These Witches Don't Burn
These Witches Don't Burn #1
By: Isabel Sterling
Publisher: Razorbill
Release Date: May 28, 2019

Book Synopsis:

"Infused with page-turning suspense, bittersweet romance, shocking twists, and tragic turns, Sterling has written a standout debut." --Dana Mele, author of People Like Us

Hannah's a witch, but not the kind you're thinking of. She's the real deal, an Elemental with the power to control fire, earth, water, and air. But even though she lives in Salem, Massachusetts, her magic is a secret she has to keep to herself. If she's ever caught using it in front of a Reg (read: non-witch), she could lose it. For good. So, Hannah spends most of her time avoiding her ex-girlfriend (and fellow Elemental Witch) Veronica, hanging out with her best friend, and working at the Fly By Night Cauldron selling candles and crystals to tourists, goths, and local Wiccans.

But dealing with her ex is the least of Hannah's concerns when a terrifying blood ritual interrupts the end-of-school-year bonfire. Evidence of dark magic begins to appear all over Salem, and Hannah's sure it's the work of a deadly Blood Witch. The issue is, her coven is less than convinced, forcing Hannah to team up with the last person she wants to see: Veronica.

While the pair attempt to smoke out the Blood Witch at a house party, Hannah meets Morgan, a cute new ballerina in town. But trying to date amid a supernatural crisis is easier said than done, and Hannah will have to test the limits of her power if she's going to save her coven and get the girl, especially when the attacks on Salem's witches become deadlier by the day.

Isabel Sterling's delightful, suspenseful debut is equal parts sweet romance and thrilling mystery. With everything she loves on the line, Hannah must confront this murderous villain before her coven--and any chance she has with the new girl--is destroyed.

Why I'm Eagerly Waiting:

I love stories about witches, and lately I've been on the hunt for some witch books!  These Witches Don't Burn sounds  like it will be a magical and fun reading adventure!

Cover Reveal: Making Up by Helena Hunting

Making Up
By: Helena Hunting
Publisher: St. Martin's Press

A new standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting.

Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.

Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.

As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

About the Author:

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of PUCKED, Helena Hunting lives on the outskirts of Toronto with her incredibly tolerant family and two moderately intolerant cats. She's writes contemporary romance ranging from new adult angst to romantic sports comedy.

Stacking the Shelves & Sunday Post (36)

Hosted by:  Tynga's Reviews
Hosted by:  Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

This week was very busy!  I finished both The Kiss Quotient and The Bride Test by Helen Hoang and loved them!  They were both five star reads for me, and now I'm suffering a major book hangover!  I prepared for a meeting with my daughter's school, researching special education law, and unfortunately it took up the majority of my free time, but I'm glad to say that the meeting went well. This week was extremely hot.  It was in the 90's where I live, and felt a lot more like summer than Spring!  I'm looking forward to getting a lot more reading in next week!

Last Week on the Blog:

Blogger Love:

*Dani@ Perspective of a Writer discusses, How to Stop Procrastinating Reviews, and gives us several insightful and helpful tips on how to help with this problem.

*Teresa@ Readers Live a Thousand Lives, does a feature called Recent Reads, where she uses an app called Bookly.  I downloaded this app and it makes infographics for each book you read, with your personal book stats!  I love it!  Here's my first one:

*Sam@ We Live and Breathe Books posted the discussion topic, Take a Chance on Me, and discusses why she is so willing to give a new author a go.  It got me to thinking about how I rely on my favorite auto-buy authors for most of my reading material, but why it is important to branch out and give new authors a chance.

There are so many bookish leading men to crush on and swoon over!  Oh the possibilities!  LOL. Here are the leading men that first come to my mind when I think of my book crushes...

1. Daemon Black from the Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout-He's charming, protective, witty, has a great sense of humor, and the best inner dialogue ever!  When he loves, he is willing to give everything, even his life to save the woman he loves.  He is a modern day, paranormal, "knight in shinning armor!"  The chemistry between him and his leading lady is off the charts, but they also have so much more than that.  They truly are soulmates, and I think everybody would love to have the kind of love and connection that we see between Daemon and Katy!

2.  Remy Tate from the Real Series by Katy Evans-He's dark, brooding, very masculine, broken in many ways, and emits sexuality!  Reading this series made me have all of the "feels!"  Remy is so sexy, carnal, and the kind of man that I imagine walking down the street that woman can't help but admire for their good looks ands sexual swagger.  If you're looking for the ultimate sexy read and don't mind an alpha male to the extreme, along with insta-lust and a whole lot of it; this is a great series!

3.  Tatum Jackson from Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley-He's a sexy and manly mountain man! While initially he comes off as a jerk, we quickly see that he is a loyal, giving, and protective man.  I love the way he banters back and forth with his leading lady, Laurie; but most of all I love how he treats her.  He makes her feel treasured, cherished, loved, and beautiful.  Tatum brings out the best in her, and becomes the catalyst for her transformation! I find that to be the ultimate sexy when picking a book crush!

4. Kaiden Rowe from the Sweet Series by Wendy Higgins-If you read this series, you will indeed "Sigh for Kai!"  Gorgeous, British accent, and the drummer in a band; His father is "The Duke of Lust." It is Kai's job to get ladies to commit the sin of lust, but when he meets Anna, he fights his base urges, because he falls in love with her.  I thought he was romantic, sexy, charming, protective, and I loved how he was willing to sacrifice for the good of the woman that he loved.  Kai took swooning to a whole other level, and is one of my favorite young adult leading men!

5. Michael Phan from The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang-
Michael made me swoon throughout his entire story.  He was so patient, kind, caring, giving, thoughtful and tender with his leading lady, Stella Lane.  I loved the way he treated her, embraced her challenges and admired and loved most what made her unique due to her having high functioning Autism.

