GR's Summary:

Life can be cruel. People can be ruthless and evil. The world can be cold and uninviting. No one knows these things better than Josephine Geroux. By her own definition, she is a twenty-five year old “nobody with nothing,” and she is content to stay that way.  Growing up an orphan has made her tough and indifferent to the people around her until she meets a strangely familiar man with a face that haunts her for reasons she can’t understand.

Despite the pain that will inevitably ensue, she makes it her mission to discover what parts of her tragic puzzle she is missing. On her journey to discovering why she feels an alarming connection to an absolute stranger, her greatest fear is reawakening the demons and darkness from the past that will surely overtake her if she lets her guard down.

Little does Josephine know that the past should be the least of her worries.  She is toying with a man who has already broken her heart once.  She just doesn’t realize it.  Although she makes it a point to avoid interactions with others, Josephine’s life becomes entangled with the enigmatic stranger.  Before she realizes it, she has given herself over to the one person who is close enough to wreck her.

Lindy's Thoughts:

Wreck Me, by J.L. Mac, had me hooked from the tragically devastating scene that unfolds at the very beginning of the story.  What a page-turner!  This book was a really fast-paced read, that thoroughly engaged me from start to finish!  There weren't any lulls in, Wreck Me.  If anything, I read this book straight through the night, and finished it the very next day.  My first impression of the story based off of the book cover was that this would be a steamy romance full of passion, and sensual desires.  I was correct, but in no way did I realize just how much I would love the characters, plot, and the desire to begin the sequel immediately!

I loved the main female protagonist in the story, Josephine, nicknamed Jo. She was the ultimate strong, intelligent, loyal, and independent woman. She suffered a great deal in her life, since the death of her parents in a car crash, at such a young age. Afterwards, she had no family, was mistreated in the foster care system, bounced from orphanage to orphanage, until she finally ended up homeless.  The devastating tragedy in her life, caused a downward spiral, that she struggled to rise above.  Her love of books was how she escaped the miserable life she had been dealt, and the library became her home. She was well-read, and with the help of a kind, and caring librarian was able to take, and pass her GED.  From this point, she got hired by a feisty older man, named Sutton, who decided to take a chance on a homeless girl, let her work at his bookstore, and definately helped her to become self-sufficient.  Ultimately, because of his kind act, Jo was able to get off the streets with the earning of a consistent income.  She was rough around the edges, and a what you see is what you get type of gal.  I loved the authentic feel of her character.  She had a smart mouth, was blunt, spoke her mind, and stood-up for what she believed in.  I admired her independence, hard work ethic, loyalty to Sutton, and honesty.   Jo had a lot of baggage, but at the same time, was a very strong woman.  She learned from her lack of guidance, family, and a stable nurturing home how to be independent and strong.  Jo and Sutton had a surrogate father-daughter relationship. Even though they argued with one another, there was love, loyalty, and protectiveness between them. They were a family, and the bookstore was their home.

I also loved the male protagonist in the story, Damon.  He was handsome, well-built, confident, independent, and a successful entrepreneur.  When Damon sets his sights on Jo, he decides he wants her in his life, and won't take no for an answer. I loved how Damon was so protective of Jo, and would do anything in his power to make her happy.  He also had a very domineering, and kinky side to him, and Jo was very turned on by him, as he was by her.  Damon was also very close, and protective of his Grams.  He visited her regularly, and they mutually adored one another.  Grams was such a funny character. She was an older version of Jo.  Grams was independent, sassy, and an all around fun character. Of course Jo loved grams, and so did I!

J.L Mac, is an excellent storyteller! There were some things that I was able to figure out in the story right away, but there was also some surprises. This story was not only filled with romance, but was also sexually-intense, with explicitly detailed love scenes. These scenes were well-written, fun, adventurous, and vastly different from the more typical love scenes in romance novels. The cliffhanger, at the end of the story, had me crying, and desperate to get my hands on the sequel.  I need to know what is going to happen with Jo and Damon next!

Lindy's Rating:

I give Wreck It, by J.L Mac, 5 Intense, All Consuming, Hot, and Erotic Stars!  If you like a steamy love story, and explicit and descriptive sex scenes with an edge, I highly recommend this story!  This is the perfect read for lovers of, E.L. James', 50 Shades of Grey Series, and Sylvia Day's, Crossfire Series!

Lindy's Favorite Quotes:

"All I can see is him.  All I can smell is him.  All I can hear is him.  All I can taste is him.  All I can feel is him.  I feel so completely his and the sensation is like none I have ever felt.  I want to be his.  I want him to need me like he has said." (EARC, 112)

"I couldn't possibly love you any more than I already do. Josephine, my heart resides with you forevermore.  He remembers the quote on the back of my mother's watch.  The same quote my father said to my mother.  My heart squeezes painfully and I swear I could die of contentment." (EARC, 138)

The way Ria sees It

What a Roller coaster!!  This was such a great read!  So, lets get down to it!  Wreck me is a fast-paced, fun, and exciting read.  Often books tend to lean toward a female who is fragile or kind or innocent or pure...There is NOTHING wrong with that! (Remember, I love to read about angels. *winky face*)  Anyhow, Jo is none of those! I loved that she is real.  She is rough around the edges, and doesn’t care what anyone says!  She curses almost as much as I do, which is really cool!  Enough about me, Jo has been through so much.  She is so relatable, and that's absolutely refreshing. :)  From the first page to the last, this book will have you completely immersed with the characters, and what’s to come. There are moments in the book that anyone can imagine themselves in, causing a solid connection to the characters. Seriously, this book is un-putt-a-down-able!  NOW...Holy mother of all brutal, brutalist, most brutish, flipping, butterflying, freaking CLIFFHANGERS!!!  My mouth is still agape!  My eyes are still red from the tears!  The next book comes out soon, so with the help of some strenuous workouts, cycling, yoga, meditation, breathing, and my good friend Merlot (winky face), I might be able to make it... Just barely though.  If you don’t mind a bad a** cliffhanger, go get this great read now.  If you hate them...get it anyway, because the next book will be released Mar. 27 2013.  Not too bad right? ;)

Ria's fav’s

Jo

Aside from the fact that she has like the coolest name ever! Lol Josephine has overcome so much hurt, and turmoil, but she has done it in a realistic way. She has had to fight against the abusers and bullies, and she’s come out on top!  All of the loss and struggle has left her rough around the edges. Wouldn’t you be a little bitter if you had to fight for every meal or your sanity?  She clings to the good things, and is relentless in her love for her parents.  Mr. Sutton and she are two peas in a bookstore, and their relationship tugs at my heart.

Damon

Aside from being sexy as hell!!!  Well, he carries a burden so deep, and so heavy he has been dealing with this anguish for years.  He has one good person in his life before Jo, and that is his gram. Everyone else has been sh** to him.  Mom worthless, dad worse than horrible, siblings non-existent.  He has had to work very hard for his success and his sanity.  Upon meeting Jo, he falls for her...HARD! He want’s to give her the world he has built for himself.  Their love is so real, and so instant, it's beautiful to watch.  I love Damon and all his Alpha Male bossiness!  He is sex personified and he makes me swoon!
