GR's Summary:

From the moment she saw Shawn Scarlett perform at a school talent show, Kit Larson has loved two things: the guitar, and the gorgeous, green-eyed boy who inspired her to play. But one careless night in high school shatters her hope of ever being more than a notch on his bedpost.

Six years, two bands, and one mostly-mended heart later, Kit’s about to make her rock star dreams a reality as the new guitarist for Shawn’s band, The Last Ones to Know. He may not remember their reckless night together, but Kit has never forgotten… and she’s determined to make him eat his heart out.

The release of their new album means a month cooped up on a tour bus, sleeping inches away from the ridiculously sexy musician she’s never quite gotten over. And as Kit gets to know the real Shawn—not Shawn Scarlett, the rock god, the player—their attraction becomes too hot to resist. But the past is paved with secrets, and when they finally surface, Kit could lose everything: the band, the music, her dreams… and Shawn.

My Thoughts:

I'm virtually jumping up and squealing, "I love this series!!!"  It is one of my favorite rockstar romances of all time!  It's hard for me to comprehend that Jamie Shaw's Mayhem, was her debut.  I have LOVED, each and every book in this series!  I will admit that I am like a little kid on Christmas every time I get a new book in the Mayhem Series.  Right when I got this book, I dropped everything that I was suppose to be reading, and read Chaos in one sitting.  I've gotten to know these sexy, fun, and drool worthy rockstars, and fallen in love with every single one of them, and their leading ladies.

In Chaos, we get my most anticipated book in the series, Shawn Scarlett's story!  Shawn is Adam, the lead singer's best friend, and has been my favorite band member since book one.  He's a great friend to all the guys in the band, and has helped each of them out when they were having problems with their leading ladies.  He has a good sense of humor, his number one passion is his music, and he's an all around likeable guy.

The story begins six years in the past.  Kit Larson is a freshman in high school, and has had a crush on Shawn ever since she saw him play guitar with Adam in his Jr. high school talent show.  Shawn just graduated high school and is about to take off with the rest of the band to pursue their music.  At Adam's graduation party Kit decides to make her move.  She ends up having sex with Shawn and he promises to call her, but never does.  Needless to say, she's devastated.

The story than fast forwards to the present time, which coincides partially with the same timeline as book two, Riot.  The band, The Last Ones to Know, are holding auditions for a new rhythm guitarist.  Kit tries out because it has been her dream to pursue music, and she loves The Last Ones to know.  She is accepted in to the band, but doesn't know how she is going to function being on the same tour bus as Shawn.  However, he doesn't appear to remember their one night together, so Kit decides to leave it in the past.  As Kit and Shawn begin to spend a lot of time together, their friendship grows, and they realize how much they have in common.  The chemistry and attraction between them becomes more intense, and Kit's feelings for Shawn consume her.  Can she trust Shawn and take a chance on love with him?  Or, will he break her heart all over again?

Kit and Shawn are both wonderful character's, but needed to work on their communication skills.  The friendship that blossomed between them grew in to love.  I enjoy when their is a strong foundation, before two characters fall for one another.  It makes the romance more believable.  Ms. Shaw knows how to make the chemistry between two character's sizzle.  She created anticipation, and expertly built the sexual tension between Shawn and Kit.

There were a ton of amazing secondary characters as well.  We get the guys from the band and the women that they love; Adam & Ro, Joel & Dee, and Mike.  We get Leti, Ro's best friend, as well as all of Kit's sexy, fierce, and intimidating brothers, Mason, Ryan, Bryce, and Kale.  I am really hoping that the Larson Brothers get their own series eventually.  I love this whole family.  They are fun, fiercely loyal, protective, and hilarious!

The last story in the Mayhem Series will be about the drummer, Mike Madden.  I can't wait because I have loved every single book in this series, and Mike is a very unique rockstar.  He doesn't like groupies, and wants to find himself a good girl to love.  He had his heart broken by his first love, and hasn't met anyone significant since.  I want this good guy with a huge heart to get his "happily ever after!"  I can't wait for his story, and to get more of this excellent cast of character's!

My Rating:

I give, Chaos, by Jamie Shaw, 5 toe-curling kisses, sexy secret trysts, making passionate music together filled stars!!!  If you enjoy a fun, sexy, adventurous, and light hearted rockstar romance, with strong friendships, read the Mayhem Series!

  6. The covers for this series are gorgeous, especially Chaos. I may have to look this one up. Have I stayed away from rockstar romances so long that I've been missing all the great ones? Some of the reviews/spotlights that you post are so foreign to me. I need to get back in the game. Seriously!
