GR's Summary:
From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Bully, Until You, Rival, and Falling Away comes the sizzling conclusion to the Fall Away series.

The tables have turned. Now I have the power—and it’s his turn to beg…

Everyone wants to be me.

Maybe it’s the sway of my skirt or the way I flip my hair, but I don’t care. Even though their attention is the last thing I crave, I just can’t stop. I dominate the track, the speed rattles my bones, and the wind and the crowd screams my name.

I’m her. The girl driver. The queen of the race. And I’m surviving—something he thought I’d never do.

They all still talk about him. Did you see Jared Trent on T.V? What did you think of his last race, Tate? When is he coming back to town, Tate?

But I refuse to care too much. Because when Jared does come home, I won’t be here.

Tatum Brandt is gone. I’m someone new.

Lindy's Thoughts:

The Fall Away Series has been a phenomenal and addictive! This is the type of series that pulls you in completely, and before you know it, you're obsessed with the characters and all of their stories. Ms. Douglas has made me fall in love with these beautifully crafted, complex, and multi-layered characters. They are flawed, vulnerable, make mistakes and are as real as you and me.

When I first found out that there would be another story about Jared and Tate, I was ecstatic. I can't get enough of these two. They are both strong characters full of passion, fire, and life. Even though I was worried, and sad to see Jared and Tate go through new challenges, I realize that it was necessary. They both needed to make mistakes, have new experiences, and grow. I loved the approach that Ms. Douglas took with this story. It was extremely true to life, and true to the fact that people need to find their own path in life, and be happy with themselves, before they can be happy with someone else.

In Aflame, we get both Jared and Tate's dual perspectives. Jared is living in Southern California and is successful. He is a professional motorcycle racer, and business owner. He never forgot about Tate or stopped loving her. He has avoided his hometown of Shelburne Falls, and any talk of Tate, because it is too painful.

Tate has moved on, and is currently involved in a relationship with a nice, safe, and stable guy. She is a successful college student, and has just been accepted in to medical school at Stanford in the fall. An unexpected event, leads Jared to return to his hometown. He soon realizes that he loves Tate and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. However, he quickly learns that Tate has changed, and is not the girl she use to be. He doesn't know if he can win her heart and trust back, but as far as he's concerned, failure is not an option.

Aflame was a very emotional, passionate, and thoughtful page-turner. I loved the tremendous character growth that Jared and Tate underwent in this story. Jared had to learn how to deal with his emotions in a more positive manner, and that he couldn't bully Tate in order to get his way anymore. Tate was strong, independent, and a woman now. However, she had to learn forgiveness, and how to trust again. Jared and Tate were hotter than ever together. The passion between these two just continues to grow and consume them both!

Fans of the Fall Away Series will be ecstatic to know that we get plenty of scenes with Madoc, Fallon, Jax, and Juliet. Madoc was hilarious, and offered a ton of laughs in this final segment of the series! He was entertaining, full of great advice, and the life of the party. There were emotional scenes, heartwarming moments, and a look in to the future. Ms. Douglas gave us a wonderful ending, yet kept it open-ended if she ever decides to do a spin-off of the next generation of characters.

My Rating:

I give, Aflame, by Penelope Douglas, 5 Gripping, Moving, Pulse-Pounding, Passion, and Frenzy Filled Stars! While it was bittersweet watching this series come to an end, I was left very happy with the way Ms. Douglas wrapped everything up!

Mikki's Review:

Nooooo!!!! I don’t want this series to end!!!

Do you ever wish you can go back in time and read a book for the first time? I do!! I wish that I could go back in time and read all the books in the Fall Away series for the first time. I only have a few authors who are on my auto-buy list. Whoever ends up on that list does not even have to write a blurb for their books. Whatever they write I will read it! Penelope Douglas is one of the authors on my auto-buy list. I have read every single book that she has written and will continue to escape into the fascinating worlds that she creates.

When I finished reading Falling Away, which is the third book in the Fall Away series, I was an emotional mess. I was screaming at Jared because he was breaking Tate’s heart. This couple is in my top five favorite couples and it was breaking my heart to see what was happening to them. I could not understand why this had to happen at the moment, but the one thing I knew for sure is that the author was going to deliver a final book packed with intense moments. I am so glad that Jared decided to bug Penelope Douglas until she had no choice but to write the final chapters in this amazing love story.

Aflame is the last installment in the Fall Away series. I highly recommend that you read the previous books in this series. I can’t recommend them enough ! All the characters in this series have a piece of my heart and I have no doubt that they will steal a piece of yours as well! They are such a fun crew to follow!!!I Guaranteed fun and sexy times with the Fall Away crew! If you have read the previous books in this series since Bully you know that Tate and Jared have had some ups and downs, but nothing major ... until the ending of Falling Away happens. Jared takes a big decision that puts his relationship with Tate at risk. He decides to leave and when he comes back to town a couple of years later he finds a Tate who is stronger and more determined than ever. From the moment that they both come face-to-face their intense chemistry is undeniable. They know that they belong together, but will they be able to forgive and forget everything that has happened the last two years and finally get their HEA?

For me this was an epic conclusion to one of the best love story that I have ever read. What I loved about Aflame was that it was written in such a way that the Tate and Jared were able to evolve on a personal level and has a couple as well. They have made good and bad decisions, but you know what? We all do and we live, we learn and we move on. I’m really proud of both these characters and of everything that they have learned from each other. They have changed so much since I first met them in Bully. Jared learned how to let go of his past and he found out what he really wanted in life. He has never been more determined to get his girl back. I loved the way he came back in her life and turned it upside down. Even if Tate is determined to show him that she moved on, he knows deep down that she will always be his forever girl. Oh, boy! And, what a deliciously addictive battle did these two deliver. It gave me shivers!!!!

Aflame is my favorite book after Until You. Jared’s POV is something you do not want to miss! It’s perfection!!! I had a blast reuniting with Madoc, Fallon, Jax and Juliet. They have all an important role in this book and I loved how they all showed support to Tate and Jared. The bond that Madoc and Tate have is PHENOMENAL!!!! I love how he takes care of her. He’s such an amazing friend. I am so sad to see this series end, but I cross my fingers that the author will come back and revisit Fall Away Lane in the future ;)
My Rating:

I give Aflame, by Penelope Douglas, 5 passionate, intense, heart-pumping, epic, sexy, you’re-mine-and-you-know-it stars!
