Synopsis:

Two strangers…

Makenna James thinks her day can't get any worse, until she finds herself stranded in a pitch-black elevator with a complete stranger. Distracted by a phone call, the pin-striped accountant catches only a glimpse of a dragon tattoo on his hand before the lights go out.

Four hours…

Caden Grayson is amused when a harried redhead dashes into his elevator fumbling her bags and cell phone. His amusement turns to panic when the power fails. Despite his piercings, tats, and vicious scar, he's terrified of the dark and confined spaces. Now, he's trapped in his own worst nightmare.

One pitch-black elevator…

To fight fear, they must reach out and open up. With no preconceived notions based on looks to hold them back, they discover just how much they have in common. In the warming darkness, attraction grows and sparks fly, but will they feel the same when the lights come back on?

Review:

I decided to start my 2016 reading challenge by rereading one of my favorite books of all times, which is Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye. I always try to start my year with a book that will bring a smile to my face and deliver all the feels. I also chose this book because Red and Good Sam's story is continuing in a couple of weeks. I was extremely excited when I found out that their story was going to continue. I love them to pieces and I wanted to read more about them.

In Hearts in Darkness, we follow Makenna James and Caden Grayson. The only thing Makenna wants at the end of this stressful day is to go home and enjoy a nice bottle of wine and the comfort of her sofa. The last thing she expected, and wanted, was to get stuck in an elevator with a stranger. As minutes go by, Makenna and Caden get to know each other through a series of fun, emotional and sometimes awkward questions. The more time she spends with Caden, the more Makenna finds him intriguing. She forgot all about her wine/sofa date and can't help thinking about Caden. In the darkness sparks fly, but will they continue their journey together or take their separate ways once the elevator doors open?

When I realized that I did not write a review for one of my favorite books, I had to change that ASAP! This is not the first time I reread this story. I know it by heart, but I wanted to make sure that other people that have not read Makenna and Caden's story get to know how fantastic they are. If you have not meet them you are truly missing out! I have never found a novella that delivers all the feels like this book does! Makenna and Caden's chemistry is instant and you can feel it! Laura Kaye's writing style is captivating and gets you hooked from the very first page.

I had no trouble connecting with Makenna and Caden.  Their banter is extremely entertaining and I completely feel in love with them! I was cheering for them from the very beginning and I loved how the author wrote their story. When I finished this book I wanted more and my prayers have been answered!! I can't wait to reunite with Red and Good Sam ;) If you have not read anything by this author, I highly recommend starting with Hearts in Darkness.  It will get you hooked! If you are looking for a quick, sexy, romantic and heart-melting story, this is exactly the book you are looking for! Makenna is a fun and sassy heroine and Caden is a big teddy bear with a heart of gold (tattoos and piercings included)

Rating:

I give, Hearts in Darkness, by Laura Kaye 4.5 captivating, fun, sweet, sexy, Caden will swoon you off your feet stars!
