Summary
When want-to-be PI Sydney Bucco lost her dad, she picked up the pieces, left home and never looked back. Now on the verge of losing another close family member she may be forced to do the same. But this time her job and her dream are the line. And there’s only one way to save them–achieve the unattainable and make a multi-million dollar deal with the most wanted man in America. Ray Carlson has always been great at two things: playing football and taking care of his little sister. But while he’s away at college, scoring touchdowns and winning the hearts of fans, he drops the only ball that really matters. It’s been four years since he last saw his sister and she’s constantly on his mind, but so is the biggest decision of his career. As first ranking draft prospect, everybody wants a piece of him, and when his would-be agent is involved in a tragic accident, everyone comes running–including her assistant, Sydney. She’s an amateur and she’s desperate. But so is Ray and they soon forge an alliance to get the two things they want most in the world. Somewhere along the way, they get far more than they bargained for.

Being Number One Doesn't Equal Happiness Without Family
Egads! She’s done it again Scully takes us through the ringer. This entire series has been one I’ve followed since the beginning. Its been a long time since we left the Black’s and Carlson’s things have not been all they were meant to be. As we soon find out early in the book.

But FIRST…

We meet Ray…

LUKES SON!!!!!!!!!!

Eeeeeeeep!!
happy animated GIF

You know what that means? Luke has got to be right down the road right? Well let me tell you he was not the main focus! Blitz was about Ray’s life and doing right by his sister.

He is just…

the mindy project animated GIF

Protective, loving, kind, gentle, honest…Oh and did I mention the #1 overall prospect into the NFL?!! He didn’t go into the team we were all hoping for…Actually he went into the team that out of 32…I hate with a passion of ten thousand burning suns. Bit much? Nope the hate runs deep. This team is currently winless and just lost their head coach so picking first in the draft does make sense but…wah.

modern family animated GIF

Any who, in typical Scully form nothing is roses and by the end we are left with just enough wanting more. I want so many things from all of these characters! I'll be looking forward to the next in this intense heart stopping series!

B-
right, Ray has worked hard to be number one now everyone wants a piece of him. Standing to make a lot of money Sydney has to protect all of her cousins hard work.
L-
oss, Sydney moved away from her home because she couldn’t stand the memories. Faced with an impossible situation she will try to land StingRay for her cousin.
I-
llusion, Ray’s life has been hard on the outside things seem perfect but once he starts peeling away the layers we see his pain and guilt.
T-
rust, making a bargain puts Ray’s life in the light. Things that were once a secret surface and the people he depended on most have let him down.
Z-
eal, knowing where his heart lays Ray makes a surprising decision considering all of the events that have recently transpired. Facing his past is the beginning of the rest of his life.

Talk about a shocking ending! Trust me when I say its in a good way. Ray finds all of the answers he’s been seeking all along. I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here. His sister is quite the firecracker and she has some deep seeded anger.

Beamly US animated GIF

I’ve come to care quite deeply for these characters so I hope they find a way to come together. This wasn’t as dark or gritty as the rest of the Black Family Saga books but get ready for another roller coaster ride. Scully doesn’t do rainbows and bunnies, she keeps it real. Her characters are super flawed and they stumble and through their mistakes they find a way to better themselves. I recommend this series that like a lot of twists and turns full of drama and secrets.

My Fav’s
Ray
OMG he is like a constant ray of sunshine! I fell in love with him right away. He loves deeply and fiercely football is his life but so is his family. Finding Sydney was great for him she made him comfortable and they connected well together. I loved that he’s a fighter, when faced with difficult situations he dealt with them head on. There were certain things that happened that would have made anyone else run, get angry, or shut down. He didn’t do either he faced the situation with an open mind and sincerity. Love, love, love this guy.

Sydney

Yes I love her but she definitely has some growing to do. I hope she faces her past and with Ray’s help conquer’s her demons. I’m not sure if we are going to continue her story because it was closed pretty nicely. One thing I’ve learned reading Scully’s books is expect the unexpected. I’m looking forward to seeing more from Sydney in the future.

