Swoon Thursday (56)

Hosted by YA Bound

The Rules of Swoon Thursday:

"From the book you are currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON.  What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.  Try to make the Swoon 140 characters so you can tweet it.  Add the #YABOUND hashtag when you tweet."

Goodreads Summary:

What if all the legends you’ve learned were wrong?

Brutally attacked by one god and unfairly cursed by another she faithfully served, Medusa has spent the last two thousand years living out her punishment on an enchanted isle in the Aegean Sea. A far cry from the monster legends depict, she’s spent her time educating herself, gardening, and desperately trying to frighten away adventure seekers who occasionally end up, much to her dismay, as statues when they manage to catch her off guard. As time marches on without her, Medusa wishes for nothing more than to be given a second chance at a life stolen away at far too young an age.

But then comes a day when Hermes, one of the few friends she still has and the only deity she trusts, petitions the rest of the gods and goddesses to reverse the curse. Thus begins a journey toward healing and redemption, of reclaiming a life after tragedy, and of just how powerful friendship and love can be—because sometimes, you have to sink in the deep end of the sea before you can rise back up again

My Swoon:

"But when we reach the entrance to the temple, I do the unthinkable: I reach out and touch him for the first time ever.  Just a few fingers against his shoulder, but suddenly I've just stepped off a cliff and am soaring through the air, into the unknown after drowning in the deep sea for so long.  'You are the best kind of friend, ' I tell him.  He doesn't say anything, just studies me with those chameleon eyes of his.  They're green right now, a beautiful light green that I lose myself in.  Before I know it, he leans down and kisses my cheek.  It isn't a quick one like before, when his lips pressed quickly against my temple.  No, this one lingers for several heartbeats, rendering me dizzy and elated all at the same time.  'Sweet dreams, Dusa,' he murmurs."
