Summary
For the past two months, Kitty Doe's life has been a lie. Forced to impersonate the Prime Minister's niece, her frustration grows as her trust in her fake fiancé cracks, her real boyfriend is forbidden and the Blackcoats keep her in the dark more than ever.

But in the midst of discovering that her role in the Hart family may not be as coincidental as she thought, she's accused of treason and is forced to face her greatest fear: Elsewhere. A prison where no one can escape.

As one shocking revelation leads to the next, Kitty learns the hard way that she can trust no one, not even the people she thought were on her side. With her back against the wall, Kitty wants to believe she'll do whatever it takes to support the rebellion she believes in—but is she prepared to pay the ultimate price?

Those Closest Can Be the Deadliest

This is going to be a tough one for me because if I’m perfectly honest Captive fell a little short of my expectations. Pick up your jaw, it’s okay Captive was still a good read. I just enjoyed the first one so much more. There is nothing wrong with a little sophomore slump especially if it leads to the most amazing ending ever!! What happened? The beginning was a little slow and there was like none to minimal back story. For about 25% there was some confusion because it picks just after the MEGA cliffhanger ending from the first. Not a big deal if you read them back to back but I read Pawn like at least 100 books ago that’s a boat load of information so I tend to need a bit of a recap off the bat. BUT DAYUM!!!! As soon as the action starts…it does NOT stop. Like BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! and just when you thought you knew up from down…BAM! oh and don’t forget about the END?! YIKES! Feelers... EXPLOSION!!! I am so excited to see what happens next!!

C-ircle, Kitty has always been kept in the dark. Attempting to make a stand for herself results in a worse off situation
A-pprehensive, Knox has supposedly had her best interest at heart. After an intense confrontation Kitty will find herself completely alone.
P-romise, things are not what they seem but Kitty’s life hangs by a thread. She will be introduced to unimaginable horrors.
T-rust, during an incredibly dark hour powerful allies will emerge providing Kitty with the surge she desperately needed.
I-nnocent, everyone has played a crucial role those closest can be the deadliest. War on the precipice it was only a matter of time before everyone’s card was reviled.
V-indication, Kitty has sat idly by avoiding her fate but with a new resolve she will set out to right her wrongs.
E-ntwined, the face of the nation now has two…One on each side Kitty will prepare to prove who she really is.

Eureka folks…Ugh, Kitty has a lot of character development left in her. Like seriously I wanted to murder her myself. A. Lot. then at the end there is a light switch that goes off!! I was relieved to say the least. OMG Benjy who is the love of her life…all she’s ever known…Only person she trusts…Blah, blah, blah, BORING!! I feel like she’s dating her brother I’m waiting for a miracle I guess because anytime Knox gets close some serious ish goes down and Kitty hates him. UGH why do I always pick the wrong guy? I love Knox and I think he may care for Kitty more than he lets on. Benjy? He is like all american do gooder and Kitty is such a firecracker she needs someone like Knox.

Get ready to have your socks knocked off though cause this installment will have you picking up your jaw the surprises and punches just keep on rolling. Even though this hasn’t been my favorite I’m looking forward to Queen!!! Eeeeeep! I can’t wait!!

My Rating
3.25 Party, Faint, Gross, Gun, Meeting, Lock, Files, Death, Elsewhere, Red, Cage, Manor, Visitor, X, Eyes, Codes, Chopper, Fire, Tunnel, Announcement, Lila, Kitty, Harts…Queen holy cannoli whats going to happen next crazy intense filled stars!