My Rating
4.0 All Star, Coma, Dinner, Contract, Missing Sister, Deal, Secrets, Blogger, PI, More Secrets, Father, Uncle, Aunt, Even More Secrets, First Pick, San Francisco, Motel, Mirror Image, Confessions unwavering mistake riddled past filled stars! Its time for some redemption and correcting the past in order to mend the future. This has been quite the roller coaster ride but I recommend it for sure!

About the Author

F.X. Scully loves romance, but she doesn't write your typical Happily Ever After. Because let's face it, in the real world, it can sometimes take a lot of angst and pain before you get there. Neither will she leave you completely heart broken, sobbing into a tub of ice cream. Rest assured you'll be on a roller coaster, but you'll be glad you went along for the ride.

Summary

The HEA you've been waiting for...

Just because you're damaged doesn't mean you can't be fixed.

At twenty-nine, Luke Black is a college drop out, a has-been musician, a widower, a dead-beat dad and an ex-con. On paper, the man doesn’t have a redeeming quality. But in his heart he’s still searching for one thing—“normal”.

All twenty-four-year-old Cocanda Rose has ever known is “normal”. And all she’s ever sought out is something that’ll make her mundane life just a bit more exciting. The rocker she fell for has broken her spirit and shattered her heart more times than she can count. Despite it all, she’s like a moth to a flame and has deemed herself irrevocably damaged. But there’s one person who has the potential to pick up the pieces. He’s her life-long neighbor, her best friend’s ex and the town pariah. He’s also the last person she ever thought she’d end up with.

In the final installment of the Lewiston Blues Series, F.X. Scully picks up the pieces of Luke Black’s life. But not without some hiccups along the way.

The Way I See It
So, yea…I’m pretty flipping emotional right now. Ive said this before and I’ll say it again Scully’s writing is gritty. No kittens puppies or bunnies to be found. She promises and HEA and she delivers one, all the while staying true to form “keeping it real” as they say. This is the 3rd book in the series and I was really wanting Luke to wake up get his crap together take back whats rightfully his…UGH! he doesn’t do that!!! I wanted to shake him so many times its not funny. Yet at the same time my heart truly broke for him he is such a good man and his life is total garbo as for Coco I was like WHAT? Once I began reading the book it really worked these two mesh together very well. I have so much invested in these characters it feels like i’ve actually experienced the past 20 (fictional) years with them. I want the picket fence with the 2.5 kids and everything in between for everyone!

B-ereft, Luke never thought his life would be the way it is he has given up so much he has nothing left and he feels as though there is nothing left.
L-ove, Coco has always been with one person he is the only person she has known in this capacity Dash may not be everyones ideal partner for her but she cant walk away.
A-lone, Ross is finally doing something for himself Luke cannot bare to pull him away from his new life even if its all he wants to do.
C-onfrontation, Luke has thought through everything he has, even swallowed his pride to ask his father for a favor but all of his efforts are in vain. Vindictive, and vile Luke’s father has no intention of doing the right thing.
K-indling, for so long Luke and Coco have been friends now as neighbors they begin to discover much more.

R-eality, Luke has been so lost for so long his fight is all but waisted loyal to a fault he refuses to understand that ne needs to move on.
O-pinions, Coco is beyond tired of everyone one telling her who she should be with. Commitment isn’t easy and she is prepared to tough things out.
S-igns, knowing life has much more to offer Luke takes a giant leap. Exposing his heart has never been easy but the possibility of love pushes him forward.
E-asy, Luke never thought he would find peace but Coco does that for him she has mended his heart in a way he never imagined possible.

Like I stated earlier this isn’t your typical HEA its def done Skully style. Which means…simply put real and gritty. If you enjoy fiction doused and drenched w/ reality then this series is absolutely for you! There aren’t any magic tricks all of the characters take forever to learn and nothing is ever easy. Even 14 years later!! Shhhhh is waiting to hit the fan! I don’t agree with a lot of the choices a lot of the characters make but the same holds true with the choices people make in my day to day life. I wish I had gotten some closer w a couple of characters but hey it all adds to the mystery right?

