Goodreads Summary:

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

My Thoughts:

Wow, Onyx was absolutely thrilling!  Jennifer L. Armentrout is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.  Her writing is magical and transfers me into another place and time where the characters become my friends and family.

What I love most about Armentrout's books are her characters.  In Onyx, I was entranced by the main character's, Katy and Daemon's relationship.  I loved the witty sarcasm that came forth continuously from Daemon.  I also loved the playful banter and verbal foreplay that continued throughout the story.  These two had a steamy relationship that was intense.  The fireworks between Katy and Daemon felt authentic and made for a very entertaining story.  There was never a dull moment.  The heat these two had for one another jumped off the page and I was very happy to witness it.

Another aspect that I loved was the story plot.  There was not one dull moment in this story.  Katy, and Daemon, along with the secondary character's Dee (Daemon's sister), Ashley, Adam, and Andrew had a lot of conflict to overcome!  The moment one problem got solved, another one arose.  Onyx, ended with a dramatic cliffhanger, that left me with the immediate need to find out what happens next!  I have no self control!!!

Overall, this series has been amazing!  I must admit though, that I have enjoyed Onyx a bit more than Obsidian, the first book in the series.  Now, I'm off to read Opal, the third book!  This series is so addicting that the moment I finish one of the books, I have to begin reading the next!  If you haven't guessed already, I loved Onyx, and give it 5 Tropical Flowers.

                                         Escape in a book,

  4. I agree, there was not one dull moment in this book, and that's what I call a good book! :) JLA is a great writer.

It's a good thing that the next book in the installation is already out, so you won't have to wait long to see what happens next! :)

  7. I haven't read this one yet, but I loved the first book. I didn't love it at first I thought Daemon was too "bipolar" with his feelings, but after reading Shadows, I read him in totally different light.
