You Don't Find Love, Love Finds You

Its always bitter sweet when a series comes to a close. Saving Jay is the 3rd book in the Breaking Free Series and I have been highly anticipating it since I first read Freeing Asia. My heart always goes out to the unsung hero and I fell for Jay pretty flipping hard. Ms Abel turns up the heat with this one Jay and Jade are absolutely scorching. I highly highly recommend this series!



S-hame, his entire life Jay has wanted to make his own path. The lack of love he received tore away at his soul and would forever change him.
A-lone, Jade has felt the sting of betrayal for the last time she refuses to drown in sorrow so she will move on even if it rips her in two.
V-iews, Jay no longer wants the things he once did all his heart desires now is to find the person who was meant for him. Someone real in his world that is full of fake and power hungry vipers.
I-nk, a tool that has brought Jade much joy will be the tie that introduces these two unlikely soul mates.
N-ervous, Jay refuses to let a small thing like time coming between him and what he knows will be his future.
G-rowth, haunted by his past could mean the end to his future Jay will have to set his pride aside and hear things with an open mind.


J-ust, painful circumstances will come to a close an open hearted apology and forgiveness will go a long way towards the healing that has always eluded Jay.

The ending was so perfect I could not have asked for a more perfect story. Ms. Abel does not disappoint her characters are raw and relatable. The end result is the realness that is projected through the pages. Jade was the perfect girl for Jay, her fire and spirit were just what he needed. These two had to overcome some personal issues and they did it marvelously but most importantly they did it together. Jay was just as magnificent as always and seeing him get his happy ending was what every fan wanted. This was a passionate read that touched my heart. We were able to catch up with the characters from the previous books in this series as well that is always nice. I cannot recommend this series enough! 




My Favs

Jay
His heart is his greatest gift. Not easy to trust but once he does he gives you his all. He had some issues to work out and let go of with the right guidance I’m happy to report he does just that. Get ready for a shocker that I did not see coming! I loved the way he worked so hard to repair what was once so broken.

Jade
I fell in love with her right away. Her spirit just jumped off the pages. She was in a very painful situation and had to figure out a way to move on without all the baggage that comes with the life she left behind. The way she was with her friends spoke volumes of the wonderful person Jade is. Talented beyond measure but still down to earth. She loved every moment in life so it was nice to see her share that with Jay. Jade touched his heart deeper than anyone before and he vowed to protect her forever.

Letting go, Jay turned toward the table and pushed our dishes out of the way. My glass tipped over, spilling water onto the floor, but he didn’t seem to care.
“Sit down,” he told me, taking my hand and guiding me to the edge of the table.
I did as I had been told, getting up on my toes, before sliding over the edge and sitting in front of him. His warm hands ran up my thighs, and his eyes were so dark and passionate that I couldn’t look away.
Kneeling down, Jay picked up one of the belts from our robes before standing up again. “Do you trust me?” he asked, holding the belt in one of his hands.
I glanced at it before meeting his gaze. I did. I probably trusted him more than I should. “Yes,” I whispered, keeping my eyes on his.
Jay’s lips lifted on one side, exposing one of his dimples. “Good,” he said before lifting the white belt and putting it over my eyes.
I gasped in surprise as everything went black. The soft material held my eyes closed as he tied it behind my head. I could feel his warm body in front of me, his thighs touching the insides of my knees. The rain sounded louder as it hit the deck outside. Licking my lips, I waited for Jay to make his next move.
“Lie back,” he whispered next to my ear.
I grinned and slowly leaned back, afraid I might knock something over. Jay’s hands helped guide me down, and once my head touched, I relaxed on the hard wood. Jay’s warmth left me, and I felt so exposed, lying there while blindfolded before him.
A few seconds later, I heard movement in the kitchen. The refrigerator door opened and closed, and I worked to control the rhythm of my breaths as I waited. I vaguely heard Jay’s footsteps as he came back into the room. It was hard to hear anything with the storm outside. Jay’s leg brushed mine before he moved to stand between my legs again. I had to fight the urge to talk. I wanted to ask him what he was going to do. I wanted to beg him to touch me, but I also knew the silence was only building the connection between us.
I have to trust him.

My husband is awesome and also a Chief in the US Navy. This means crazy schedules, uncertainty and lots of nights spent alone writing on my computer. I have two amazing kids who always know how to make me laugh. 

I've been passionate about writing since I wrote my first poem in the 3rd grade and I've been using it as a means to express myself since. 

I think because I hold my emotions so close and fear being vulnerable I use different forms of self expression- writing, drawing, painting, photography, tattoos- to show the world who I am.

My Thoughts:

Rebound is the second book in the Boomerang Series, written by author team, Noelle August.  It is a series that I highly recommend reading, in order, as the second book, references characters and events from the first book.  This is a fun, light-hearted, New Adult Romance Series, with fade to black love scenes.  It has a hilarious cast of characters with unique and fun personalities, and plot-twists that keep readers on the edge of their seat!

