GR's Summary:

“Live, no regrets”

Her…
Sloane Locke has led a sheltered life. However, with a history like hers, she can understand why her brothers and her father want so much to protect her. She has gone along with it for twenty long years, but those days are over. For the girl who never makes promises, Sloane has made a pact with herself that things will change on her twenty-first birthday. So when the clock strikes midnight, Sloane strikes out to spread her wings and break a few rules.

Him…
In addition to inking skin, Hemi Spencer possesses many talents. Controlling himself has never been one of them. It’s never had to be. He’s lived a life of indulgence for as long as he can remember. Right up until tragedy struck. Now, he’s nothing but controlled. He’s a man on a mission, one who will let nothing and no one stand in his way.

Them…
Nothing in their lives could’ve prepared Sloane and Hemi for what they’d find in each other—distraction and obsession, love and possession. But the one thing they can’t find is a future. Neither one has been totally honest. And they’ll soon learn that the devil is in the details. In the details and in the lies.
How far will two people go to live in the now when the now is all they’ve got?

My Thoughts:

All The Pretty Lies by M. Leighton was an addictive, and all consuming love story.  I was immediately pulled it to the story from the very beginning, and didn't put this story down for anything.  I ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner with my Kindle in hand!  That's how amazing it was!  All The Pretty Lies is told from the two main characters Sloane, and Hemi's dual points of view.  On Sloane's 21st birthday, she decides to get a tattoo.  It is a meaningful moment in her life, because it represents her freedom, breaking away from being under the restrictive thumbs of the overprotective men in her life, and the need to live life to it's fullest, without regrets.

When she walks in to the tattoo parlor, she becomes speechless and can't help but stare at the gorgeous tattoo artist in front of her, Hemi.  He is deeply attracted to Sloane also, even though he usually goes for older, more experienced women, but quickly decides that she's too innocent for him.  Sloan has to return to the parlor to get her tattoo done in stages.  The more time that Hemi and Sloane spend with one another, the more their attraction intensifies, and the more they realize that they have a lot in common.  Eventually, Sloane gets Hemi to agree to teach her how to tattoo.  They both have such a deep passion for Art, and Sloane is a quick learner.  The more time that Sloane and Hemi spend together, the more they desire, and can't keep their hands off one another.  The deep and intense chemistry between these two characters was palpable!  Hemi made me Swoon, time and time again.  With the pacing of their relationship, the anticipation and intensity between these two grew, until the slow burn turned in to explosive fire works.

Throughout the story, we quickly realize that Sloane and Hemi are both hiding secrets from one another.  As the reader, we are not privy to these secrets, until they are revealed little by little throughout the story.  Early on, I was able to guess these secrets, and feared how Sloane would react to Hemi's secret, and how Sloane's secret would effect Hemi.  I loved All The Pretty Lies, because the relationship between Sloane and Hemi wasn't forced.  It happened naturally, at a slow pace, and had me eager for the two of them to get together. I also enjoyed the fact that even though Sloane was innocent, and falling hard for Hemi fairly quickly, she wasn't clingy with him.  She was very independent, strong, and went after what she wanted.  Sloane was very mature for her age, and even though her father and brothers were overprotective of her, she was determined to lead her own life, and have an adventure.

All The Pretty Lies by M. Leighton was such an emotional and beautiful story.  Hemi grew a lot as a character, as he learned how to deal with his inner demons in a more constructive manner.  He went from being emotionally distant, to letting his walls crumble little by little.  Hemi learned what real love was, when he put Sloane's needs before his own.  There was mystery, and a lot of suspense and intrigue in this story.  There was very explicit, steamy, and detailed love scenes, as well as an emotional depth that I enjoyed.  For me, it was the perfect balance of everything I could ever want in an exceptional story!  All The Pretty Lies has been added to my very selective favorite's shelf.  Read this story, and you will be an instant fan of M. Leighton.

My Rating:

All the Pretty Lies was an amazing story.  It had such a hot and passionate romance, and I really felt the connection and chemistry between Sloan and Hemi.  M. Leighton knows how to build anticipation, intensity, and desire between her characters.  This story was filled with mystery, and suspense from beginning to end.  We are given clues throughout the story about the secrets that Sloane and Hemi aren't sharing with one another, and the suspense kept building, as I was waiting for everything to come out.  Fans of The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay, and The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski, should check out All the Pretty Lies.  It is an excellent New Adult Contemporary story, and I highly recommend it!  I give All the Pretty Lies by M. Leighton 5 Passionate, Sexy, and Intense Stars!

My Favorite Quotes:

"I want you, Sloane.  I want to do things to you, do things with you.  I want to show you what it feels like to have someone worship your body.  I want you to experience the pleasure a man should bring you, so you never settle for less.  Just know that, while we're together, you're mine.  All mine.  No one else's.  Do you understand?"  (eARC, Loc. 2406)

~Hemi

"I want her.  I want to take what she's given to no one else.  I want to be the first to show her everything.  And to be the one she can't forget.  She's like the blank slate I so crave for my art.  I want to be etched onto her.  Permanently.  Something about that thought appeals to the primal man in me, to the animal and the conquerer."  (eARC, Loc. 3462)

~Hemi

"And, just like he intended, with our bodies joined and him staring into my eyes, I feel exactly what's been in his heart all this time.  It's the same thing that's been in mine.  Eternity.  Eternity together.  Eternity in love."  (eARC, Loc. 4993)

~Sloane
