Liam “Hunter” Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a Devil’s Jack, he knows his duty. He’ll defend his club from their oldest enemies—the Reapers—using whatever weapons he can find. But why use force when the Reapers’ president has a daughter who’s alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take her. Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club’s president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger—a man who isn't afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn't afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he’s The One. Or so she thinks.

My Thoughts:

I am officially addicted to the Reapers Motorcycle Club Series!  Devil's Game is Em's story.  It begins with her reflecting on her childhood with her younger sister, Kit.  Em has always been introverted, followed the rules, and wanted to please her dad, Reese, "Picnic."  Her sister Kit has always been the wild child, and rebelled against their father's strict authority.  When the girls were younger, they got to see how in love their parents were with each other, and how they could never take their hands off of each other.  When Em was going to start high school, her father, along with six author members of the Reaper's escorted Em to school, and her father even went so far as to walk her to her locker.  Unfortunately for Em, her father has always intimidated and scared away any guy that might be interested in Em.  Now in her twenties, Em has a huge crush on "Painter," the new RMC prospect.  Painter is interested in Em also, but is too intimidated by Picnic to let anything happen between him and Em.  When Em makes a move, and Painter turns her down, she decides to move on.  This decision is reinforced when she walks in on Painter having sex with another woman.

Liam "Hunter" was raised in the foster care system.  He was never loved or nurtured, and the only person that he grew close to was Kelsey, his foster sister.  He tried to protect Kelsey to the best of his ability.  One day when their foster father is trying to rape Kelsey, their neighbor, Burke, walks in and puts a stop to it.  Burke hands Hunter the gun, and gives him the option to kill his foster father, and get rid of the body for him.  Burke is a Devil's Jack, and this seals Hunter's fate, as he ends up becoming a part of the motorcycle club when he's old enough.  The Reaper's and Devil's Jack's are enemies, and have been at war with each other for twenty years.  Burke ends up assigning Hunter to follow and get close to Em.  When Hunter first see's her, he thinks she is beautiful, and is drawn to her.  Hunter finds a way to start talking to Em via Facebook  and eventually they are texting each other back and forth.  Yet, Hunter only gives Em his real name Liam, and doesn't tell her that he is a Devil's Jack.  Pretty soon things go topsy turvy, and chaos ensues when a Reaper opens fire on a couple of Devil's Jacks.  Hunter is tasked with taking Em hostage.  Em learns that everything that Hunter ever told her was a lie.  However, Em and Hunter share a strong connection and attraction.  They both have come to care about each other, and the fight for love has just begun...

Devil's Game was amazing!  I was in the middle of reading another book, and just like I did with the previous story in this series, I dropped everything to read Em and Hunter's story in one sitting!  It had everything that makes a story great for me; passion, romance, love, a complex plot full of surprises, action, suspense, and beautifully crafted characters!  I am now stuck with a major book hangover, and a little bit of sadness for having finished Devil's Game.  There was not one dull moment in this story!  The pacing was perfect, and the writing offered me great visualizations of the characters, and story.  The next story is Picnic's, and I know that I'm going to be in for one very wild ride.  Picnic may be a forty year old after with two grown children, but I picture him like a sexy dark haired Brad Pitt.  I can't wait to see him fall in love again.  He's been lonely since his wife died, and I think it's time for him to find a woman with a brain, who can stand toe to toe with him!!!   Ms. Wylde sure knows how to write hot, sexy, and seductive alpha bikers!

My Rating:

I give, Devil's Game, by Joanna Wilde 4.5 Intense, Passionate, Tumultuous, Sexy-Devil Filled Stars!  This series will take you on one very adventurous, passionate, and addictive whirlwind ride!  Sit back, and and enjoy this sensual escape!

My Favorite Quote:

" 'Love' is a word that doesn't mean a damned thing to me.  'Em,' though?  That's a word that means everything.  I'd die for you, babe.  Kill for you, too.  I stood up to my club for you and I don't regret any of it, not for a minute.  So you wanted to know how I feel?  I don't even have a word for what I feel. sweetheart.  I just know it's really fuckin' good."  (eARC, Loc. 3185)
