GR's Summary:

Forever is a heartbeat away . . . Kerris Moreton knows how to make things work. Bounced from foster home to foster home as a kid, she adapted; when opportunity arose, she thrived. Now, about to open her own business and accept a marriage proposal, Kerris is ready to build the life she's always wanted. The only thing missing? A passionate connection with her would-be fiancé, Cam. Kerris wants to believe that sparks are overrated-until Walsh Bennett lights her up like the Fourth of July. . . . but what about love? As one of the East Coast's most eligible bachelors, Walsh enjoys financial independence, fulfilling work with his family's nonprofit, and plenty of female attention. But lately he's been distracted by the one woman he can't have. Lovely to look at and even sweeter to know, Kerris is the soul mate Walsh never thought he would find. The problem is, his best friend found her first . . .

The Bennett Series:

Lindy's Thoughts:

When You Are Mine, by Kennedy Ryan, was an outstanding debut.  This story really affected my emotions, and hit me like a tornado.  Kerris, grew up feeling rejected, and unloved.  She was abandoned on the doorstep of an orphanage as a baby.  All she ever wanted was to be loved, and have a family of her own.  Instead, she was passed around from foster home to foster home, and when she finally found someone to love her, she was abused, and then moved to another home.

Walsh was an only child, who grew up with a lot of love, and in endless wealth, surrounded by high society.  His father was a staunch workaholic who bought out failing businesses, while his mother used her wealth to help orphans, and those in need.  At the age of 13, Walsh's family was torn apart by a divorce, due to his father's indiscretion.  From that point on Walsh felt pitted against both of his parents, and tried to please them both.  Therefore, he was heavily involved in philanthropy, as well as preparing to one day take over his father's business.

Walsh grew up with his best friend, Cam, through a camp that his mother had created for orphans and foster children to attend.  At first, Walsh and Cam didn't hit it off, but by the end of camp, not only were they best friends, but they were also like brothers.  Walsh's cousin Jo, also grew up with the boys and they did everything together.  Walsh's family treated Cam like he was family, and they all were extremely close.

When Walsh returns home after being abroad for quite awhile, he see's Kerris.  He is struck by her beauty, compassion, and realness.  When Kerris meets Walsh, she feels a powerful pull towards him that she doesn't understand.  She has never felt strong physical attraction and desire towards a man in her life, and she didn't think it was possible for her to feel that way.

Walsh is stunned when he learns that Kerris is Cam's girlfriend.  Cam is madly in love with Kerris and has never looked happier.  Pretty soon, Walsh and Kerris are put in close proximity consistently, and their feelings for one another continue to grow.  They have a deep connection, and are struggling with what they feel for one another.  Their growing feelings for each other bring a complication and burden to the whole family, one that they had never anticipated.

When You Are Mine, was a story that made my heart hurt.  I felt for all of these characters, and the angst that they were going through.  The heart cannot be told who to love.  However, I strongly believe that Walsh, Kerris, and Cam all made mistakes, and bad decisions.  These characters were very real and flawed.  They stepped right off of the pages, and spoke to me.   I could not put down this story, and was constantly anticipating what would happen next.  There were a few large surprises, and plot twists.  I need to read the sequel, Loving You Always.  I can't wait to see what will happen next!

My Rating:

I give, When You Are Mine, by Kennedy Ryan, 4.5 Fateful, Finding Your Soulmate, Angst-Filled, Broken Hearted, What Will Happen Next Filled Stars!  Read this romance!  It is addictive, suspenseful, and character driven.  All of these characters will touch your heart, and you will not want to put this story down!

The Way Ria See's It:

Has your heart ever been put through the spin cycle? Wow get ready When You Are Mine will do just that to you! Talk about getting put through the ringer. I felt so much for all of these characters! This was a story of unfortunate circumstances and miscommunication. From the very first few pages we come to know exactly the situation our very dreamy Walsh is in. I’ll be honest at first I was a bit hostile towards the situation and I could not understand the predicament everyone was in. I wanted to hate Kerris but I ended up hurting for her I could not imagine how she was torn and what she should do. Ms. Ryan will keep you on the edge of your friggin seat with this one! Its sure to keep you turning the pages into the wee hours of the night. Definitely a page turner along with and emotional tale.

W-illing, Kerris has a soft spot for children and the elderly needing help. Its a must that she see’s a kind old lady home safely.
H-onor, receiving an award is something Kerris has been looking forward to but what shocks her is the magnetic pull she feels towards her benefactors son.
E-thereal, Walsh didn’t see much but the silhouette across the parking lot was that of an angel, willing to help someone in need without question. Walsh begins to give his heart to that beautiful creature.
N-obody, Kerris has never really known her place, belonging isn’t something she is accustomed to. Kerris has worked so hard to overcome the obstacles life has thrown her way, her dreams are finally within reach and she will not give up now.

