Summary:

An easier and more peaceful life seemed to be destined for Ahmed and Tashera when they left Washington, DC and entered Georgia Atlantic University.  But when Ahmed is accused of a crime that he didn’t commit and begins to be tried in the media, his popularity plummets, his self-esteem suffers, and his dreams of playing college basketball disappear.

Meanwhile, there is a serial rapist on campus who has been attacking freshman girls at record numbers and forcing them to keep silent. As Tashera learns about the girls, she begins to close in on the rapist. But is the attacker too crafty to be caught? Will the state prosecutor ignore key evidence to instead focus on the fame that comes with convicting a high profile basketball star?

Tashera is beyond stressed as she divides her time between trying to find enough evidence to clear Ahmed while at the same time stopping the rapist who roams the campus of Georgia Atlantic.  Ahmed and Tashera’s journey into a new life away from home is more challenging than they ever thought that it would be.

Retaliation Series:

My Take on this Journey:

Accused, by Jasmin Shiraz, is sure to keep your night light shinning for hours.  This book is one of those you will not want to put down until the very last page is read.  Unfortunately, I was unaware that this was a second installment in the Retaliation Series.  There are many references to the first novel, Retaliation, which I would suggest you read first if you are going to read the series.

Ahmed and Tashera have been boyfriend and girlfriend for 3 years.  Their relationship is enviable.  Especially for the rich kid who thinks that he is invincible, Brandon.  Brandon comes from wealth, entitlement, intimidation, and danger.  He has always gotten what he wants, at any cost.  This segment starts with the first year at Georgia Atlantic College, and both Ahmed and Tashera have scholarships.  Ahmed is the up and coming basketball whiz kid and hopeful for the college team.  His competition is not very happy and will go to any lengths to replace the all star and take over his place on the team and status on campus.

The secondary characters, Zia and Morgan, are from Harris High School, and drawn into the web of the serial rapist, and all too calculating predator on campus. This novel will capture the essence of the mind of a serial rapist, the lengths a rapist will go to to seek and find it's prey, and how far they are willing to go to save their neck, including letting someone innocent take the rap for something they have done. This novel had me on pins and needles.

Ms. Shiraz weaved an all too realistic, emotionally charged, riveting, sadistic novel.  It was frightening to see how a deranged mind works and how everyone is drawn into their web of deceit. The manipulation, lies, coercion, black mail, drugs, rape, and high stakes, just to win.  It was also very scary to realize how fragile the mind is at such a young age, how a parent can turn their own child into a monster by their own actions.  We have a huge responsibility when rearing and teaching children and molding our youth.

Ms. Shiraz has a way of opening the readers eyes to the real world, the possibilities that can happen if we are not careful, and how drawn in and dangerous a criminal mind can be. Also, the fact that technology is very serious business, and how greed can make some people as crazed as the perpetrator himself!

I give, Accused, by Yasmin Shiraz, 4 Calculating, Mind Blowing, Realistic, Predatory Stars!!!

  1. More books I don't know. Though this isn't a genre that I normally read. Glad you enjoyed.