In Rebound, we get Adam Blackwell and Alison (Ali) Quick's story, told from their alternating view-points.  Adam is the wealthy, handsome and intelligent business owner of Boomerang, a matchmaking company that he started from the foundation.  He is looking for an investor whose money can help him expand Boomerang, and begin a movie production company. 

This is where Ali Quick becomes involved.  She is the daughter of a wealthy, conniving, and manipulative man, who is looking in to investing in Adam's company.  Ali along with two of her father's employee's will be working with Adam to see how the business is run, and report back to him.  Along the way, Adam and Ali begin to trust in one another.  Their growing attraction, and intense chemistry begins to blossom in to more.  Adam is trying to stay away from Ali because he doesn't want their relationship to interfere with business.  Simultaneously, Ali is being pressured by her father to find out Adam's darkest secrets, and report back to him.  Life and love become complicated in Rebound, and difficult decisions need to be made.  

Rebound was such a quick and entertaining read.  I loved the romance and chemistry between Adam and Ali, as well as the precious moments they shared with one another.  They opened up to one another, were vulnerable, and experienced a special intimacy.  They had a lot in common as far as hobbies, and were both very intelligent, and business-minded individuals.  I loved Adam's younger half-brother Gray and his best friend, Brooks.  I would love to see both of these guys get their own books.  I also enjoyed being reunited with all of the secondary characters from Boomerang, and look forward to more in this wonderful series!

My Thoughts:

I love the Thoughtless Series.  It is a series full of angst, intensity, passion, love, friendship, betrayal, jealousy, heartbreak, and healing.  These characters, along with the story plot, clearly stand out in my mind.  It is a story that I have spent a lot of time thinking about, and became obsessed with from the moment I read the first book in the series, Thoughtless.  I devoured each one of these books, hour after hour, and back to back.

In Thoughtless, we got Kiera's point of view concerning her long-term relationship with Denny, and how she fell in love with Denny's good friend, singer and upcoming star, 

Kellen Kyle.  This was a story that was difficult and painful to read, due to all of the emotional turmoil that these characters went through concerning a major love triangle.

In Thoughtful, we get to read about the events that took place in Thoughtless, exclusively through Kellen's point of view.  We got to see Kellen's vulnerability, his insecurities concerning feeling unlovable, and unworthy of love.  As reader's we become privy to his innermost thoughts, wishes, desires, hopes, and fears.  I enjoyed how Kellen's point of view gave me a more complete picture of everything that occurred between Kiera, Kellen, and Denny.   

In Thoughtful, there were times were certain events occurred, and I wondered what was going through Kellen's mind at the time, or where Kellen would disappear for days at a time, and I would wonder where he went, and what was happening with him.  I was so happy to have all of these questions answered.  I also got to know more about Kellen's childhood, as well as more about his bandmates and good friends, Evan, Matt, and Griffin.  There were also conversations between characters that we were made privy to in Thoughtful, that weren't in Thoughless.

Kellen was my favorite character in the Thoughtless Series, and getting to have the story told from his perspective was amazing.  I already loved him before this book, but after getting to know him better, I love him so much more.  The depth of his love for Kiera was heart melting.  The way that he yearned to be loved and cared for made him all the more endearing to me.  He was a romantic at heart, and all that Kellen Kyle encompassed added another dimension to an already stellar series!

     Determined to stop thinking, to just go with whatever happened, I dipped my finger into my drink and wet the backs of our hands. Kiera watched every move I made as I shook some salt over our hands. When she made no move to drink her shot, I broke the ice and took mine so she’d feel more comfortable about doing this with me. My throat was numb from doing Jäger shots all night, so it didn’t even burn. It burned for Kiera though. 

     Her tongue came out to lick the salt off her hand, her mouth opened to receive her drink, and her lips curled around the lime, squeezing its juices. It was an erotic thing to watch. Then her face twisted into a grimace. I chuckled at her reaction, then poured us another round. 

     The second shot went down easier for her. The third was even easier. We didn’t talk, just drank. And the more alcohol she consumed, the hungrier her eyes became. She was staring at me as tenaciously as the women in the bar did. I did my best to ignore it, but it was difficult to do…I wanted her to look at me like that. I wanted to look at her like that. But I wasn’t about to make any assumptions on what was going to happen tonight. We were just two friends sharing a drink. Two single friends who had almost shared a lot more recently… 

     By the fourth shot, the alcohol was getting to me. I spilled the tequila trying to pour it in those tiny little glasses. I laughed as I almost dropped the lime from my mouth. I was way beyond buzzing now.

     On the fifth shot, everything changed. Just as I was bending down to lick the salt from my skin, Kiera took my hand and ran her tongue over the back of it. She was soft, wet, warm, and felt amazing on my sensitive body. I wanted her to keep doing it, but she pulled back to drink her tequila shot. When she placed her wedge of lime between my lips, my heart sped up. Was she…? 

     She was. Her mouth reached up to connect with mine. Our lips pressed together as she sucked on the lime. All I could taste was lime and her. It was an intoxicating combination. But it wasn’t nearly satisfying enough. I needed more. 

