Thank you Lindy!

Every day Violet Eden wonders whether she made the right choice.

She still doesn't fully understand these powers she's been granted as a half-angel Grigori. And worse, isn't even sure she's capable of using them. Stab someone through the heart? Really?

No matter how bad things get, though, Violet doesn't run and she doesn't quit. Even if it means she can never allow herself to love the guy she longs for. Even if it means asking her enemy for help. Even if no one is telling her the truth.

The war between Exiles and Angels is on—and she's wanted by both sides.

The way I See It

Okay So I'm a super fan of angels and I really like this series I see the potential. The writing is smooth and flawless. I enjoyed the flow of the story. There is SERIOUS foreshadowing it almost frustrates me that everything escapes Violet. Even though I disagree with a LOT of things, I can't help it I'm addicted! I also have this uncanny way of liking the guy thats not for the girl. Poor Phoenix, he was there for Violet when she needed someone. He was the only one who helped her(sure he lies to her but it was to protect her) at least he never abandoned her! Plus HELLO he is the son of the darkest!!! I'm gonna say that doing the right thing is hard for him. After reading this book we pretty much know the Violet & Lincoln cat & mouse game is going to go on quite a bit further(maybe forever). Lincoln is really quick to dismiss Violet and not be there for her. It breaks my heart for Violet.

E-scape, Violet's life was saved. Phoenix is back and he shows her just how connected they are.
Nahilius, everyone thinks they know his purpose but in the end Stephanie is the one that truly enlightens us.
T-ruth, Sal's gift is unique tailored to finding the threads that piece truths together. He is young and unsure so he will keep this thoughts to himself. For now.
I-ntuition, Violet is meant for more than she knows. She is unique unlike anyone else, her power holds the key to finding what everyone seeks.
C-harm, Phoenix has embraced his destiny much like Violet has hers. Even though he is on the opposite side he has to mask his emotions.
E-ven, Violet faces the fear that has been haunting her all book. She is faced with another cliff and as part of embracing her destiny she must jump again.

I really LOVE/HATE this book. Violet is ALWAYS complaining about everyone stripping her of making decisions and she is always pining away after Lincoln. She is the most bad a$$ of all the Grigori but she sure doesn't act like it. If I saw another self pep talk about not running I was gonna lose it! I guess after 2 books into this series I'm beyond ready for her to accept who she is! I want her to be sure of herself EVERYONE see's the power she can wield I want her to see it too. If Lincoln is gonna be a non-partner then f it! I'm waiting for her breakout moment. I will continue this series because the premise is great and I want to see what happens. The writing is awesome and world building is great. I'm looking forward to whats to come.

My Rating

3.5 Hades, Onyx, Stigmata, Nahilius, Blue Sapphire, Guns, Planes, Caves, Dagger, Scriptures, Sole, Text, Lover Filled Stars! I recommend this series to those that enjoy angels.

  2. I have the first book in the series, but haven't started it yet. Your annoyance at Violet made me laugh! I'm glad you did like the story overall. Great review, Ro!
