GR's Summary:

First was The Wild Ones. Now, the next book in M. Leighton's Wild Ones series...

How far will a good girl go for the bad boy she loves?

Laney Holt is a preacher’s daughter. A good girl. Her only goal was to get married, have babies, and live happily ever after, just like her parents. Only that didn’t happen. The two people closest to her betrayed her, and Laney’s dreams came crashing down. Now she’s left with an empty space she doesn’t know how to fill. Until she meets Jake Theopolis, a daredevil with a death wish who has heartbreaker written all over him.

Jake has no interest in thinking beyond the here and now. All he wants out of life is the next rush, the next “feel-good” thing to keep his mind off the pain of his past. His latest rush? Showing Laney there’s more to life than being a good girl—and that going bad can be so much fun. Her only concern now is how she can ever hope to satisfy the wild side of a boy like Jake. She’s looking forward to trying. And so is Jake.

The Wild Ones Series:

My Thoughts:

I have been reading The Wild Ones Series the last few days, and it is highly addictive.  It has all of the elements that I have come to expect from M. Leighton; passion, humor, fun, excitement, and great love scenes, all underlined with emotional depth.  I love the book covers in this series, and I know you're not suppose to judge a book by it's cover, but this series is an exception to the rule.  The stories are just as hot and exciting as the book covers!

Jake is Jenna's older brother, the main character in, Some Like It Wild.  While Jenna had happy memories of her childhood, and a very close relationship with their father, Jake had the complete opposite.  He was treated coldly and callously by his father who blamed him for a tragedy that happened, that wasn't his fault.  Jake was taught early on, from his father, that he would only hurt those that he loved, and unfortunately, Jake thought that he was unloveable.  He stayed away from serious relationships and kept to himself.

Laney, is the preacher's daughter.  She has been brought up with strict Christian values, in a very conservative household.  Laney is a "good girl," who follows all the rules, abides by her parent's expectations, and doesn't take chances.  All she's ever wanted is a good man, a home, and children.  When she catches her best friend,Tori, in bed with her fiancé, Shane, her life is completely turned upside down.

Laney's job brings her frequently and often into close proximity with Jake, the "bad boy," that she shared one very explosive kiss with four years prior.  The attraction between Jake and Laney is instantaneous and explosive.  Jake is determined to teach her that living on the wild side can be fun!  While both Jake and Laney expect to experience a fun and temporary fling, they learn a very valuable lesson; you can't control when and who you fall in love with!

Some Like it Wild, was a great read!  I was hooked right from the beginning of the story and it just kept getting better and better.  I absolutely adored the main characters!  Laney was very conservative, uptight, and let her parents control her life.  I enjoyed watching her character growth throughout the story.  Jake was the catalyst for her growth.  She became a much more easy going, fun, and confident character after he became a large part of her life.  I enjoyed watching her stand up to her parents, taking back control of her life, and not worrying about what others thought about her.  Jake was sexy, attentive, sweet, and a bit broken inside.  I fell hard for his character!  Laney taught him that he was lovable, and she was the first person to get through the walls he had built around his heart.

The story plot was full of excitement and a few major twists and turns.  I loved the intimacy that Jake and Laney shared and could feel their emotions growing towards one another.  It was fun watching Laney taking more chances, and having fun!  Plus, I enjoyed watching Jake become more domesticated.  Shane, Laney's ex-fiancee, along with Laney's parents, pulled some underhanded and manipulative moves that made me very angry, but I was very impressed with the way Laney handled everything.

My Rating:

I give, Some Like it Wild, by M. Leighton, 4 Sexy, Sweet, and Passionate, "Come Take a Wild Ride" filled Stars!  All of you romance lovers out there need to read this series!  The great news is that all of these stories can be read as stand alone stories and in any order!  Each and every one of the books in this series has been fantastic and once you read a book by M. Leighton, she will be sure to top your favorite author's list!  I'm looking forward to, There's Wild, Then There's You, which comes out June 3rd!

My Favorite Quotes:

"She needed me in order to see who she really was, to see how beautiful and perfect she was deep down, past all the onward appearances and polite ways.  What she never knew was that I saw it all along  She was always perfect to me, inside and out."  (eARC, Loc. 2171)

~Jake

"I've always heard Jenna and her friends go on and on about all the different things a kiss can mean.  Now I think I understand what they were talking about. In this kiss is declaration.  In it is acceptance.  In it is passion and perseverance, hope and happiness.  In it is everything I never thought I'd want.  It's everything because she's everything."  (eARC, Loc. 2339)

~Jake

  5. This series sounds wonderful. I love when two very different characters change together and meet somewhere in the middle, rather than just one changing to be like the other. It makes their relationship feel more balanced and all the more stronger in the long term.