     My breath felt strained when Kiera pulled away. Ragged. She teasingly removed the lime from her mouth and set it on the counter. When she seductively licked her fingers, my resolve evaporated. I suddenly didn’t give a shit what we’d been before, or who we’d been with. I didn’t care if she’d dated Denny—that seemed like a long-past memory at the moment. I didn’t care about Evan’s warnings, my regrettable experience with bedding roommates, my promise to Denny to stay away, or my own decision to not cross that uncrossable line. Kiera kissed me. She wanted me. And fuck, I wanted her too. 

     I took my shot of tequila straight, slammed the glass on the counter, then pulled her back to my mouth, where she belonged. 

     Our lips moving together felt better than I had imagined. There was so much eager, pent-up passion, I felt like we were both going to burst into flames. I couldn’t get enough of her. My hand on the back of her neck tightened, drawing her in even closer. My other hand found the small of her back. Perfection.

"That wasn't yours to take away," he exploded into the otherwise silent night. His words echoed off the surrounding buildings, each wave slicing me to the quick all over again. "That was our place. Not yours." His voice cracked right alongside my heart. 

"Yeah, well, there was a lot of stuff that wasn't yours to take either." I held his gaze, desperately trying to be strong, but as his eyes grew wide, I whimpered. 

His long legs strode forward, stopping only inches away from me. He was crowding me, but he still leaned in closer to my face. "There is nothing in this world that was ever more mine than you," he stated. Though it was the absolute truth, I wished with all my heart that it were a lie. 

"Till," I cried, swiping the tears from my eyes. 

"Why!" he shouted, causing his muscles to tense under the force. "Goddamn it! I needed that place." 

Porch lights flashed on from the surrounding apartments, illuminating not only the dark but also my rage. 

I shoved my hands into his chest. "What about what I needed? You left! I waited in that fucking apartment for weeks." 

He didn't budge, but my bare feet slipped, sending me toward the ground. Impossibly fast, Till's hand snaked out and caught my arm. I didn't let his chivalrous gesture douse my fire. I had six months’ worth of words to say to the man I was irrevocably in love with. 

"You took what you wanted. Then you left me." 

"Doodle," he whispered. 

I had been perilously close to the edge of insanity, and with one single word, he’d pushed me over. 

I lost it completely. 

Pounding my fists against his chest, I screamed at the top of my lungs, "It's Eliza! My name is fucking Eliza! Not Doodle!" I spun to march away, but Till's arms folded around me, lifting me off my feet to restrain me. 

I was miniscule compared to him. There was no use in fighting, but I still kicked my legs, irrationally desperate to get away from him—but only because I knew I couldn't keep him for forever. 

"Stop it!" he growled into my ear. "I know your Goddamn name—probably better than I know my own."

Review:

I can't freakin' believe that I waited all this time to read a book by Aly Martinez!!!! What in the world is wrong with me?!?!?! I learned my lesson. This stops RIGHT NOW! No more keeping books by Aly Martinez on my TBR. No freakin' way! Some vacation time is coming up and it's the perfect occasion to have a reading marathon. I am hooked! I can't even begin to describe what a sublime and breathtaking story Fighting Silence was. A perfect escapism into the lives of two of the most memorable characters that I have ever met! Make sure you have some free time to read this book because, trust me, you won't be able to put it down for a single second!!

Eliza and Till are teenagers when they first meet. A strong and sincere friendship was born between them after their first meeting. Being together is their safe place. When they are together nothing else matters. Just the two of them. Forever. As time goes by, their friendship turns into love. Eliza is everything to Till. She is the light in the darkness and the most important person in his life. Every day is a new challenge, but Till will do whatever it takes to keep the woman that he loves, and his brothers, happy and safe. 

I really don't want to give anything away about Eliza and Till's story. You have to FEEL the impact of every scene. This book took me on a roller coaster ride of a lifetime! OMG!!! The feels that I got while reading this book?!?!?! I swooned, I laughed, I screamed and I cried. I was an emotional mess when Eliza and Till were going through rough times. I wanted them to find happiness and peace of mind. They were such amazing characters to follow. I connected with them from the very beginning until the very end. Their chemistry is out of this world! It's intense, passionate and simply UNFORGETTABLE. They fit perfectly together. Both of them had struggles to overcome, but they did it together. Side by side they grew to become who they wanted to be. It was a tough road with difficult battles, but most of all it was a learning journey for all these characters. A journey that gave a meaning to the words family and love.

I can't even begin to tell you how much he made my heart skip a beat. The way he takes care of not only his brothers, but of Eliza as well is simply heart-melting! He's a top-notch book boyfriend. *Swoon* 

Fighting Silence is the kind of book that will make you want to read it all over again the moment you finish. Few books have made me feel this way. I fell in love with all of these characters and I can't wait to see what happens next! Flint is the next Page sibling to get a story. He's the middle child and my heart absolutely broke for him in Fighting Silence. His book is going to be very emotional. I can feel it! There is so much he needs to say. June can't come fast enough! Gahhhhhh!!!!!
