GR's Summary:

Two secrets. One bet. Who will break first?

Taylor Caldwell can't decide if she wants to kiss her new college roommate or punch him.

On the one hand, Hunter Zaccadelli is a handsome blue-eyed bundle of charm. On the other, he's a tattooed, guitar-playing bad boy. Maybe that's why Taylor's afraid of falling in love with him, or anyone else. She doesn't want to get burned, so she needs him gone before it's too late.

Hunter himself has been burned before, but Taylor's sexy laugh and refusal to let him get away with anything make her irresistible. Determined not to be kicked out of her life without a fight, Hunter proposes a bet: if she can convince him she either truly loves or hates him, he'll leave the apartment;and leave her alone.

But when the man behind Taylor's fear of giving up her heart resurfaces, she has to decide: trust Hunter with her greatest secret, or do everything in her power to win that bet and drive him away forever.

My Favorite Mistake Series:

Lindy's Thoughts:

I've been wanting to read, My Favorite Mistake, ever since I saw the original book cover, read the blurb, and many reviews about it from people that enjoyed it.  I love the new book cover even more than the original.  I think it's sexy, and am a fan of black and white book covers with a splash of color.  Taylor is beginning her sophomore year of college, living with her good friends Renee and Darah.  They lost their fourth roommate, and have already agreed that the new roommate will share a room with Taylor, because Renee and Darah already shared a room with each other the previous year.  The girls are shocked when they learn that Hunter, a male student, is going to be their new roommate.

Taylor has a crazy reaction to meeting Hunter.  She automatically decides that she doesn't him, and is determined to get a new room mate.  At times, Taylor came across as a bit overly dramatic, and having some anger issues.  Hunter is a bit of a contradiction, because on one hand he loves to push her buttons.  However, he can also be very charming, flirty, and thoughtful.  It is obvious that Taylor and Hunter had a mutual attraction, even though Taylor does everything she can to fight it.  Hunter is use to girls falling all over him, and Taylor is a complete enigma to him, which makes him highly interested in finding out more about her.   Hunter wants a truce between himself and Taylor, so he proposes a bet.  If Taylor can prove that she either, "loves" or "hates" him, he will leave at the end of the school semester.

Hunter was a great character.  In fact, he was my favorite aspect of the story!  He was funny, flirty, witty, and charming.  Even though he had previously been a womanizer, once he fell for Taylor, (which was immediately,) he was only interested in getting her into a relationship with him.  I enjoyed the back and forth banter between Taylor and Hunter.  It was like they had their own special way of communicating,  and were very in sync with each other's thoughts and actions.  This story was fast-paced.  I loved the suspense and mystery behind both Taylor and Hunter.  They both had dark secrets, that they didn't want to share. Taylor's secret was pretty easy to figure out.  Hunter's secret was a complete surprise to me.

The secondary characters were a lot of fun, and took on a life of their own.  Many of my favorite parts of the story included all of the friends hanging out, cooking a meal and eating together, going dancing, and just having a good time together.   Hunter and Taylor had a very unique relationship, but it worked for them.  The made each other smile, laugh, and have fun.  Most importantly, they found a support system in each other.  They each became very protective, loyal, caring, and compassionate to each other.  The sexual chemistry, intense attraction, and anticipation between Taylor and Hunter was very H-O-T!  I wanted Taylor to stop being so stubborn, and admit how she felt about Hunter.

There were a few cliches in this story.  We are dealing with another innocent girl, and experienced guy.  The storyline wasn't very unique to a lot of New Adult books that I have read, and at times Taylor's character bothered me with how she acted towards Hunter.  However, it was still an enjoyable and quick read.  If you are looking for an easy, fun, and quick story, My Favorite Mistake is a good choice.

My Rating:

I give, My Favorite Mistake, by Chelsea M. Cameron, 3.5 Fast-Paced, Fun, and enjoyable stars.  Hunter stole the show in this story.  You will love this charming, flirty, and unpredictable man.  I loved how he was kind, caring, and devoted to Taylor.  He cooked for her, wrote songs for her, surprised her numerous times, and broke through her hard exterior.  He proved that no matter what, he was going to be there for Taylor.  Hunter was indeed swoon-worthy.  I loved that Taylor made huge character growth, and went through such a positive transformation.  Taylor and Hunter both were pretty broken people, but they helped each other find happiness, love, and hope for a bright future!

