Source: Publisher eARC received in exchange of honest review GR's Summary: Join Jake & Chelsea, Stanton & Sofia, Brent & Kennedy as they navigate the hilarious and heartwarming hurdles of love, life and the law in this final addition to the Legal Briefs Series. There was a time when Jake Becker had it all together. He was controlled, driven, ruthless—in and out of the courtroom. Then, six irresistible orphans and their heartbreakingly beautiful aunt crashed into his perfectly ordered life. They changed everything. They changed him. Now he’s a husband, an upstanding member of society, a father figure—a family man. And he’s pretty damn good at it. Sure, he has to referee sibling smackdowns, re-learn algebra, ensure his clients stay of jail, and keep his wife happy—but it finally feels like he’s got it together again.... So, of course something has to screw it all up. It’s huge. Life-changing. Kind of terrifying. And it will be the most amazing, perfect thing he’ll ever do.
The Legal Briefs: Our Review on Overruled Here Our Review on Sustained Here Our Review of Appealed Here
Emma Chase is one of my favorite, go-to-romance- authors. I love the humor, and carefree feeling that her stories invoke in me. Whenever I'm reading one of her books I finds myself laughing out loud, blushing, covering my mouth, and having one-sided conversations with my kindle. My odd bookish behavior oftentimes, has my husband scratching his head and asking me, "What's so funny?" If you have read a book by Emma Chase before, than I imagine you know exactly what I am talking about. In Sidebarred, Ms. Chase has treated her readers to a great little novella that takes place at the end of The Legal Briefs Series. This story focuses on Chelsea, Jake, and the hilarious and always entertaining McQuaid children. However, we also get a significant amount of details about Stanton and Sofia, and Brent and Kennedy. We get to learn what happens after, happily ever after. Sidebarred was a pure delight that focused on marriage, intimacy, parenthood, and friendship. In Ms. Chase's signature writing style, Sidebarred was filled with humor, swoon-worthy moments, heart-warming scenes, and an authentic and realistic cast of characters, as well as real life situations. If you've never read a book by Ms. Chase, you are missing out. I highly recommend The Legal Briefs Series, and Sidebarred is the cherry on top!
I give, Sidebarred, by Emma Chase, 4.5 Sweet, Realistic Romance, Laugh-Out-Loud Funny, Sigh Worthy Filled Stars! Thanks for this bookish treat Ms. Chase!!!
Oh.my.sweetness!!!! Where do I even start with Sidebarred?!?!?!? It was the most heartwarming, sexy, fun and unforgettable novella that I have ever read! Chelsea and Jake are absolutely beautiful together! I love when authors write check-ins of my favorite couples. It's always exciting to catch-up and fall in love with them all over again. So when I heard that Emma Chase was writing Sidebarred, I was extremely excited!! I would not miss my chance to revisit the characters that have brought so much joy in my life. Stanton, Sofia, Brent, Kennedy, Chelsea, Jake and all the McQuaid kids are absolutely irresistible! If you have not read The Legal Briefs Series, what are you waiting for?!?! Sidebarred can't be read as a standalone. You need to at least read Sustained, which is Chelsea and Jake's story. You will get minor spoilers about the other two couples in Sidebarred, but that should not stop you from reading Overruled and Appealed. They are fantastic books! In Sidebarred we follow Chelsea McQuaid and Jake Becker's journey as husband and wife. Two years have passed since they tied the knot and Jake could not be happier. Waking up to the woman of his dreams and the six kids that fill his life with happiness is everything to him. He would not change it for anything in the world. We follow them in their daily life and through their ups and downs as a family. Chelsea and Jake's life is about to get even more exciting. Are they ready for what is about to change their life forever? Chelsea and Jake are absolutely fantastic together and you could feel their connection grow stronger than ever in this novella. Can I just say that this novella was an absolute swoon fest! Jake Becker is all kinds of sexy and adorable. He's an awesome uncle, a wonderful husband and a precious friend. Chelsea is sweet and lovable and she knows when to put her foot down when she needs to. They are perfect for each other and you can feel it! I love that they are so easy to relate to and that they go through ups and downs just like us. It was an amazing journey and I was extremely happy to reunite with all the crew from The Legal Briefs Series. I would also like to add that the Epilogue was FANTABULOUS!!! I was left with a big smile on my face! I highly recommend this series. Emma Chase does not disappoint!
I give, Sidebarred, by Emma Chase, 5 beautiful, tender, romantic, page-turning stars!
By day, Emma Chase is a devoted wife and mother who resides in a small town in New Jersey. By night she is a keyboard crusader, toiling away the hours to bring her colorful characters and their endless antics to life. She has a long standing love/hate relationship with caffeine. Emma is an avid reader. Before her children were born she was known to consume whole books in a single day. Writing has also always been a passion and with the 2013 release of her debut romantic comedy, Tangled, the ability to now call herself an author is nothing less than a dream come true.