My Rating

4.0 Years, Club, House, Booze, Cigs, Bossy, Bruise, Roses, Seattle love filled stars! for a lovely story that will pull on your heart strings pick up this series!

Summary

Ross Black is a failure.

He failed to protect his little brother from their past. He failed to keep him out of trouble. And now he’s having trouble holding onto the one girl who gets him. The one who makes him want to act like more of a man and less of an asshole. But he has a choice to make--take care of his brother or take care his heart. It's not an easy decision especially considering he's finally done something he never thought was possible: Fall in love.

Sheila Carlson is a lost cause.
She lost her sister. She lost her dream. And now she’s about to lose the one person she can count on. The one who makes her forget the worst parts of her life. When she learns a truth about her sister, she must decide what's more important, doing what’s right or what feels good.

Despite their issues, Sheila and Ross have something. It’s real. It’s raw. It’s probably wrong. But they’re determined to hold on for as long as they can. Especially if it means letting go of the things they’d rather forget.

The Way I See It

After reading Because of Luke I was very excited about Blackout…Things left off pretty dreary I won’t spoil either of the books in case you haven’t read them but man the ending was bleak. There are so many things I wanted from Luke that he just wasn't ready for ya know? He made a lot of mistakes and by the end of the first Lewiston Blues book he had yet to learn from them. In fact he kinda messes up pretty bad at the end, and causes not only himself pain but also those that mean most to him. He and his brother Ross were victims of their parent’s good intentions. Well you know what they say about the road to hell and what it’s paved with right? Blackout focuses on Ross Black he has serious demons to battle and he is determined to get it right. FX doesn't do daisies and rainbows her writing is gritty and very realistic. Her characters have lots of flaws and they don’t magically do a 180 turn they fall and fall and little by little they seek to find redemption. Ross is no different he had dreams and aspirations all of which he threw away to take care of his brother Luke when their parents were taken away. Losing his dreams Ross turned to a life of girls, parties, and booze. After realizing he and Luke could “make it” he latched on to a different dream. The girls and booze remained but instead of the parties they went on tour. Every decision Ross made lead to the current state of things with Luke and he feels like he has once again let down his brother. Blackout was intense and real…I can’t wait to see what FX has in store for this band of misfits.

B-
and, Ross realizes that he can no longer pursue his dream of stardom but now he is broken and doesn't know what to do.
L-
ove, seeing Luke in so much pain makes Ross vow to do what he can to restore some sort of happiness to his life no matter the cost.
A-
gony, Sheila losing the one thing that mattered most her leaves her in pieces the only solace she finds is in Ross’ arms.
C-
oward, Ross knows his life needs to turn and fast. He knows what he needs to do to help Sheila, but losing her frightens him deeply.
K-
ind, Cole has been helping Sheila as best as he can now he will help Ross see the way things must be no matter how painful the outcome.
O-
pportunity, Ross’ past will make a plea for him and try to push Sheila away. Knowing the decision she has made is final, Sheila will be honest with Ross and help him find a new dream with stability.
U-
mbrella, Ross has always been there to protect his brother. Luke realizes his actions are his own and he demands to stand on his own two feet from now on. He made a promise he intends to keep no matter the cost.
T-
ruth, Sheila and Ross have been through a lot, so many of their actions were self destructive it took a lot of mistakes and falls to realize where they belong. Their rode hasn’t come to an end it’s just begun.

Sigh…I completely understand FX and the way things are in the end she shows us all of the consequences these beautifully flawed characters have to live with. Life is hard you won’t find anything sugar coated in these pages. It takes everyone quite a long time to realize their mistakes but they work very hard to fix them. They aren’t fully mended but everyone is well on their way. I want Ross and Sheila to find happiness, I want Luke to become the man I know he can be…I want so much!!! Seriously I’m anxiously waiting to see how everything plays out.

My Rating
3.5 Rum, Broken, Intoxicated, Solo, Ex, Renovations, Subpoena, Cabin, Best Friend, College, Boston, Cemetery, Toddler, Love Confession filled stars! For a roller coaster of emotions that will have you at the edge of your seat pick up this gritty novel!