My Favorite Quotes:

" 'You said you didn't like me.'  'I don't like you.  I don't like how your hair smells and how I can't stop thinking about waking up and seeing your face.  I hate how my bed felt empty when you left.  I don't like how good you were with my family, especially Harper, and how I wanted to see you with them again, but not just as a guest.  As a member.  You're right.  I don't like you at all.' " (eARC, Loc. 1848)

" 'Taylor, look at me.  Please.'  Damn.  If only he didn't say please.  'I can't promise not to make you mad.  I can't promise that I won't hurt you.  All I can promise is that I want you in my life, and I'll do anything to keep you there.' "  (eARC, Loc. 2007)

"He took a breath.  'I want you.  Right now.  If you said yes, I would kiss you.  I would kiss you until we both forgot that lips were made for anything other than kissing.  I'd take you out of that outfit, as cute as it is.  I want to see what you look like with nothing on.  I want to make you sigh like you did with the cake.  I want to be with you.  Right now.' "  (eARC, Loc. 2679)

The Way Ria Sees it

Guess What?!!

I ALSO have A FAVORITE MISTAKE! Gah!! When I saw this book I was like NO WAY! I say that all the flipping time... and yep, ladies and gents, he has a NAME... My Favorite mistake comes in the form of one Chris Johnson. He is a Running Back for the Tennessee Titans. Long Story. I am not gonna go into particulars but I knew I had to read this book.

So glad I did and its a series! Eeeeep! Cant wait to read more.

My Fav mistake was fun, flirty and free. FFF. Its NA College and two broken people finding love. I fell in love with the main characters right away! From the first page to the last Hunter and Taylor kept me smiling.

M-issy, cold and closed off Taylor pushes away anyone who tries to get close.
Y-ielding, unable to change her schools housing assignments, Taylor must bide her time.

F-riends, as much as Taylor wants to fight Hunter he is breaking her resolve.
A-ss, a mask that Hunter uses to protect himself from his heart.
V-ulnerable, two kindred spirits fight tooth and nail against the inevitable.
O-rchards, Hunter takes Taylor a bit further into his heart and she meets his family.
R-ealization, the tension becomes too much and what once was a strong facade shatters to pieces.
I-gniting, passion, tenderness, kindness, and love Taylor permits Hunter a little further into her heart.
T-reasure, Hunter knows he has to tread lightly so he will do what he can to win Taylor over.
E-xplosion, curiosity overtakes Taylor and Hunter hurts her in a way he will never forgive himself for.

M-easured, without her, Hunter can’t breath. He will win her over the best way he knows how. Opening his heart. Knowing it’s time he strips his soul raw and shows her his demons.
I-ncarcerated a nightmare becomes Taylor’s reality. The time approaches that she will have to face a monster.
S-ister, Tawny and Taylor are both victims but one feels responsible for the other. Their love for each other has mended but the wound was too deep to fully heal.
T-ough, for so long Taylor has trained and prepared for this now that the moment arrives it feels as though the walls are closing in .
A-lone, having never let anyone in Taylor is surprised to see how large her support system truly is. At the very top Hunter the one she fought the hardest.
K-nife, words practiced and rehearsed cannot erase the pain and the agony. It’s up to Taylor how deeply her soul was cut due to that monster.
E-mbrace, their love and their friends. Taylor is tired of running. Hunter caught her and will show her how great it can be.

Yes, Yes

broken boy + broken girl= a fixing loving great FUN romance.

Sans the RAUNCH;0) as in “raunchy” no crazy sexy steamy scenes but lots of fun flirting tension and a dash of drama. This isn’t some soul-bending, mind-altering read but what it is, is a light and entertaining read with characters you would want to fight for!

My Fav’s *not mistakes ;)

Taylor/Missy
Yea yea, she was a B but she OWNED it I love that about her one of my besties is like that...Lol, once your in though her love is fierce! Taylor is the same way! I love the family dynamic she had with her sister and mom. EVERYthing about Taylor felt real and solid.

Hunter
He fights it too but I knew behind all of the “assery” there was an amazing guy looking for the right girl to give his heart to. The times he was kind funny and caring I was like WOO HOO! “Pay attention Taylor! This could be YOU!!” He stops fighting it and piece by piece he give his heart to the right girl.

My Wish

I want Blaire(Taylor’s Mom) to find happiness. After everything she has had to go through...Her girls suffering, her divorce. I guess she seemed happy enough in the book she felt a bit lonely and if you know me you I want everyone to be happy happy happy.

My Rating

4.0 Footlocker, Missy, Guitar, Quarter, Broken Desk, Chandelier, Southern Drawl, Ariel and Eric, Rum and Coke, Purse boy, Tipped Recliner, Peacock Apology, Castle tour, Court House, Guitar Photo, Solid embrace, More than the stars, Falling and having some one to catch you filled stars. For a light fast paced read pick up this book.
