Summary:

Brent Payton has a reputation for wanting to have fun, all the time. It’s well-earned after years of ribbing his brothers and flirting with every girl he meets, but he’s more than just a good time, even though nobody takes the time to see it. When a new girl walks into his family’s garage with big thoughtful eyes and legs for days, this mechanic wants something serious for the first time.

Ivy Dawn is done with men, all of them. She and her sister uprooted their lives for them too many times and she’s not willing to do it again. Avoiding the opposite sex at all costs seems easy enough, until the sexy mechanic with the dirty mouth bursts into her life.

Brent can’t resist the one woman who sees past his devil-may-care facade and Ivy finds it harder and harder to deny how happy he makes her. But Ivy has secrets she hasn’t shared and when the truth comes out, she must decide if she’s willing to take one more chance on love or let him go forever.

My Thoughts:

Megan Erickson brings us gold again!  I absolutely adore the Mechanics of Love Series.  Dare I say that this series is my favorite of hers.  The Payton Brothers have gotten under my skin.  Sawoooon!!!  I am in love!  In Dirty Thoughts, we got Cal, the serious and stoic brother, and Jenna his first love's story.

Now, in Dirty Talk, we get Brent Payton, the flirty, never serious, always joking and having a good time, middle brother's story.   His love interest is the sweet, beautiful, and single mother, Ivy Dawn.  She just moved to town with her older sister, Alex (who just got hired as a mechanic for Payton Automotive.)

In Dirty Talk, we get the phenomenal cast from Dirty Thoughts!  Jack, Cal, Jenna, Asher, Delilah, Brent, and now we get to learn all about Davis (Brent's new neighbor and friend), Alex, Ivy, and her sweet little daughter, Violet.  Each of these characters contributed to the story beautifully and were extremely likable.

Alex, Ivy, and Violet have been on the run from Alex's abusive ex-boyfriend, Robby.  Now that they've settled in Tory, Maryland, they have found a place that feels like "home."  Alex has settled in to her job at Payton Automotive, Violet loves her school, and Ivy just got a job working at Delilah's Drawers.  To top it off these three have friends, and a surrogate family with the Payton family and Delilah.  However, the Dawn Sisters made a pact to stay clear of men.  They have both had horrible experiences with men from their past, and don't need any extra strife in their lives.

Therefore, when Ivy meet's Brent, she promises herself to stay clear.  They share a mutual attraction, and Brent is charming, flirty, and fun.  However, when Brent saves Violet from a horrible event, everything changes.  Ivy feels thankful for Brent, and wants to pay him back.  However, all that he wants is a date with Ivy.  When these two hit it off, Ivy discovers that there is a lot more to Brent than what he let's others see.  She discovers his sweet, serious, and sensitive side.  She realizes he is truly special.  However, she made a promise to her sister not to get involved with anyone.

As Ivy and Brent start sneaking around to see each other,  things get serious, and feelings grow quickly.  Then, Alex learns that Robby is trying to find her.  She wants to take her family far from Tory.  What will Ivy do?  Let down her big sister, who was there for her when nobody else was?  Or, lose Brent, a man that she has fallen madly in love with?

Ivy and Brent made a beautiful couple.  I loved how Ivy brought out a softer side out of Brent, and encouraged him to follow his dreams.  Brent made Ivy feel beautiful, loved, and supported.  He was a great friend to her, Violet, and Alex.  The pacing of this story made reading effortless.  I actually wanted to slow down my reading, because I wasn't ready to say goodbye to these characters.  The passions flared hot between Brent and Ivy!  Wow, these two had crazy chemistry!  To top it off, their friendship and emotional connection made them have something so special and priceless.

My Rating:

I give, Dirty Talk, by Megan Erickson, 5 Combustible Chemistry, Meaningful Connection, Fun, Flirty, Give Brent a "Smackiss,"  Filled Stars!  The Mechanics of Love story has phenomenal characters, scorching heat, dynamic plot lines, and sweet sweet love!!!

About Megan Erickson:

Megan Erickson grew up in a family that averages 5’5” on a good day and started writing to create characters who could reach the top kitchen shelf.
She’s got a couple of tattoos, has a thing for gladiators and has been called a crazy cat lady. After working as a journalist for years, she decided she liked creating her own endings better and switched back to fiction.
She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids and two cats. And no, she still can’t reach the stupid top shelf.
