GR's Summary

There are two kinds of people in the world. The ones who look first, and the ones who leap. I’ve always been more of a looker. Cautious. A planner. That changed after I met Drew Evans. He was so persistent. So sure of himself – and of me.

But not all love stories end happily ever after. Did you think Drew and I were going to ride off into the sunset? Join the club. Now I have to make a choice, the most important of my life. Drew already made his –in fact, he tried to decide for the both of us. But you know that’s just not my style. So I came back to Greenville. Alone. Well, sort of alone....

What I've come to realize is that old habits die hard and sometimes you have to go back to where you began, before you can move ahead.

TWISTED picks up two years after Tangled’s end, and is told from Kate’s POV.

 Tangled Series:

Lindy's Thoughts:

I was such a huge fan of Tangled, and was so excited to get to continue this series with the sequel, Twisted.  In Tangled, I thought that Ms. Chase captured the male voice perfectly!  I fell hard for the main character, Drew!  I loved how Ms. Chase told the story from his point of view, and wondered if Twisted would be able to hold a candle to such an amazing first book in the series.

In Twisted, we get Kate's point of view.  At first, I was disappointed, because I loved hearing the story from Drew's point of view, and didn't think Kate's would be as entertaining as his was.  I was wrong!  Everything that I loved about Tangled, was in Twisted as well.  Ms. Chase can write in either gender's perspective.  I loved reading the universal truths of a woman's perspective, as told by Kate!  I found myself chuckling, because as a woman, I agreed, and related to those truths.  I felt closer to Kate as a character, by getting her narration, and understood the way she thought, and how much she loved Drew, more so in this sequel, since the story was told from her perspective.  In Twisted, Kate was dealt a huge surprise.  A large part of the story also dealt  with a huge miscommunication between Drew and Kate, which causes a lot of heartbreak along the way.  I was very upset with the way Drew acted towards Kate.  I wanted to give him a virtual slap, I was so angry.  I felt so bad for Kate, and got so involved in the story that I empathized with her.  There were a few plot twists along the way, that completely kept me immersed in the story.  The epilogue was written in Drew's perspective, and it was amazing!  I was thrilled with the way Ms. Chase ended this segment, and hope that this is not the last of Kate and Drew's story.

The secondary characters in this story were incredible!  I loved Kate's best friend, Delores, Dee Dee!  She was hilarious, and fiercely loyal.  Her character cracked me up, and I felt like I got to know her and Billy a lot more in this sequel.  He really is a good friend, and I hope he ends up getting his own story.  I also loved Kate's mom, Carol.  She was so nurturing and sweet, yet we get to see the "mama bear," side come out in her when her daughter is being hurt.  Drew's little niece, MacKenzie, was in the very beginning of the story, and she was a riot!  I laughed as she again, said things that got both her dad and Uncle Drew in hot water with her mom.  I love Ms. Chase's casual writing style.  It's like your best friend is telling you a true story or you're reading someone's journal.  The tone of the story was very intimate, honest, and real.  It's very different from anything I've ever read, and I wish more stories were written that way.

My Rating:

I give Twisted, by Emma Chase, 5 Raw, Witty, Heartfelt, Emotion-Filled Stars!  This was an amazing sequel to Tangled, and every bit as good!  This story had it all; amazing characters, a story that completely hooked me and wouldn't let go, humor, steamy scenes, romance, and a beautiful love story.  I laughed!  I cried!  I smiled, and I sighed!  Ms. Chase has mastered the art of storytelling.  She is brilliant, beyond talented, and weaves a spell that leaves her readers begging for more!  This series is a must read and it's a story that I could read over and over again and not ever get tired of it!  Ms. Chase has landed a place on my auto buy list!  Not only do I plan on reading every book in this series, but I also plan or reading every book that Ms. Chase ever writes.  I can't wait to follow her writing career, because I am certain that she is going to continue writing amazing stories that captivate a diverse set of readers!

