GR's Summary:

Blaire Hayes enjoys a quiet life, spending her days as a CNA at the local nursing home and nights studying for exams. She prefers things to be as uncomplicated as possible -- but when her friends drag her to a party and she bumps into her high school crush, the path of Blaire’s life veers in an entirely different direction than what she had planned for herself.

Jason Bryant created a nice life away from his hometown, putting distance between himself and the suffocating sadness of his father’s death. But when he finds out his grandfather’s health is deteriorating, he decides he must return home. Partying was not on his agenda while in town, but it’s how he bumps into Blaire Hayes—the girl he’d always thought of in high school as an unobtainable pass.

Together the two learn there are moments in life that hold within them all the power to break you...

My Take on this Journey:

Break You, by Jennifer Snyder was a novel about two
young college students learning about life's harsh lessons the hard way.  Blair Hayes is a college student at Norhurst University in Coldcreek, North Carolina, studying to get her RN.   She is a hard worker, going to school and also having a job  at the Cross Meadows Nursing Home as a CNA.  She doesn't have much time for guys, party's, and having fun.  About the most she does is taking her niece, Tinley, a cute little girl, out to the Coldcreek, that has everything a kid could want.  Blaire is a pretty girl, who hasn't taken many risks, knows what she wants, and has her plans mapped out for her life.

Jason Bryant is overwhelmed after the death of his father.  He is also a college student, and moves from Coldcreek to Dormere, Tennessee to give himself some space and time to heal.  He gets a call from his mother that his Grandfather is dying, and returns to his hometown one weekend at a time to help his out by mother fixing up his Grandfather's house.  While spending time with his mother, he finally starts to realize the strength in her and all she has had to endure with the death of his father, and her mother.  Now her father is dying from a broken heart, and she just wants more time.  She has taken on all the financial responsibility, along with an overwhelming amount of heartache.

Jason and Blaire were high school friends that were attracted to each other but never made a move towards each other.  Jason thought Blaire was out of his league, and too much work; not being like the typical girls that would eat out of his hand.  Blaire thought Jason was a player.  Now, when Jason comes to town, they meet again, after a few years, and start seeing each other.  Blaire fights her feelings towards Jason because she thinks he might still be a love them and leave them kind of guy, and she doesn't want her heart broken.  She finally caves in to his attempts at a date, and that first date is so hot, it sets them on a path that they will change them both forever.

This novel was very realistic, fast paced, funny at times, and sad at times.   The reader will find themselves completely involved with this town, the primary and secondary characters, and the overwhelming heartache that encompasses the reader along with it's characters.  Ms. Snyder gives the reader a glimpse into the, "Why" that comes to everyone at sometime in their lives, when they are face to face with death and the loss of someone close to them.  This novel carried with it the weight and burden of loss, sadness, regret, and timelessness.  I loved the believability of the characters.  There is a trouble making girl, named Marla, that spices up the book and causes problems left and right, along with a lot of misunderstandings.  Ms. Snyder brought this story to life for me.

I give Break You, by Jennifer Snyder, 4 1/2 Sad, Enduring Love, Live in The Present Stars!!!