Excerpt

I knock but she doesn’t answer. So I take a chance and open the door. She’s sitting at the foot of the bed when I enter and all the lights are on. Like she’s afraid of what might come out the dark if she risks it. She’s perched on the edge of the mattress in nothing but her underwear and one of those thin tank tops she always wears. My body is urging me forward, begging me to sit beside her and wrap her in my arms. But my mind tells me to focus.
Focus on the mission, Ross. This isn’t the time to get distracted.
“Hey,” I say quietly. She doesn’t even flinch. “I just wanted to check on you. See if you’re okay.” I inch forward. “I’m so sorry. I wasn’t thinking. I don’t know what I was thinking.” She blinks her empty gaze shifting from the floor to the wall. “I know that must have been hard. I can’t even imagine.” Taking a few steps forward, I lower myself onto the bed beside her. “I just want to help. And I know I screwed up tonight. I was distracted by all this stuff with the club opening and I wasn’t thinking straight. I wasn’t focused on you and what you need, like I should have been.” I take her hand, sliding my fingers between hers. I rub my thumb slowly back and forth across her silky skin. “I’ve been here for you from the beginning, Blue. And I’ll always be here. I’m going to make sure you get through this.”
Sheila finally turns her head, her wide, watery blue eyes swallowing me whole. “She’s alone.”
Shit. I move closer and almost as if on instinct, she does the same, crawling into my lap. I force myself to stay neutral—fighting the urge to ease her off my thirsty body while at the same time coaching myself not to fall into old habits. Sheila presses her palm against my cheek and I close my eyes, my resolve quickly melting. Her lips brush slightly against mine and just when I think I’m about to explode, she rests her head against my shoulder and lets out a little sigh.
I brace myself, enjoying this for just a few more minutes before hoisting her up and moving to the side of the bed. I place her down gently, and pull the blankets over her. I know I shouldn’t ask, that it will make an already tough night damn near impossible but… “Do you want me to stay with you?”
She nods.
“Okay.”
I make my way across the room and turn off the main light. Then I start to remove my clothing. First my shirt, then my vest. But when I get to my jeans I pause. Crawling into bed half clothed, I reach across to turn out the lamp, but she stops me.
“Leave it on, please?”
“Okay,” I reply. Then I settle next to her, our bodies fitting together simultaneously—the smell of her hair torturing me as I coax myself to sleep.

Because of Luke

New Adult Contemporary Romance

Music, love and sibling rivalry…all Because of Luke.

Three years ago, Shannon was a wild child. Parties, boys. You name it, she did it. But she's changed and the only way to truly turn things around is to finish college and hop on a plane to…anywhere else. Until an unexpected encounter throws her off track.

Sheila’s been covering for her big sister for as long as she can remember. Now it’s her turn. But her rebellious plans don’t include small-town fun. She’s got her eye on something better—a group of budding rock stars and a summer-long tour.

In the middle of the sisters lands Luke, a determined college student who’s pretty sure he just met his soulmate. But loyalty to his big brother means leaving her behind to go on a three-month tour with his band. Desperate to get over the girl, he soon becomes entranced with the groupie who’s come along for the ride only to find he’ll have to make a tough choice—and not without breaking some hearts along the way.

Because of Luke is a bittersweet New Adult romance that begins in the Summer of 1991.

** This book contains profanity, alcohol and drug use, and explicit sex scenes. It is intended for individuals 18

The Way I See It

Egads! This book promised me a roller coaster of a ride and let me tell you! No lies there! Luke is a dream guy but he really gets run over, my heart broke for him. I ate this book up, definitely a page turner so much stuff happens its unbelievable. Set in 1991, it was a lot of fun to read all of the 1990 references! I'm looking forward to seeing this series continue because as it stands things are not looking good at the bat cave.

