GR's Summary:

What happens when a girl who always calls the shots meets a guy who's too wild for even her?

A born flirt and good-time party girl, Emerson has never had a problem finding a willing guy. She's always chosen her hookups carefully, and she's never broken her three cardinal rules:

Never let them see the real you.Never fall in love.Always leave them begging for more.

Then Shaw comes along. A hottie from the wrong side of the tracks, he's immune to her flirtatious banter and come-hither smile. After rescuing her from a disastrous night at a biker bar, he doesn't even try to take her to bed--he calls her a tease and sends her home instead. Unable to resist a challenge, or forget the sexy, dark-eyed, bad-boy biker, she vows to bring him to his knees.

But instead of making Shaw beg, Emerson finds herself craving him. For the first time in her life, she's throwing out her rule book. Suddenly, she's the one panting for a guy she can't control--a guy who won't settle for anything less than the real Emerson and who forces her to do things she's never imagined, including facing a past she thought she'd buried.

A guy who just might leave her wanting more. . .

 The Ivy Chronicles:

My Thoughts:

Sophie Jordan has blown me away with The Ivy Chronicles!  If you love New Adult Romance, this series is a must read!  In Foreplay, I fell in love with Pepper, and Reese.  I was introduced to an amazing cast of secondary characters, and one of my favorite's was Emerson (Em), one of Pepper's closest friends.  Seeing Em from Pepper's point of view was vastly different from being inside of her head, and learning who she really was as a person.  Em puts on a facade for the outside world.  Even her closest friends, Pepper, and Georgia, don't know the real her.  Em portrays herself as strong, confident, adventurous, and wild.  However, she really is insecure, scared, and has to be in control of every situation.  She has experienced a traumatic event that changed her way of thinking concerning men.  Also, she has wealthy, superficial parents that never have time for her, and all they care about is appearances.  Em goes bar hopping, gets drunk, and hooks up with a different guy every friday night.  However, she always picks the same kind of guy. Every time she picks a guy that she can easily control, is nonthreatening, and someone she know's that she could never care about.

Then she meets Shaw.  Shaw is not a boy, he is a man.  A gorgeous, strong, marine, who likes to take charge,  Em and Shaw share an intense sexual chemistry, and whenever they are in the same space, they cannot take their eyes off of each other.  Shaw is determined to see where their sizzling hot connection goes.  However, Em has decided that she can not have anything to do with Shaw.  She knows that he is different from the boys she usually messes around with, and Shaw cannot be controlled by anyone.  Shaw is Reese's good friend from high school, and the two find each other hanging out with friends in the same social circle.  No matter how hard Em tries, she just cannot resist Shaw.  These two end up having such fun interactions with one another.  We get the fun arguing that is a form of their own special foreplay, fun and flirty banter, and most of all a deep emotional connection that develops between the two of them.

Tease was such a beautiful story.  It had depth to the romance, and gave me a few surprises along the way.  My favorite aspect of this story was how Shaw broke down Em's walls little by little.  He was so patient and persistent with her.  Whereas, most guys would have given up with how many times she gave him the brush off, shaw never gave up on her.  He saw the real Emerson, and she didn't stand a chance against the charming, caring, witty, and strong man!  The intensity and passion between these two characters was smoking' hot!  It reminded me of Noah, and Allie from my favorite movie, The Notebook. Georgia and Logan's story, Wild, is next, and I can't wait!  I love the way Ms. Jordan uses the same cast of characters in every segment in this series.  I feel like I know Pepper, Emerson, and Georgia, as well as Reese, Shaw, and Logan!  Tis series is highly addictive, and should come with a warning label, because you will suffer a major book hangover after you finish each book in this series!

My Rating:

I give, Tease, by Sophie Jordan, 4.5 Sexy, Emotional, Passionate, and Addictive Stars! These stories can be read as standalone novels, because each segment is about different characters.  However, trust me when I say, you should read each segment!  If you are a fan of passionate romances, with depth, and are part of discovering who you are along the way, Tease is a great choice for a bookish escape!

My Favorite Quotes:

"Love was losing control.  And I never lost control.  I just made it look like I did-hooking up with different guys every week--but I was always fully cognizant of my actions.  In charge every moment along the way."  (eARC, Loc. 85)

~Emerson

"When we have sex, it won't be a surprise."  His voice eddied through me, deep and dark, a current of heat that shot right between my legs.  "You'll know its coming.  You'll want it.  Mind and body.  You'll beg me to make love to you.  I'll make sure of that, Emerson."  (eARC, Loc. 1743)

~Shaw

"He took me.  He f***ed me.  He loved me.  And I knew with a sense of shock that this was more than sex.  He'd stamped himself not just on a canvas for me.  He'd etched himself on me.  Indelibly.  He was under my skin.  In my blood.  A part of my soul."  (eARC, Loc. 3093)

~Emerson
