True Love Born of Friendship

This is it! This is it! This is flipping it!! Gah talk about buckets of tears and pain. My heart broke for Cam. I’ve always felt as though he belonged to Jo! I’ve been screaming that from the roof tops since the very beginning. All of these beautifully broken characters have lived through so much. This final installment was absolutely brilliant in every single way. Cam and Jo ignited the pages and it was clear from the first page these two were meant for each other. Ryan has this uncanny power with words that will absolutely captivate and entrap you through to the very end. She does not follow the general rules with problem, climax, resolution. The story she has weaved is one with so many facets the intricacy of these characters situation is something I could not put into words.

B-ared, Jo has always seen right through Cam she is his angel on earth and the only woman who can shake him.
E-xistence, Cam has always been Jo’s world regardless of his deflections. His eyes and his heart spoke something different to her.

M-isguided, fighting everything his heart has ever wanted doesn’t seem to be working anymore. Cam’s resolve is melting but he’s not ready to give up.
I-nsufferable, Jo know’s something is going on with Cam but she is tired of fighting him at every turn.
N-arcotics, a constant threat in Cam’s childhood and it is only a brief sample of the horrors he faced.
E-therial, Cam cannot trust himself with Jo the demons within threaten to consume him and the last thing he could ever live with is hurting Jo.

F-rantic, the passion and love Cam shares with Jo is unlike anything either of them could have imagined. Both knew it would be magical but neither expected it to be life changing.
O-pportunities, Cam has come a long way from where he came. Finally accepting he can be everything to Jo both elates and frightens him.
R-eserved, Jo is not a shy woman she knows what she wants and will fight tooth and nail to make Cam open up to her.
E-scape, upon nearly destroying Jo Cam does the only thing he knows how…Run, but things are different this time he will fight every nightmare to get back to his light.
V-isceral, a haunting deep rooted fear needs to be let go and forgiveness granted. Completely different levels but both Jo and Cam need to give into each other’s hearts.
E-verything, clarity isn’t something that comes easily but with a new resolve Jo and Cam make a momentous decision that will be the beginning of the rest of their lives.
R-oad, things have been difficult but looking around at the dynamic of everyone’s relationships makes Cam smile he knows in his heart this is the way things should have been all along. Nothing in this world will every take his happy especially with Jo by his side.

The ending was beautiful to see and I completely agree with Cams thoughts of this is how things should have always been. Like I mentioned before these wonderfully beautifully broken characters have been through a lot. The character development for Cam was a gift to see I knew there was a wonderful man inside and I’m beyond happy he got his story. Jo? Don’t get me started on this beautiful firecracker she has always been a strong assertive character full of resolve and kill it attitude. We were able to look into her heart and see some of her fears. I can say with 100 percent certainty that these two belong together and Ryan proves that with the telling of this wonderful story. I absolutely recommend this series although Be Mine Forever can be read as a standalone I do not recommend that. To fully understand where all these wonderful characters came from I advise you start from the first book in this series. Bravo Ryan!
My Rating

Book Excerpt

“So you had a good time, huh?” Cam asked.
Jo caressed the gold leather of her shoe and trapped her bottom lip between her teeth for a moment before looking back at him.
“It was probably one of the best dates I’ve ever had.”
     You asked, masochistic bastard.
     “So you like this guy?”
“I like this guy a lot.”
Cam had no right to feel like a froth-mouthed rabid dog at the thought of some other man having Jo. He’d spent the last decade and a half doing everything in his power to convince her, without words, that they would never work.
Looked like she finally believed him.
And it was a stiletto twisting in his gut. Cutting through his good intentions. Slicing through flesh, tendon, sinew—until it reached the evil, selfish bone. He wanted to cut the gold confection right off Jo’s lean, curvy body. Snip it away from her lush ass and splay her on the desk. Spread her, eat her, consume her until she didn’t even know her name. Couldn’t even speak because pleasure stole her words, stole her breath, stole her reason. Show her what it really felt like to be possessed by a man who couldn’t keep his eyes off her, as hard as he’d always tried.
Who cared enough about her to keep his damn hands to himself.
It was much harder watching Jo ride off into the sunset with some other guy than he had thought it would be. Even one so obviously perfect for her. So obviously much better for her than he would be.
Cam stood and walked toward Jo, stopping just shy of her immediate orbit. The truth and a lie wrestled in his mouth until they both escaped through tight lips, sounding exactly the same.
     “I’m glad.”
“He asked me out again tomorrow.” She tilted her head, considering him like a misbehaving theorem. “Should I go?”
Cam refused his face what it wanted—to frown, scowl, furrow, squeeze his displeasure out through each feature. Instead he freeze-dried all his emotions for later and blanked his expression.
“I can’t tell you what to do.”
Jo searched his face with those eyes, the color of the moon and as omniscient. So like Ms. Kris’s eyes. Not the color or the shape, but gifted with true sight. Insight. In her wisdom, surely Ms. Kris had seen the darkness that even now threatened to swallow Cam whole, but she had loved him in spite of it. And Jo had those eyes, too, only something had changed since he had so deliberately hurt her in New York with Etty. Something in Jo’s heart was dying a slow but certain death. Probably the misplaced affection she’d held on to for years. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to place a pillow over its head or give it mouth-to-mouth. Kill or save. Alive or dead, it threatened his peace of mind.
