eArc received for honest review

Brody Markham has endured a nightmare, spending the last five years in prison and losing everything that was dear to him. Now he’s back home, trying to survive in a world he doesn’t recognize anymore. While his family and friends desperately try to reach through to him, he shelters himself further and further away from their love.

Alyssa Myers has worked her entire life to distance herself from the luxurious and privileged lifestyle in which she was raised. Running her non-profit agency, The Haven, she is content to spend her days helping abused animals find sanctuary, which fulfills her in a way that money just can’t buy. Maybe it’s that she recognizes in Brody some of the same characteristics she sees in her homeless wards, but Alyssa is powerless to stop her personal quest to make Brody whole again.

While Brody struggles to surface from the darkness, Alyssa tries to protect her heart in case he’s not willing to accept the light that she offers him.

Last Call Series

On the Rocks (Last Call, #1)

Make It a Double (Last Call, #2)

My Review

Oh my squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Make It a Double by Sawyer Bennett exceeded all of my expectations! When I read Hunter's story (On the Rocks, Last Call #1) I absolutely fell in love with his brother Brody. I could not stop thinking about him! I forgot the last time a supporting character in a story caught my attention the way Brody did. I wanted to find out what was hiding behind those piercing eyes, most of all, I wanted to see him open his heart to Alyssa. Both of these characters captivated me from the very beginning and I stayed awake until early morning to finish reading their story.

In Make It a Double we follow Alyssa and Brody's journey. After spending five years in prison, Brody is ready to start a new chapter of his life. What he never expected was for Alyssa to take so much place in his life and in his heart. He can't deny the attraction between them, but he fights to stay away from her. She's a reminder of his past. A past he wants to forget. When Brody starts working for Alyssa at The Haven, he sees her in a new light. She's funny, full of life, determined and captivating. When Alyssa finds out something about Brody's past, she is determined to help him turn the page on events from the past and show him her full support for the new beginning he dreams of.

On the Rocks was the first book I read by Sawyer Bennett. I don't know why it took me so long to read one of her books!?!?!?! I'm hooked and I can't wait to read her other series! I knew going into this book that I was not going to be disappointed. I love her writing style, the banter between the characters, the romance, and of course, the steamy love scenes. Oh my God!!! You could feel the sexual tension between them and even though Brody was cold and mean at the beginning it soon turned into ''If I touch you, clothes will be flying'' kind of chemistry. I definitely got a few *Fans Self* moments. Alyssa and Brody are exactly the kind of couple I love to cheer for! Their love story melted my heart. There is a twist that I never saw coming and it literally broke my heart. When that twist happened, Alyssa and Brody's relationship started to grow and after that their bond was unbreakable.  Alyssa was like a healing balm for Brody. She was everything he needed to start living again. Not only did Alyssa give him all her support and comfort so did his family and friends. It was heartwarming to see his relationship with his family.

It was great to see Hunter and Gabby again and all of their friends. I love when we get to catch up with characters from previous books. I can't wait to see who's next!!! I'm crossing my fingers that it will be Hunter and Brody's sister, Casey, who will get her own story. The good news is ... I have time to catch up on some of Sawyer Bennett's other books until the next one comes out. The bad news is ... I want Casey's story like YESTERDAY!!!! ;)

My Rating

I give, Make It a Double, by Sawyer Bennett 4.5 heartwarming, sizzling, emotional, fascinating, passionate stars! The EPILOGUE in this book was AMAZING!!!!! I loved it!!! *Double Swoon*

About the Author

USA Today Best-Selling Author, Sawyer Bennett is a snarky southern woman and reformed trial lawyer who decided to finally start putting on paper all of the stories that were floating in her head. She is married to a mobster (well, a market researcher) and they have two big, furry dogs who hog the bed. Sawyer would like to report she doesn't have many weaknesses but can be bribed with a nominal amount of milk chocolate.