Eeeeep!!! Let's talk about book crushes!!! They are so many to name, but I finally made found my top ones. Here they are! Who are your book crushes??

1. Remy Tate from the Real Series by Katy Evans- I agree with everything Lindy mentioned about Remy. He's all of that and more! He's my number one and that will never change. He's my ultimate book crush and book husband. He even surpassed the book boyfriend status. I can't even deal with how many chill-inducing moments his book gave me. He was a mystery from the very beginning and I loved discovering who the real Remy was. His love for Brooke is breathtaking!

2. Bowen Driscoll from the Crossing the Line Series by Tessa Bailey-If you're a fan of bad boys, don't look any further. Bowen Driscoll is the kind of trouble you want to come face-to-face with! Tessa Bailey writes the most intoxicating dirty talkers and Bowen is no exception! He's a bad boy with a heart of gold and I'm seriously so in love with how he loves Sera.

3. Jared Trent from The Fall Away Series by Penelope Douglas-Just like Tate Brandt, I could not stay away from Jared Trent. He might be the bully in this story, but he totally stole a piece of my heart. I went through so many emotions during this reading journey. He will captivate you from the very first moment and you will no doubt end up cheering for him. I absolutely loved how he fell for Tate.

4. Cameron Hamilton from The Wait for You Series by J. Lynn -Cam is the kind of hero that will make you swoon from beginning to end! And, did you know that he bakes cookies? He says his cookies are the best *Wink! Wink!* He's such a wonderful, caring and understanding hero. I love everything about him and I find myself reading Wait for You over and over again so I can swoon all over again.

Million Dollar Devil
By: Katy Evans
Publisher: Montlake Romance
Release Date: May 28, 2019

Goodreads Summary:

Big-city sophistication meets carnal hunger in this devilish contemporary romance from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

Heir apparent to her father’s company, Lizzy Banks needs a man. The perfect man. But when the rich “fundbabies” she usually rubs shoulders with prove impossible to hire, she takes a chance on a raw beast of a man salvaged from the wreckage of a bar brawl.

James Rowan earns a modest income as a YouTube daredevil, but he can’t refuse Lizzy’s million dollar deal. As she polishes his rough edges, creating a sophisticated gentleman fit for the highest circles of society, not only does she bring out the perfect man—it’s like she’s making the man of her dreams. How can she resist?

Though Lizzy loves seeing James in his clothes—and out of them—he isn’t the kind of man you bring home to Daddy. Her father’s disapproval and the pressure of the campaign have her eyeing the straight and narrow, but Lizzy’s finding it awfully hard to resist the devil on her shoulder…

Why I'm Eagerly Waiting:

I love Katy Evans!  Her Real Series is one of my favorite contemporary romance reads!  If you want some of the sexiest and steamiest characters that you will read about, coupled with a romantic storyline; I recommend reading her books!  When I saw Million Dollar Devil, I didn't even care what it was about.  All I had to see was that it was written by Katy Evans, in order to add it to the top of my wish list/TBR.

Book Synopsis:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Joanna Wylde comes a new story in her Reapers MC series…

Rome McGuire knew he was in trouble the first time he saw her.

She was sweet and pretty and just about perfect in every way. She was also too young and innocent for the Reapers Motorcycle Club. He did the right thing, and walked away.

The second time, he couldn’t resist tasting her.

Gorgeous and smart, fun and full of wonder, she jumped on his bike and would’ve followed him anywhere. Still, she deserved a shot at happiness somewhere bigger and better than a town like Hallies Falls. Walking away wasn’t so easy that time, but her family needed her and he had a job to do.

When she came around a third time, he’d had enough. Randi Whittaker had been given two chances to escape, and now it was time for Rome to take his.

This time, the only way Randi would be leaving Hallies Falls was on the back of Rome’s bike.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

My Thoughts:

The Reapers MC is my favorite biker series.  I have read every single one, and every time I hear that a new one is coming out, I get so excited!

Rome's Chance was a wonderful novella.  Sweet, sexy, heartfelt, and a great reading escape, are words I'd use to describe this novella.  I read the story fairly quickly, because it was a smooth and easy read, that I quickly fell in to.  For being a novella, the story was fully developed.

Randi comes from Hallies Falls, oldest of five children from four different fathers.  Randi's mother had her at a young age, and the brunt of the responsibility of raising her siblings fell on her.

Eight years ago, Randi met Rome McGuire at a party, and hopped on the back of his motorcycle.  Shortly thereafter, wildfires forced her family to evacuate, and she ended up relocating and attending college in Missoula. Eight years later, Randi returns to her hometown to attend her high school reunion.

While in town. she runs in to Rome, and the chemistry that they share is as strong as ever.  He hasn't been able to get Randi out of his mind after all of these years, and asks her out on a date.  While Randi tries to turn him down, because she can't see anything really come of it, she eventually can't resist.  Despite their connection, Randi doesn't think that her and Rome have enough in common, and she worries that the MC biker lifestyle would not be for her.  Rome knows that Randi is the woman for him.  Can he convince her that they are meant to be?

I loved Rome and Randi's story.  There were some passionate moments, romantic ones, and some sad ones.  Through it all, Rome convinced me that he was a genuine, thoughtful, and caring man, who wanted a real relationship with Randi.  She had a lot of worries, but when she stopped thinking so much and let her heart lead her, she was at her best!  I loved watching the romance develop between Randi and Rome. I also enjoyed her interactions with her two younger siblings Lexi and Kayden, previous characters in the series, Tinker and Gage, as well as Peaches Taylor, who the next novella will be about.  Fans of the Reapers MC will enjoy this novella, and best of all, even if you haven't read the previous books in the series, Rome's Chance can be read as a standalone.
