Stacking the Shelves & Our Sunday Post (33)

Hosted by:  Tynga's Reviews

First, I'd like to say that I'd like more interaction on my blog.  I'm really good at commenting back, so if you're interested in visiting my blog and interacting, I will do the same on your blog.  Please let me know in the comments, and I'll be visiting you!

This week my daughter returned to school and my husband returned to work after having a week off for spring break.  I've been really sick and sleeping on and off due to a respiratory infection.  To top it off I've had problems dealing with my daughter's IEP.  Anyone that has a child with special needs knows that it seems like you always have a battle to fight, in order to advocate and give your child a "voice."  The system is broken.  My escape from real life is getting lost in a book.  Hopefully, next week is better.

  1. Hope you're feeling better! And I think that's one of the best parts of being a reader- being able to escape real life and stress for a while!

Hope it's a better week and that your reads are good! :)

  2. Feel better, Lindy. Yes, the battles for all the needs of a child being included in an IEP are never ending it seems. I applaud you for being the parent your girl needs and working to get what she needs even if its not always successful.
I got that freebie, too. Loved Rome's Chance! I'm still reading Smoke and Key. Hoping to finish it today.
Yes, come and visit any time like you already do. I like to visit back as well. :)

  4. Hope you feel better soon! Sorry to hear about the IEP issues. I remember with my oldest the school kept pushing to get one.

    Have a great week!

  6. Sorry to hear you're having troubles with IEP. The school system can be really difficult to deal with. Bravo to you for keeping up the fight.

I hope to get to The Unhoneymooners soon, but I have a few books to go before I can get to it. I read (listened to the audio) my first Kylie Scott just recently and loved it, so I snapped up Drive on an Audible sale. I'll try and stop by more often. It's hard finding blogs that comment back sometimes, right? :)

  7. Oh no! I hope you feel better soon if you aren't currently. Looks like you did a lot of reviewing so far this week! Good for you. The Cassandra Clare book is on my want list too!

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's IEP issues. As a School Psychologist I know issues can arise and teachers aren't always the best for advocating for children over themselves. If you need any help advocating or navigating any documents let me know. I'd be more than happy to help!

I grabbed Royally Screwed as well and good choice with the Reaper book, I enjoy that series very much!!

    Have a great week!!

  9. I hope you have a better week, and I have had clients with IEP experiences that show how frustrating the system can be.

Feel better, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  10. I hope you are feeling better, Lindy. I have been sick too. :-( I am sorry to hear about your troubles with the IEP. It seems to be the way everywhere from talking with friends who have similar struggles. It really shouldn't be that way. We should be working for our kids, not against them. And it feels sometimes like we aren't doing that.

Your new books look good! I have a Gena Showalter book on my shelf to read that keeps calling to me. I may have to get to it soon.

I hope you have a good week, Lindy!

  18. I hope you are feeling much better. I also tend to escape into my books. My daughter has had such health issues; she ended up with an IEP which accademically was fine but they and even me didn't give her much support for her physical illness and pain. It was all a push - you've got to finish high school. Now we are working harder to find answers for her pain and other issues.

I'm happy to talk with you on the blogs. Have a better week!
