Synopsis:

When Grey and Ben fell in love at thirteen, they believed they’d be together forever. They never dreamed that three days before their wedding, twenty-year-old Ben would suddenly die from an unknown heart condition, destroying his would-be-bride’s world. Grey would have spent the next two years simply going through the motions if it hadn’t been for their best friend, Jagger. He’s the only one who understands her pain ... the only one who knows what it’s like to force yourself to keep moving when your dreams are shattered.

While everyone else worries over Grey’s fragility, Jagger is the only one who sees her strength, and vows to always be there for her-even if it’s only as her best friend. As much as he wants Grey, he knows her heart will always be with Ben. But when Grey finds out that Jagger has loved her since before he even knew what love was, it might prove to be too much for her to handle.

Grey soon realizes their chemistry is undeniable, and they learn that admitting their feelings for each other means they’ve got to face the past. Is being together what Ben would have wanted . . . or a betrayal of his memory that will eventually destroy them both?

My Thoughts:
Letting Go was an emotional roller coaster. There were highs and lows, and curves that you never see coming. Ben, Grey, and Jagger were best friends since they were children. Jagger always loved Grey, but Ben beat him to asking her out. Ever since then, Ben and Grey were inseparable, and Jagger never stopped loving Grey. When Ben and Grey got engaged, Jagger was devastated, but was still there for his two best friends. A few days before Gray and Ben are set to wed, Ben dies unexpectedly of a heart attack.

This horrible, surprising and heartbreaking loss nearly wrecks Grey.  Luckily, for the next two years, Jagger is by Grey's side, supporting her, being her strength, and the selfless best friend that he has always been. Grey and Jagger grow closer than ever, and are the only two that understand what the loss of Ben has meant in the both of their lives. Two years later, Grey is completely floored when she finds out accidentally that Jagger has always been in love with her. She doesn't know what to do with this information. She can't betray Ben's memory, and yet she can't lose Jagger either. One thing is for certain, things between Grey and Jagger can never go back to the way they were before she found out about his feelings for her.

Letting Go is about finding the strength to keep on moving after you've had such a tragic loss in your life, that the only thing you want to do is curl up in a ball and stop living. It's about courage, bravery, perseverance, resiliency, and healing. As you can imagine, Letting Go was a very emotional read. I felt Grey's pain, sadness, confusion, and guilt. I applauded her for being able to pick herself up in order to keep moving. Jagger was a wonderful character. He has such strength, love, compassion, and selflessness in everything he did. He was very patient with Grey, and his top priority was always her happiness, above his own. I'm glad that Ms. McAdams made us see Ben in a human light.

My Rating
Letting Go was a realistic portrayal of grief, and the human spirit's ability to heal. It was about courage, strength, love, loyalty, passion, and new beginnings. I give Letting Go, by Molly McAdams 4 Emotional, Keep Moving, Boundless Love Filled Stars! What a great addition to Ms. McAdams great collection of new adult romances!!!

My Favorite Quote
"Letting go doesn't mean forgetting. It's accepting, forgiving, and being emotionally ready to keep moving." (eARC, Loc. 4909)

About the Author:

Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband and furry four-legged daughters. When she's not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and fried pickles, and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm ... or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.

  1. I'm reading this now. I'm already so overwhelmed at the emotions. And I already adore Jagger. Great review.
