GR's Summary:

Amber Scott should be enjoying life as a college freshman. She should be pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She should be working hard to make sense of her precalculus math class.

She shouldn’t be waking up her college roommate with screaming nightmares. She shouldn’t be flashing back, reliving the three weeks of hell she barely survived last year. And she definitely shouldn’t be spending time with sexy player Marcus Reid.

But engineering student Marcus is the only one keeping Amber from failing her math course, so she grudgingly lets him into her life. She never expects the king of hookups will share his painful past. Or that she’ll tell him her secrets in return, opening up and trusting him in a way she thought she’d never be able to again.

When their fragile future together is threatened by a stalker Amber thought was locked away for good, Marcus is determined to protect her. And Amber is determined to protect Marcus…even if that means pushing him away.

 My Thoughts:

Tell Me When by Stina Lindenblatt, was a very interesting and suspense filled story.  It's one of those stories that drops hints here and there as you read along, and try to put all of the puzzle pieces together until you get the full story.  The story was told from the dual perspectives of the main characters, Amber and Marcus.

Amber is a very traumatized character, and we learn that something horrific happened to her in the past, but are not told specifically, until we are further in to the story.  What we do learn about Amber is that she has nightmares every night, keeps her body completely covered from head to toe, does not like any attention brought to her, and goes out of her way to avoid the opposite sex.  She only has one new friend, also a college freshman named, Jordan.  She use to be best friends with a girl named Emma, who also attends the same college.  Yet, Amber avoids her, and we aren't told why, until later in the story.

Marcus also has his secrets.  He had an older brother that he was very close to who recently died, and blames himself for his brother's death.  He has a horrible mother who doesn't care about him, and an abusive, alcoholic stepfather named Frank.  Marcus sleeps around, but let's girls know ahead of time that he does not do relationships.  His best friend, Chase, is his room mate, and the only person that he is close to.  Marcus is very closed off from most people.  However, he has a special relationship with a young teenager, Alejandro.  Marcus spends time with Alejandro at the youth center, and is trying to keep him from joining a gang, so that he can survive living in Marcus' old neighborhood.

When Marcus meets Amber, she is the first woman who doesn't throw herself all over him.  If anything, she accuses him of being a stalker, when they keep running in to each other.  Amber fascinates Marcus, because it's obvious that someone has hurt her in the past, and she brings out his protective instincts.  He ends up tutoring her in Math, and finds a way to push himself in to her life.  She realizes that he's a good guy, and he makes her feel "normal," and safe.  Marcus realizes that she's different from any other girl that he's ever met, and she gets under his skin.  As Amber and Marcus spend time together, feelings intensify, secrets come out, and danger once again lurks behind every corner.

This story was one huge roller coaster ride!  I was intrigued from the very first page, and was hypothesizing about what had happened to Amber her Senior year in high school, by putting the clues together from her nightmares, flashbacks, and present actions.  The romance between her and Marcus was really sweet and tender.  I loved how Marcus' feelings for her were evident by the way he was so caring, compassionate, protective, and sensitive toward Amber.  The story was fast-paced, suspenseful, and full of intrigue.  I cared about the characters, and were rooting for them both to get some peace and happiness in their lives.  If you're looking for an exciting read, filled with secrets, mystery, danger, and realism, this story is a perfect match!  I give, Tell Me When, by Stina Lindenblatt, 4 Intense, Powerful, Healing, and "Falling in Love" filled Stars!

My Favorite Quotes:

"You're beautiful," I breathe.  Everything about her is beautiful.  Her face.  Her passion.  Her inner strength.  I tremble at the thought of how I could lose all of this, once she learns my secrets."  (eARC, Loc. 2479)

~Marcus

"My fingers skim over it as I marvel at his perfection.  I was wrong.  There is a such thing.  This sweet and loving man, with all his scars both inside and out, is as perfect as you can get.  And he's mine."  (eARC, Loc. 3138)

~Amber

"I want to help other victims realize that to win, you have to stop blaming yourself for something that wasn't your fault, that only then can you be a true survivor.  Otherwise you let the criminal win."  (eARC, Loc. 3845)

~Amber
