Goodreads Summary:

Virginity.

Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible-- a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

Lindy's Thoughts:

Losing It, by Cora Carmack was a beautiful love story that melted my heart and made me fall madly in love with Garrick, the male protagonist in the story.  Bliss Edwards is in the last semester, in the last year of college, and is ashamed because she is still a virgin.  She confides this information, ashamedly, to her best friend Kelsey.  Right after Kelsey finds out about Biss' virginity, she makes it her mission to get Bliss devirginized.  Kelsey takes Bliss to a bar close to their college campus and gets bliss drunk on Tequila Shots with Bliss adding Jack and Cokes to her drink of choice.  While at the bar, Bliss meets Garrick, a gorgeous man with blond hair, amazing blue eyes, and a sexy British accent.  Bliss and Garrick have major chemistry, and the fireworks explode off of the page as they get to know one another.  Bliss decides Garrick is going to be the man that she loses her virginity to.  However, after she brings Garrick to her place and is in the middle of the act, she freaks out and leaves him naked in her bed with the lame excuse that she has to pick up her cat fom the vet.  The next day when she arrives at her theater class, she discovers that Garrick, the hot guy she left naked in her bed the night before, is her professor.

I loved this story!  Garrick is beyond sexy and carries himself with confidence.  He has blond hair, crystal blue eyes, a strong jaw, a sexy British accent, intelligence, and emanates sex-appeal.  Ladies, he has the full package!  Ms. Carmack described him so well that he seemed like a real person.  Bliss Edwards is awkward when dealing with Garrick.  So awkward in fact that she had me laughing at some of the things that she said as well as did.  One of my favorite aspects of the story was the dialogue between the two main characters.  It was highly entertaining, realistic, fun, and made me read straight through the book in one sitting.  I love how Bliss was true to herself and not only did what she wanted, but also spoke her mind as well.  I really liked Bliss and could see her being a friend in real life.  I loved how this book had several swoon worthy scenes, and the sexual tension between Garrick and Bliss was deliciously intense.  The author did a good job of developing the romance, chemistry, and relationship between the two main characters.  There wasn't any insta-love in this book, nor were there any love triangles. There also weren't any major plot twists.  Yes, there were a few surprises and conflicts that Garrick and Bliss had to overcome, but nothing major.  Yet, this story was anything but boring.

I would highly recommend, Losing It, to reader's that enjoy a sexually intense romantic story with humor.  Also, if you enjoy the New Adult genre, this is an excellent choice.

Lindy's Favorite Quotes:

"So then how did I end up twenty-two years old, and the only person I knew who had never had sex?  Somewhere between Saved by the Bell and Gossip Girl, it became unheard of for a girl to graduate college with her V-Card still in hand." (Nook, 1)

"In that case, I'll endeavor to be as clear as possible.  He picked up his chair and placed it mere inches from mine.  He slinked down beside me and said, I'd rather you didn't go back to your friend.  Stay here with me." (Nook, 8)

"Sex rolled off the man in waves, and I was surprised to find how interested I was in learning how to swim." (Nook, 9)

"You don't want to finish our drinks?  He took my hand and pressed his lips against the inside of my wrist.  I'm already intoxicated." (Nook, 10)

"Instead, my eyes locked on the porcelain cat cookie jar I'd inherited from my great grandmother, and my brain created a ridiculous excuse out of the first thing that came to mind.  Stop!  Cats!  Stop..." (Nook, 25)

Lindy's Rating:

I give Losing It 4 1/2 Sexually Intense Stars!

Ria’s Take:

Thanks to the wonderful site, goodreads.com I have found so many gems that I cannot begin to list them. Let me take this opportunity to say this is one of those gems. I can't exactly pin point the "Moment" that I fell in Love with Losing It, but it was early on! Maybe the Porcelain Cat scene or Shakespeare or Kelsey or the motorcycle... No! Wait, I've got it! The Sexy Brit with confidence and charisma... Yep thats it! Cora Carmack's writing is witty and funny and it kept me latching on to the next word. Before I knew what was going on I was hooked I wanted to "See"  what was going to happen next. When you read a good book you feel like your watching the story, when you read a GREAT book you feel like your "Part" of the story, that's exactly what Losing It did for me. I enjoyed every aspect of this book from beginning to end. I loved the characters because even though I'll never meet Kelsey, I have a Kelsey in my life. There isn't anything "dark" but there is "forbidden" and well, if you're human you may know a bit about human nature. *ahem, ahem.* The forbidden fruit is the one we most desire. On that note, I will say it's no surprise every one that reads this book loves it. We share the same opinion because its a consensus this is a great book! Go get it!!

My Fav’s

Garrick:

He seems real and still super swoon worthy. British Accent, he loves Shakespeare, and if that weren’t enough he loves Bliss.

Bliss:
I love everything that comes out of her mouth, even during times of conflict.  She’s witty and has spunk. I can see HEA oozing out of her, she’s hard working and determined. :)

My Rating:
4.5 Inherited porcelain cat cookie jar stars! If you want to smile and enjoy every second of a book, go get this one!

I'm Cora Carmack,  a twenty-something writer who likes to write about twenty-something characters. I've done a multitude of things in my life-- boring jobs (like working at Target), Fun jobs (like working in a theatre), stressful jobs (like teaching), and dream jobs (like writing). Awkward people need love, too.  My first book, LOSING IT is available as an ebook on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