Y-earning, Walsh has been away quite a bit his giving spirit has had him traveling the world helping the most deserving of kindness, and care, orphaned children. Now that he is home his heart is being pulled in many directions.
O-bligations, hurting his family was never an option Walsh has a duty to his loved ones. Never one to put himself first he will once again forsake something that truly belongs to him.
U-nknowingly, Walsh has given his heart away but its the most dire of circumstances he cannot bare a life without his best friend and the woman that holds his heart. He knows Kerris does not belong to him but the connection they share is undeniable.

A-ware, Sophie has always wanted Walsh she will do what it takes, wait as long as she must but she knows he will be hers one day. Never one to listen she will be lead down a path that can only end painfully.
R-emorse, losing Kerris was a punch to Walsh’s heart he knew it would be difficult but he is lost without her. So many things could've been different. Hurting Cam his best friend was the last thing he wanted, everyone involved deserves so much better.
E-mbrace, brought forth from intense emotions of a calculated and life altering act Walsh and Kerris will give in to their feelings, now everyone will know exactly what lays within Walsh’s heart.

M-istakes, Kerris has been through so much and overcome it. Loving Walsh was never an option for her, but telling her heart not to feel is impossible. She will fight for her family and the dreams she and Cam spoke of.
I-llusions, Walsh’s mom has always loved and cared for Cam though he is not biologically her son she loves him as such. A mother always knows and seeing what has happened between her two boys breaks her heart.
N-ews, Walsh’s father has never been an expressive feeling man. When faced with a difficult truth he will travel across the world to confess what is truly in his heart. Walsh will see fear in his fathers eyes for the first time in his life.
E-ndangering, willing to forsake everything for love Walsh will make a desperate plea the response he receives will crush him absolutely. Nothing will ever be the same HE will never be the same.

GAH! Okay so the ending wasn’t a traditional cliffhanger but I’ll be darned if I’m not DYING to continue this story. Like I said this is an emotional one, I don’t know what Ms. Ryan plans on doing but I am 100% at her Mercy. I’m torn I don’t know what I want, WAIT I do know what I want, I want everyone to be happy! I just don’t know how its going to happen. I feel hurt, betrayed, and hopeful. SO.MANY.FEELS. I loved the Bennett family dynamic and every character touched me in some way thats why it has been so hard picking a side. I absolutely recommend this series get ready to stay up through the night in order to finish this one.

My Favs:

Walsh
Okay he is a very fortunate person even though his parents divorced when he was just a child he has never wanted for anything. He is kind, loving, giving, and hard working. He travels the globe helping children and he helps his father run the business. There isn’t anything that is out of reach for Walsh except the one thing his heart desires above all else. My heart is in tiny shards for him. I know he loves Cam as a brother and he would never intentionally hurt him. There is no denying the feelings he has for Kerris they are sincere and run to the depths of his soul. *sigh* Walsh!! I don’t know what I want a part of me wants him to fight for her regardless, and another part of me wants him to fall for someone else because she doesn’t deserve his devotion.

Jo (Walsh’s Cousin)
I’m not going to get into the deets cause of spoilers and all but MAN! OMG!! I want her to be happy WTF talk about a committed martyr for true love! I hope she digs her head out of the sand and finds true devotion one day.

Everyone Else
Everyone has touched me in some way I truly hope things end well, we will see what happens next I cant wait!

My Rating:

4.0 Visit, Hospital, Orphanage, Surgery, Bracelet, Gazebo, Tears, Finger, Diagnosis, Slippers, Kiss, Confession, Hong Kong, Desperate love filled stars! OMG for an engaging emotionally conflicting and thrilling read pick up this book!!!

About Kennedy Ryan:

Kennedy Ryan grew up in North Carolina, but loves living in Atlanta with her husband (tall – check, dark – check – handsome – check), and her handful of a son. Though she knew, like writers often do, that she was supposed to tell stories, the road to fulfillment has been paved with “some of everything” jobs that kept her family eating and living indoors. With her degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tar Heels!), she has focused on writing for non-profit organizations and even doing some non-fiction ghost writing. Only in the last few years did she start telling stories again. In addition to being a devoted wife and mom, she’s also a passionate advocate for families living with Autism. Her son was diagnosed at the age of two, and she has made it her mission to help as many families as possible find the resources and services they need. 25% of her royalties will go toward her national charitable partner Talk About Curing Autism and Myles-A-Part, her foundation serving Georgia families.

  1. Oh these types of stories always hurt my heart. You just know that none of the characters are going to be the same by the end. Seeing them make mistakes and have realistic flaws makes them and their story feel so much more real and heart-wrenching. I get the feeling that I would need a lot of chocolate while reading this book ;)