My Favorite Quotes:

"Because good sex?  Really, really good sex?  Doesn't need alcohol.  And it's not about compatibility, or practice, or even being in love.  It's about trust.  Letting your guard down.  Putting yourself in another person's hands and letting him lead you to places you've never been before.  And I trusted Drew.  With my mind, my heart, my body.  I trusted Drew with everything."  (eARC, Loc. 155)

~Kate

"It still amazes me--the power she has.  This tiny woman can bring me to my knees with a look...a sigh.  But I wouldn't have it any other way.  I've been to the other side.  I've seen what freedom has to offer.  Misery.  Bring on the fu**ing chains; I'll take slavery any day."  (eARC, Loc. 2176)

~Drew

Mikki's Review:

Oh, yeah Baby!!!! Mr.Pringles is backkkkkk!!!! I have been waiting for Twisted since the moment I found out we would get more Kate and Drew. If you have not read Tangled and Holy Frigging Matrimony yet .... YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!!! Hilarious and Addictive. That's what Emma Chase's Tangled series is! You are probably wondering who Mr. Pringles is, eh? Well, it's Drew Evans. That's how I call him. Once you pop open Tangled and read anything else that involves him ... YOU CAN'T STOP! He is my go to person when I want a good laugh or when I need to get over a book hangover. Every time I click on my Tangled ebook I can hear him whisper to me ... ''Again?!?!?! You can't resist, can you? I don't blame you ... I'm that awesome!'' Yes. He is that AWESOME! Even my husband knows who Drew Evans is.

Twisted is the second installment of the Tangled series. Quick series recap: Holy Frigging Matrimony takes place one year after Tangled and Twisted takes place two years after Tangled. This second installment is written in Kate's POV. I have to admit that I had no clue what to expect. Kate is nothing like Drew. So, I knew that this book was going to make me feel things I probably did not feel while reading Tangled or Holy Frigging Matrimony. And, I was right! This book was more emotional. In Twisted we catch up with Kate and Drew who have been living together for two years. Everything is going good in their relationship until a misunderstanding tears them apart. My heart literally broke when their confrontation happened. I was sad, my heart was beating fast and I was freakin' pissed!!!!! Drew Evans never knows how to keep himself out of trouble! Oh my God!!!! I wanted to join forces with Dee Dee and Kate to pin his family jewels on the freakin' wall!!!! How dare you Drew!?!?!?!?! I was crossing my fingers that what I was reading was a mistake and that Kate was going to wake-up at any moment and this was all a bad dream. Well, it wasn't! After what happened to the couple, Kate needed some time away to think and she decides to go back to her hometown. Being away from Drew is turning out to be more difficult than she thought. Even if her heart is broken, she needs to start her new journey. A journey where she makes decisions based on what SHE wants. Drew and Kate will need to step-up and face the obstacles that are standing in the way of their HEA.

This book was so different from Tangled. Like I said before, I really did not know what to expect. I have read the first two books in the series often enough to know exactly who Drew Evans is. This book gave me the chance to get to know Kate much better. I love her!!! She's exactly the kind of woman that Drew needs. Her decisions made Drew realize a lot of things and she learned from what happened to them as a couple. I loved how she put her foot down even if Drew tried to make her change her mind. You Go Girl! I really loved this book, because Kate and Drew are an everyday couple. It was great to see them work on themselves as a couple and grow stronger. I'm happy to say that Drew did redeem himself by the end of the story. Eeeeeep!!! I was swooning all kinds towards the end. His family jewels are safe ... for now. LOL!!! Once again, all the characters that I fell in love with are in some way included in their story. I loveeeeee them!!! They are such amazing characters! Lovable, funny, loyal friends and they made this book extra special. I can't wait to continue my journey with these awesome characters and I'm anxiously waiting for Tamed, which is Dee and Matthew's story. OMG!!! This book is going to be HILARIOUS!!!! I already feel bad for everything Matthew will go through at the hands of Dee. She can be a pain in the A** ... Just ask Drew! LOL!!!!

Oh, I almost forgot .... This book has one of the BEST Epilogues that I have ever read!!! I missed you DREW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Rating:

I give, Twisted, by Emma Chase, 4.5 Entertaining, Steamy, Romantic, Unputtable-Down Stars! I highly recommend the Tangled Series. Trust me, add them to your TBR list and read them! Emma Chase delivers Every. Single. Time. ;)

Excerpt:

I close my eyes and let his words wash over me.  Drew has an amazing voice. Calm and soothing - but devilishly seductive at the same time.  He totally could’ve gone into radio.
I press another button.

And this time his tone is teasing.  “Kaate, you’re late. . Tell Delores to pick out her own god damn shoes. You’ve got a boyfriend who’s  sitting in a big, frothy Jacuzzi all by his lonesome. Come home, sweetheart. I’m here waiting for you.”

If only that was true today.

There’s more - some are quick and to the point, some are downright dirty.  And I listen to every single one.  He doesn’t say ‘I love you’ in any of them - but he doesn’t have to.  I hear it in every word. Every time he says my name.
