My Review:

Since You've Been Gone by Anouska Knight was a fun, sweet, romantic read! Lovable characters, great storyline and a captivating writing style makes this author's first novel a great reading escape!

In Since You've Been Gone we meet Holly Jefferson, a Cake shop owner, who is still struggling with the tragic loss of her husband. Almost two years have passed, but the emotional pain is still the same. Even if her family and co-worker, Jesse, show her their never ending support, her heart is numb and life without Charlie is harder that she ever could have imagined. When a cake delivery brings her face-to-face with mysterious Ciaran Argyll, Holly can't deny the attraction between them. There is just something about him that pulls her in. When Ciaran shows up at her work, she's both surprised and intrigued. Why would he come all this way just to deliver a piece of paper? When her business starts to bloom all of a sudden, she realizes that Ciaran is behind her recent deliveries. When she confronts him, he makes things clear to her that he wants to help her out. As the days go by, their friendship grows stronger and soon they can't deny the feelings that they are both developing for each other. Is Holly ready to give love a second chance? Will Ciaran's past cause some obstacles between him and Holly?

This was a sweet contemporary romance. The kind of romance that leaves you with a happy heart and a big smile. Holly and Ciaran were great characters to follow and fall in love with. Even if the beginning of the book was slow-paced my connection with both these characters was instant. My heart broke for Holly. It was such a heartbreaking story. I can't even imagine not having my husband next to me. He is my rock, my everything. I really liked Holly. She knew how to listen to her heart. When she first met Ciaran, yes she was intrigued, but she took things slow and listened to her gut feeling. Ciaran has a playboy reputation. It took her some time to see that his interest for her was sincere. She did not want to be just another conquest. Ciaran was already burned once in the past and what he feels for Holly is strong and powerful. He knows from the moment that he meets her that she is nothing like his ex-girlfriend. He's been staying away from relationships, but since the day he met Holly he just can't deny that she stole his heart. Ciaran was absolutely amazing! He was sweet, patient, kind and the way he fell for Holly was just beautiful! This book is filled with tender, romantic and emotinal moments.

My Rating:

I give, Since You've Been Gone, by Anouska Knight 3.5 sweet, heartwarming, romantic, enjoyable stars!

  1. It does sound sweet. Wonder why he decided to help her out? I'm glad she takes it slow. That would be real in her situation. Great review.
