Summary
After a brutal nuclear war, the United States was left decimated. A small group of survivors eventually banded together, but only after more conflict over which family would govern the new nation. The Westfalls lost. Fifty years later, peace and control are maintained by marrying the daughters of the losing side to the sons of the winning group in a yearly ritual.

This year, it is my turn.

My name is Ivy Westfall, and my mission is simple: to kill the president’s son—my soon-to-be husband—and return the Westfall family to power.

But Bishop Lattimer is either a very skilled actor or he’s not the cruel, heartless boy my family warned me to expect. He might even be the one person in this world who truly understands me. But there is no escape from my fate. I am the only one who can restore the Westfall legacy.

Because Bishop must die. And I must be the one to kill him…

Sheltered and Clouded

Hold on a sec, I have to pick my jaw up off the floor…

There we go I can honestly say it has been a very long time since I was physically unable to put a book down. The Book of Ivy did that to me. Sure sure there are lots of times that I don’t want to put the book down or i’m fighting sleep. NOT the case with The Book of Ivy. Putting it down was NOT an option!! I should have been exhausted but I wasn’t I was excited and energized throughout. I don’t even think I blinked I was so desperate for the next page!! For that alone this book is getting 5 stars. Typically every component needs to be absolutely perfect in order to get a 5 for me but I’m making an exception with this one. If I had to find a fault it would have to be Ivy’s blind trust in her father…No worries Bishop sets her straight and Ivy undergoes MAJOR character development. I will def be following this series closely!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! Giddy giddy giddy!

T-
ime, Ivy’s freedom is about to run out. She was never meant for this mission until something changed 2 years ago.
H-
elpless, marrying should be done by choice but the system is corrupt what is disguised as keeping the peace is actually a way of keeping the Usurper in power.
E-
ffective, knowing Ivy only has limited time she must quickly find a way into Bishops mind.

B-
ound, Ivy’s whole life she was trained to be a robot and to hate the man who stole a mother she never knew but always wanted.
O-pportunities, being near Bishop is nothing like she expected. The person Ivy shares her life with is nothing like the boy she was taught to despise.
O-bsessed, the pressure Ivy feels is brought on by her calculating sister who would have been a much better choice to complete the mission.
K-ind, the recent interactions Ivy has had with the president have been amiable. One evening of finally getting somethings off of her chest Ivy begins to realize just how wrong she has been.

O-ppressed, seeing women in pain tears Ivy up inside and once again it is Bishop who surprises her with his actions. little by little he is winning Ivy over.
F-ire, not once has a boy captured Ivy’s interest until Bishop. Being married to him has nothing to do with it. The thing that makes these two so special is their connection and understanding.

I-ndecision, time’s up Ivy holds the key towards a different world yet her heart is telling her the price is too high. Its the softness within her that also makes her so special.
V-icious, supplied with the tools to achieve her ultimate goal, Ivy must think of something fast. Knowing there is only one sacrifice she can make to keep her loved ones safe Ivy does not waiver and does not hesitate the plans are in motion and nothing will ever be the same.
Y-ielding, accepting love is never easy. Faced with a choice Ivy followed her heart protecting everyone she loves. Nothing could have prepared her for the betrayal and looming darkness ahead. A decision has been made and consequences are sure to follow.

So this is a post apocalyptic dystopian that seemed very innocent what I mean by that is every character had a sense of innocence about them. Even the greedy ones thirsting for power touched a part of me and my sympathy was theirs for the taking. The world building…if it was any better I’m sure I would have been able to taste their air. I enjoyed this story very much and though the ending was a cliffhanger actually every page was a cliffhanger and I’m dying to get my hands on the next its okay! Several of the characters grew exponentially. I definitely recommend this one for those that enjoy dystopian or YA or a good story.

My Rating
5.0 Post War, Wedding Dress, Two Years, Bungaloo, Library, Couch, River, Dress, Birthday, Yellow, Neighbors, Sacrifice, Truth, Death, Plot, Calculated, Accepting True Love filled stars! I could not help but love love love this book!!
