Synopsis:

My life had a plan. Until he invaded it and stole it all away. My captor took me and I became a pawn.

His strategy changed and he sent me away to WAR, because money is everything in this world.

In my WAR, though, I found peace.

I couldn’t help but find love where I least expected it, with a man who lived a battle every day of his life …all inside his head.

But then my captor came back for me. Yet, this time, battle lines had been drawn and I was protected.

So we thought.
Even though my WAR was raging,
my captor would fight to the death.

The good guys always win, right?
Not always.

All’s fair in love and WAR, right?
Not this time.

***WARNING*** This is War, Baby is a dark romance. A really dark one. So dark you’re going to wish you had a flashlight to see yourself to the end and someone to hold your hand. Human trafficking, dubious consent, and strong sexual themes that could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. This story is NOT for everyone.

Review:

The first installment of the War & Peace series, by K.Webster, was extremely addictive!!! This is a new to me author so I did not know what to expect from TiWB. I went in with no expectations only knowing that this was a dark romance and that it was the one book that was constantly showing up on my social media news feed. I read it, and I loved it! This was a wickedly intoxicating journey that left me at the edge of my seat!!!

TiWB starts with a bang when Baylee is kidnapped in her home. She has no idea what is going on and she's even more shocked to find out who her captor is. Baylee's calm life comes crashing down when her captor reveals why he kidnapped her. He has every intention of selling her to the highest bidder. What happens next leaves Baylee broken, but at the same time wishing that her captor would keep her because she has no clue who her new master will be. Enters Warren McPherson. The last thing Baylee expected was for someone like War to enter her life. He's awkward and fascinating all at once. As days go by, Baylee and War get close and sparks start to fly. Baylee is breaking every wall that War has so strongly built around him. When Baylee's captor comes back for her, War begins an inner battle with his own personal demons. Will he be able to let go of his past and fight for the girl who has brought peace back in his life?

Baylee and War are such an intriguing couple! When they first met, I did not know what to think of their chemistry. I did not feel it at the moment, but the more time they spent together, the more I fell in love with them. Their chemistry was growing and the sexual tension between them was intense! K. Webster wrote an extremely addictive story with two of the most unique characters that I have ever read about! Baylee and War are far from perfect, but they perfectly fit together. Baylee calms the fury that resides in War's head. She brings him the peace he's been looking for all these years. And, War is everything Baylee never expected. He's a presence that she needs in her life after all she's been through. He's the calm after the storm. His obsessive tendencies own his life, but Baylee will do whatever it takes to comfort his tormented soul.

This is a dark romance. Please take the warning seriously. I have read a few dark romance novels before, but this one was really different. I actually had to put the book down a couple of times because my stomach could not handle the things Baylee's captor was doing to her. It was horrible! Thank God War was there to make me forget about the ugly scenes of this book. He's a one of a kind hero that will steal your heart! His story will break your heart and you will want to jump into to the book and be there for him.

I usually like a book filled with many different characters. I find that they bring the story to a whole other level. I have to admit though that this story only had four characters that made this story an unforgettable reading escape. Baylee, her captor, War and his dad, Land. If you are looking for a dark romance that will grab your attention from the first page, I highly recommend TiWB. This book ends in a cliffhanger that left me gasping for air! I am so happy that I only have to wait a few days for the next one. I can't wait to find out what is going to happen next!

Rating:

I give, This is War Baby, by K. Webster, 4.5 darkly twisted, heart-pumping, all-consuming, provoking stars!
