GR's Summary:

Alexis Sky Martine thinks of herself as the average girl-next-door that does what she has to do to get by, have fun and enjoy life.
She is madly in love with her sexy, drop-your-panties-at-first-sight, hottie boyfriend who is equally in love with her; more like downright obsessed. He treats her like she is his heart; like he needs her to exist; like he would do anything in his power to make her happy.
Lexi knows Landyn James loves her just as much as she loves him, if not more. Deep down, she also knows high school sweethearts aren’t expected to last, but their relationship is different. They are soul mates. Their connection is unbreakable.

What could possibly go wrong when you have love like that...?
Everything.
What will the future hold...?
Only time will tell.

Author's Note: Contains Adult Content – Namely, a teenager-turned-woman with a very dirty mouth and fiery temper that may or may not know how to throw a punch. Also includes hot and steamy scenes, and a small glimpse into physical/verbal abuse.

This Can't Be Happening Series:

My Take on this Journey:

Lexi, Baby by Lynda Leanne, is a great book filled with a roller coaster ride of emotions, played out in a span of 10 years.  The main character, Lexi Sky Martine is brought up in a small town by her hippie parents.  They are very open minded and free spirited.  Lexi is a pretty girl, who doesn't really realize her worth or her beauty.  She sort of walks through life with her gorgeously beautiful boyfriend, eye candy on a stick, Landyn (Lan) James.  There isn't a woman in town that wouldn't want to be with this man.  He is sculpted, loving, kind, and worships the ground she walks on.  These two are meant for each other, and have a bond that cannot be broken.  On the night of their high school graduation, all hell breaks loose.  Lan has secrets that he has never told his beloved.  He feels that she is too special to spoil her mind with the atrocities he has lived through in his dysfunctional family life.  They go to a party and he gets lost almost immediately, gets drunk, and ends up in the bathroom with the town tramp.  Lexi and her best friend, Trish, end up outside that bathroom and are witness to what is happening inside by complete coincidence.  The confrontation that takes place leaves Lan screaming for Lexi, and her walking out on the only man she has ever loved.  Trish is a wonderful friend to her, and helps her through all her trials and tribulations.  Lexi doesn't realize how much she doesn't even know about her best friend till faced with it head on.

Fast forward 6 years later.  Lexi is graduating from college, has a 5 year old daughter, with black hair and beautiful blue eyes, named Layla James, and a boyfriend named Ryan.  Life is uncomplicated at the moment.  She cares about Ryan, but thinks about Lan every day of her life, when she looks into the eyes of her beautiful daughter that is the exact replica of her father.  By some bizarre twist of fate, Lexi runs into the b**** from hell, Destiny, the girl Lan cheated on her with.  She see's her daughter, and two weeks later, Lan comes to town to confront Lex and meet his daughter.

This book was phenomenal.  The cast of characters were wonderful, and all played out like a motion picture in my mind.  We see the ultimate transformation, the insecurities that are still prevalent, and the love that has never ceased.  Lexi is conflicted, but those feelings are quickly put to rest as soon as she see's another side to Ryan that she never realized existed.  There are some tough subjects the reader is confronted with, including physical abuse, that Lexi is faced with head on.  She also realizes with the help of Trish, that Ryan never had a real connection with her daughter, her precious princess.  This story will leave the reader reeling.  Ms. LeeAnne does an outstanding job working every angle of the story and weaving in characters, including an estranged half brother of Lans, named Adam.  Adam is a detective, gorgeous like his brother, and very attracted to Lexi.  The banter that goes on between the two brothers is hilarious.  It will have you giggling at the way Adam can push Lan's buttons.  When it comes to Lexi, Lan is obsessive and territorial.

I give Lexi, Baby, by Lynda LeeAnne, 5 Sad, Scary, Second Chance, Perpetually Bright Stars!

  10. Ro- Would you have preferred for this book to move at a faster pace? A book that spans ten years would be hard for me to be involved in, I think.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
