GR's Summary:

Guardian trainee Violet Fairdale is just weeks away from one of the most important occasions of her life: graduation. After messing up big time by bringing a human into the fae realm, Vi needs to step up her game and forget about Nate if she hopes to graduate as the top guardian of her year. Everything would be fine if she wasn’t forced to partner with Ryn, her ex-friend, ex-enemy, current ‘sort of friend’. They might be trying to patch up their relationship, but does she really want to spend a week undercover with him for their final assignment? On top of that, the possibly insane Unseelie Prince is still on the loose, free to ‘collect’ as many specially talented faeries as he can find—and Vi is still at the top of his list. Add in faerie queens, enchanted storms, complicated not-just-friends feelings, and a murder within the Guild itself, and graduation is about to become the least of Vi’s problems.

My Thoughts:

First off, I want to say that I think the book cover of The Faerie Prince is absolutely beautiful, and representative of an amazing story!  The Creepy Hollow series is magical, mysterious, intriguing, and addicting!  I was so excited to continue Violet's adventure, after reading the first book in the series, The Faerie Guardian.  I loved the sequel even more than the first book in the series, and that's saying a lot, because the first book was excellent!  The story opens with Violet watching Nate's window, night after night, hoping for a glimpse of him, and trying to heal from her heartbreak.  Vi and Ryn are trying to be friends again, but are awkward with one another.  Then, comes the time for all of the trainees to become paired up for their final assignment before their graduation to become guardians.  Vi and Ryn get paired up as partners, and are given the task of looking into a matter for the Seelie Queen.  Vi is disappointed because this task appears small, easy, and boring, while her other classmates get to travel to exotic places, and put their guardian training to the test.  However, this task isn't as simple as it appears to be, and Vi, and Ryn are pulled into a dangerous, and challenging situation that involves the powerful and evil Unseelie Queen, and her two sons.

The Faerie Prince was imaginative, beautifully described, fast-paced, action-packed, full of mystery, and suspense.  Ms. Morgan is a very talented author.  She knows how to get the reader intrigued with her story telling skills, and before you know it, you are hooked, and do not want to put the book down.  There were so many twists and turns, and this story was one large never ending adventure.  There were many sub plots that connected with the main plot in surprising ways, and much like an intricate puzzle, I enjoyed attempting to decipher the clues, and put them all together, to figure out the whole picture.    The pace of this story had me looking at the book saying, "Wow, I already read 100 pages?"  Then, before I knew it I was thinking, "Awww, I only have 30 pages left to go."  This story was so entertaining, that I didn't want it to end!

I loved the fact that one of my favorite characters, Ryn, was a major part of the story line.  Ryn and Vi are meant to be together.  They have such a dynamic chemistry when they are together on the page.  They constantly have a push, pull relationship occurring between them.  I love Vi and Ryn's playful banter, snarky sarcasm, flirting, and magnetic chemistry with one another.  I loved the build up of these two coming to terms with their feelings for one another.  In the majority of the first book their was no love lost between them, then in this story, they really took the time to rebuild their childhood friendship, and got to know one another on such a deep level.  They learned each other's greatest fears, hopes, dreams, and secrets.  Ryn challenges Vi like no one else possibly can, and she challenges him right back!  Vi is a strong, intelligent, and courageous character.  Yet , she isn't perfect.  She is real authentic, and comes to life.  Vi has very "human" traits.  She is also stubborn, impulsive, impatient, and doesn't like admitting when she is wrong.  She is such a well-rounded character, and the more I get to know her, the more I like her.  Vi made a huge amount of character growth in this sequel.  Originally, Vi was very closed off from all of the pain, and loss in her life.  She learned to let herself "feel" her emotions,  how to trust, and take a chance, at the expense of having her heart broken.  Ryn, also grew immensely.  He learned how to admit when he was wrong, he also learned how to trust, and take a chance on Vi.  Their relationship was very real, and refreshing!

The ending of The Faerie Prince has me anxious, impatient, and excited to read the next book in this series!  Ms. Morgan, you are torturing me with that ending!  Vi has a whole other set of problems, and the mystery and suspense continues to build.  Things were not tied up in a nice little neat bow!  Vi's adventure is far from over, and I for one, can not wait to dig in, and see how this series ends!!!

My Rating:

I give, The Faerie Prince, 5 thrilling, exciting, mysterious, and swoon worthy stars!  This book has all of the dynamics of an amazing read.  It has mystery, suspense, action, romance, and passion.  It also has well rounded characters, that experience growth, a highly imaginative, and engaging plot, and steamy romance that is sure to leave you wanting more!  If you enjoy YA Fantasy, The Faerie Prince, and specifically, The Creepy Hollow Series, then this is an excellent choice for A Bookish Escape!

My Favorite Quotes:

I'm suddenly aware of how close he's sitting to me.  I'm aware of his knee touching my thigh, and his hand carefully holding mine.  I watch his face as he works, his beautiful blue eyes intent as he moves to my left hand and concentrates on smoothing the gel over it.  My gaze falls on his lips.  I really, really want to know what it feels like to- (eARC, 90)

"We should have been back at the Guild days ago!  And here we are, sleeping in the dirt, sliding through the mud, and smelling like crap.  Ryn snickers, 'Oh, baby, I love it when you talk dirty.'  I shove a fistful of muddy leaves into his laughing mouth.  ' There.'  I smile sweetly.  'Now you can talk dirty too." (eARC, 104)

"Ryn isn't just the guy I used to know, or the guy I had to put up with during our final assignment.  He's someone I actually enjoy being around.  Someone I can shout at and fight with and have everything go back to normal in just a few minutes."  (eARC, 122)

"He pulls me back into position.  'Oh, I forgot to tell you something,'  he says.  He leans forward and his lips brush my ear as he whispers, 'You are more beautiful than any other girl in this room."  (eARC, 151)

Instead of fighting it, I close my eyes and let myself go.  I feel the muscles of his shoulder beneath my hand.  The frame his arms create is strong, secure, but I want those arms tighter around me.  Much tighter, much closer.  I want there to be no space at all between us.  I.  Want.  Him.  So.  Badly.  I want to kiss him, laugh with him, cry with him, share every freaking moment of my life with him because no matter how many awful things he's done in the past, I can't shake the undeniable feeling that when his arms are around me, I'm home.  (eARC, 152)

About the Author:

Rachel Morgan was born in South Africa and spent a large portion of her childhood living in a fantasy land of her own making.
