this list behind me. Could I do it if I added another year? Maybe two?

I didn’t have to do this all so soon. But I wanted to. I wanted to do this for Jamie and let it go. Every day, I was getting stronger. I was getting back on my feet. I was starting to live again—for me.

And until the list was done, I’d still be living for Jamie.

“Look.” Cole leaned his elbows on the table. “I don’t want to step on your toes. This is an awesome list and he had some cool ideas. If you want to do them on your own, I understand. I get that this is incredibly personal. But if you’d like, I’d be glad to help you with some of these.

“What?” I didn’t know what made me smile more. That he thought Jamie’s list was cool or that he wanted to help. Regardless, I was beaming. “You’d really help?”

Cole’s eyes were sparkling again. “In a heartbeat.”

Excerpt:

Who has Elijah been kidding? He preferred my dusty, cluttered Christmas-themed apartment to this place? This…millionaire family man’s respite on the water? No. No, he’s been avoiding his life. Back in his office, I had the fleeting realization that Elijah had been staying with me—in year-round Christmas—to avoid reality. And what happened with Naomi. That theory cements itself now. Hard. He’s been hiding away with me. I’ve been giving him an excuse to hide. A place to do it.

This is where he belongs. Not with me.

I’m holding him back.

My vision blurs as I close the door behind me. With the click still hanging in the air, I slump into a cross-legged position on the floor. Beneath my fingertips, the floor is smooth and rich, even through a layer of dust. This place is unfamiliar to me, yet I don’t feel like a stranger. Because it’s so Elijah, right down to the masculine class and robust ceiling beams. It’s a false sense of comfort, though, because he can’t have this place and me as a friend. It was easy to pretend in my out-of-the-way two-bedroom, but this? This is a life to be embraced.

There will be a wife and kids in this place one day. There might even be a chance for Elijah to win back Naomi. But not as long as I’m spending time with him. Causing people to whisper about us and speculate. Allowing him to avoid his future.

I’m hurting him. I have to let him go. But not before I fix everything.

Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

Synopsis:

Who knew things could get even darker and dirtier in New Orleans? New York Times bestselling author Meghan March introduces the Savage Prince of the city, the man you never want to meet.

I do what I want and who I want. I don’t follow anyone’s rules—even my own.

I knew I shouldn’t touch her, but it didn’t stop me.
Didn’t stop me the second time either. Only made me want a third.

My lifestyle suits the savage I am, and she doesn’t.

But Temperance Ransom is my newest addiction, and I’m nowhere near ready to quit her yet.

I’ll have her my way, even if it means dragging her into the darkness.

Hopefully it doesn’t kill us both.

Savage Prince is book one of the Savage Trilogy, set in the same world as Ruthless King, however you do not need to read the Mount Trilogy to devour this scandalously hot new story.

Excerpt:

My gaze searches the darkness, interrupted only by the Chinese lanterns and fairy lights hanging from the trees, until it lands on the red dragon emblazoned on the back of a black silk kimono, topped by a fluffy white head of hair.

Shit. My landlady.

“I’m so sorry to disturb you, Harriet. I’ll just—”

She spins around, spry for her advanced age. “Oh, girl, you’ve got sex hair. At least that makes one of us.”

I squeeze my eyes shut in humiliation. “I . . . uh . . . got—”

“Done up right by a real man, I’d say. About damn time, girl. I was starting to think you were a lost cause of all work and no play. Almost wondered if I’d have to find a new tenant to get some entertainment around here.”

I blink twice as she shuffles toward me, fluffy pink marabou slippers on her feet. “You were going to kick me out because I work too much?”

I knew my landlady was a little nutty, but I didn’t realize she was downright crazy.

“It would’ve been a last resort. I was going to send you a male stripper first. Girl, you need some fun in your life, and you do nothing but go between here and work. Boring as hell.”

Her point is finally sinking in, but part of me is still in shock. “I’m boring?”

“Of course you are. I swear, you go out of your way to stay that way too. But not tonight. Tonight, you look like you got dicked down by a real man.” She takes a seat at the outdoor patio table and reaches for a bottle of wine. “Here’s a glass. Now, sit down and consider part of your rent spilling the juicy details.”

Dumbstruck, I close the distance between us and take a seat at the table. “It’s nothing. I swear.”

“Girl, you’re practically walking bowlegged. I’ve been around the block plenty of times. You won’t shock me.”

I reach for the glass of wine and take a long drink. Good Lord, I needed this.

“I shouldn’t even be admitting what I did tonight.”

Harriet’s aged eyes practically light up as she grins. “Those are the best stories. Come now, I’ll take it to the grave.”

I squeeze my eyes shut. “I think I accidentally went to a sex club.”

Harriet’s wineglass clinks the metal of the table. “I knew this was going to be good. How do you accidentally go to a sex club?”

I tell her about the note that came to the office, and rushing to meet the appointment, assuming I was there to sell whiskey . . . and end with the part about running from the room.

Harriet claps with childlike excitement. “There’s hope for you yet, Temperance. When are you going back?”

I’m stunned at her reaction. I didn’t exactly expect her to judge, but I sure didn’t think she’d cheer me on.

“Never. I can’t. That’s not me. I’m not . . .”

“Interesting? Sexually adventurous? Up to be manhandled regularly by a real man?”

“I don’t even know his name!”

Harriet waves off my concern. “If I had a nickel for every man whose name I didn’t know, I’d be even richer than I am now. You can’t take life so seriously. You’ll never make it out alive. Now, you go upstairs, take the rest of this bottle of wine, and get tipsy enough to forget all the shouldn’ts and can’ts. If you need me to do some stalking to find this guy, just let me know. I have connections.”