B-and, Luke has other dreams but he owes his brother so much he will have to put his life on hold just a bit longer.
E-ncounter, Shannon meets super sexy Luke and they have an instant connection.
C-areless, Shannon makes a mistake and disappoints her best friend.
A-ngry, Sheila is tired of living under her parents thumb she is determined to go live her dreams.
U-nwanted, Sheila's dreams would be complete if she could land her dream guy.
S-econd chance, Shannon makes a difficult decision because she is afraid.
E-scape, the life Luke is living is wild and fast. Pretty soon he will make a rash decision because of his broken heart.

O-pportunity, Dave has a history with Shannon he will offer her a chance at a peaceful life.
F-ate, comes crashing down on everyone at dinner. Luke realizes why his feelings are the way they are.

L-ove, is a mystery and a puzzle Shannon realizes her mistakes and is willing to work things out.
U-nknown, Sheila is young and ambitious feelings she thought were a mistake start to re-surface.
K-nife, Luke is granted an amazing gift and at the same time his heart will bleed for what he has lost.
E-normity, things have come to light nothing will ever be the same.

This is full of painful events with lots of heart break and miscommunication. Not to mention the drama there is loads and loads of drama. Luke's brother is broken but I want to see him happy. I know who I want him to be with, and I'm crossing all of my fingers and toes in the hopes of it coming true. This is Luke's story so I want him to be everything I know he can. I was really heartbroken at the end and wished for a different outcome but alas it did not work out that way. The steamy scenes were extra steamy. Scully knows how to hook a reader and keep em captivated.

My Rating

3.5 Lewiston, Library, Ice cream, Roof top, Seattle, Bus, Hotel, Ranch, Rat, Harley, Jail, Reflection filled stars. For a drama filled sexy read pick this book up!

LUKE

“Hey.” She tilts my head up to look at her, but the blue eyes aren’t helping. They’re only reminding me of what I left behind. “Hey,” she says a little louder this time. “You can do this. Remember what I told you back at that show in Lewiston?”
Now she wants me to recall days gone by? I can’t even remember my fucking middle name.
“You’re the talent,” she says with as much conviction as if she was telling me that boys have penises and girls have vaginas.
And as if that’s exactly what she’d just said, I laugh.
She frowns in response. “I’m serious. You’re a genius on that thing.” She nods toward my guitar. “Roscoe’s got a great voice, Dash and Ryan tear it up on the drums and keyboard, but you? With the bass and the voice? You’re,” she drops her voice to a whisper. “One day you’re going to be what they come to see. You’re amazing, Luke. Don’t forget it.”
She stands up, offering me a hand. For whatever reason, her pep talk seems to have worked. My breathing is back to normal and I can feel my fingers again. I take her hand, rising to my feet, but don’t say anything.
“What are you guys singing tonight?” she asks, even though I’m sure she already knows.
“The first song we wrote,” I reply. “Ross and I.”
“In Peace, right?” She grins and I can’t help but smile back. “That’s a good one.”
I nod. It is. If it weren’t for that song, performing it that night at Chagrin’s, we might not even be here. We wouldn’t be.
“Alright,” she says, still gripping my hand. “Five minutes. You got this?”
Five minutes. I nod. Shit. I’m starting to freak out again.
Sheila must sense this, because before my legs can give out on me or my hands can start shaking again, she’s up on her tiptoes pulling me toward her. When her lips cover mine, everything stops. My thoughts, my fears, my mini-freak out halts in place and all I can think about or feel is her soft mouth on mine. There’s no tongue at first. She just presses herself to me so hard I can’t help but give in. Then I start kissing her back. Not because I’m turned on or feel anything toward her at all, but because for whatever reason, it makes me feel like I’m in control of something again. Even though she’s the one doing all the work.
Her hands cup around the back of my neck, they move through my hair, grazing my scalp. Her tongue pries its way past my teeth to stroke my own and I welcome it. Before I know it, we’re full on making out, everything that clouded my mind before not even a memory.
It isn’t until I hear Roscoe yell, “thirty seconds!” that she pulls away and wipes her lips with the back of her hand.
“Better?” she asks.
I nod.
“Ready?”

“As I’ll ever be.”
