GR's Summary:

Lion Breed, Rule Breaker had just a few rules he didn't break. Not for anything. Not for anyone.

#1. Never have sex with a woman outside his own subspecies, especially a human woman.

#2. Never, at any time, accept a mission concerning a female when Jonas Wyatt stinks of a lie.

#3. Run don't walk, skip or stumble. Run, hell for leather away from any female, human or breed, when his desire for her appears, in any way, to have so much as a single sign of Mating Heat.

Now, the woman believes he's mated, is too helpless, to fun loving and too full of life to ever be able to protect herself, let alone aide him in protecting her.

If the damned animal inside him insisted on a mate, then why pick the woman it did? One that could be struck out at, at any time?

But, what he suspected was a mating, may not be. No swollen glands? No heat? Just his animal instincts rioting, pacing, irritated whenever he's away from her.

Okay, he could handle that.

What ensues is a fiery affair that breaks all the rules of mating heat and will eventually endanger his mate with the very rules designed to protect the breeds when Jonas learns she's possibly been working against them.

 My Take on This Journey:

Rule Breaker, by Lora Leigh, is #29 in the breed series. Rule Breaker looked like a very intriguing read, and I was very excited when I got this book for review.  However, I was unaware that it was the 29th installment in the series.  Therefore, I was a bit confused about the characters and the plot line.   I would not recommend reading these books out of order.  However, I am going to try my best to give a thorough review, and do Ms. Leigh's book justice. What I did understand while reading this segment of the Breed Series is that Rule Breaker is from the Lion Breed and he falls for someone of the human breed.  This causes his current situation, and his breed, a lot of upheaval, because he has broken the rules they have lived by since the beginning of time.

His animal instincts are not functioning properly, as his libido is taking over all other reactions to the opposite sex, and the wanton desires are uncontrollable when it comes to Gypsy.  He finds himself in danger as she becomes a target and he feels compelled to keep her safe, as he has drawn her into a life and death situation.  Damned if he knows why he feels the way he does, but she makes him crazy with lust.  The erotic saga of these two complete opposites attract.  The question is, are they really that different underneath it all?  He is obsessed with this woman, and can't get her out of his sights for long, or his mind.

Together, these two break all the rules of mating and have a highly sexual relationship that can bring down the entire breeding system.  Is Gypsy really who he thinks she is, or is she really an imposter working against him and his breed?  Gypsy McQuade is a complicated character that feels she is responsible for the death of her brother, Mark.  She has been working to get to the bottom of it, but is accused of working with unknown breeds, that could get her and others killed.  There is a sense of espionage in this saga.  There is manipulation of the breeds, and the council has been searching for answers in the murder of Mark.  This is a very complex storyline, with an abundance of characters, and undercover, covert activities happening in front of your eyes, and you don't see a thing as it is happening.  It is very bizarre.  These people all have businesses that they run for the sake of looking typical, while something else is underneath this whole unique world.

Gypsy has been mating with Rule, but doesn't feel that she is in her right mind where Rule, heat, and mating are concerned.  The loneliness she has been consumed with is all she wants, but at what cost?  There are Alpha males, Coyotes, breeds, feral fevers, Commander Breaker's, Jonas calculating ways, retribution, and more, all wrapped up in this installment.  Gypsy is helpless in the arms of Rule, though it kills her to admit it.  His sexual prowess has her eating out of his hands, and nothing makes her crazier than giving in to her needs, which leave her defenseless.  The sex scenes are Hot, and Rule is all Alpha!!!  At any cost, she wanted more, her desire and hunger was overwhelming when it came to those sensuous lips Rule devoured her with. Whenever Rule was pissed off, his lion would come out in him, and he became very dangerous.  The contrast between the lion in him and the man in him, were at complete odds, because of their contradictions within his being.  The secrets come to light in this amazing journey, and not everything is at it seems.

To get to the bottom of this colossal roller coaster ride, concessions are made, especially dangerous interactions with the breeds, precedences broken, loyalties tested, and mandates met. I found this novel intriguing, and would like to go back to start from the beginning so I can get a full picture of all the characters, since there were so many.  It was hard at times to keep everything straight, but I loved the fast paced, complicated, unsettling, intricate story plot.  I give Rule Breaker, by Lora Leigh, 4 Dangerous, Alpha, Torturous Tongue Lapping, Breaking Life Long Shields, Rule Breaking Stars!!!
