Excerpt:

When I finally plucked up a bit of courage, I peeped out of the curtains to see Kieran throwing stones at the window.

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair,” he mock shouted, when he caught my eye. I opened the window to whisper loudly back at him.

“Are you high?” I asked. “Why didn’t you just ring the doorbell or call me?”

“I thought this would be more romantic,” he said.

“If I ignore the fact that my nipples probably have frostbite, I am feeling romanced,” I replied. He looked pained. “What’s wrong?” I asked.

“You said ‘nipples’ and now I can’t think of anything else,” he replied, making me smile.

“Now I’m down here, what’s the chances of seeing an accidental nip slip?” he asked.

“Depends,” I replied.

“On what?” he asked.

“What’s in the bag?” I said.

“Hot chocolate and warm doughnuts,” he said, holding up the bag as if to barter.

“Well, I would have said slim to none, but fresh doughnuts might have just tipped the odds in your favour,” I replied.

“Yesss!” he said, fist bumping the air in victory.

I closed the window and ran to buzz him in. He bounded up the stairwell, his heavy footsteps echoing loudly in the hallway. When he got to my door, he looked me up and down, taking in my short royal blue, silk pyjamas. Dropping the sack, he speared his hands into my hair and pulled me into a kiss that had me melting. Kier didn’t kiss with just his lips; he did it with his whole body. Without shoes on, I was tiny in comparison, but inside of the cage of his huge arms, I felt protected and safe. Despite his size, his lips were so gentle. He didn’t treat me like I was fragile, but like I was precious, as though every touch was one that he was experiencing for the first time and memorizing for later.

Feeling bold, I traced the seam of his mouth with my tongue, and when he parted his lips and touched his tongue against mine, I groaned. Every sensation was too much, and not enough. Breathless, he pulled away from me to nuzzle his face in the crook of my neck. I reached up and gently stroked the short hair at the back of his neck, making him sigh.

Review:

Many readers have a place they call home in Book Town. Driscoll’s Gym is a place I call home. R.J. Prescott created a place where the characters are much more than just characters. They are a part of my life and it always brings a smile to my face to reunite with them. I have waited more than a year to reunite with this amazing crew and the author gave me a reunion that left me gasping for air! If you are not familiar with The Hurricane Series, you are seriously missing out!

R.J. Prescott did a phenomenal job with the first two installments. The Storm is such an amazing addition to this wonderful series. You don’t need to read the first two books to enjoy Marie and Kieran`s book. It can be read as a standalone, but I highly suggest that you don’t skip Emily and Cormac’s incredible love story. It’s such a beautiful and emotional reading journey.

The Storm was an unputdownable book and the only reason I actually put it down was to message the author. I needed to stop reading and let her know what this story was doing to me. Marie and Kieran’s love story captivated me from the very beginning. At the end of the Prologue, tears were making an appearance. Marie and Kieran both had obstacles to overcome through the years. The past has left Kieran's heart scarred and he’s not ready to embark on the train that will lead him to the road called LOVE. Getting attached to somebody is too dangerous and he’s trying to always keep his distance. Until Marie Kelly enters his life. He’s determined to break all his rules if it means keeping her by his side. At the Driscoll Gym, you fight for what you want. Kieran wants Marie and no matter the obstacle that will come their way, Kieran will do whatever it takes to win this ultimate fight that will bring him one step closer to a HEA with Marie.

It was very difficult for me to write this review. I can’t even put into words what this reading escape did to me. It was EVERYTHING!!!! I cried buckets of tears and felt every single moment of Marie and Kieran's love story. At one point of the story, I thought that my heart was going to burst! It was difficult to continue reading because I was crying so much. I don't want to give anything away because I want everybody to have an incredible reading journey just like I did.

Marie and Kieran are two phenomenal characters that will have you cheering for them from beginning to end! They have an incredible chemistry and each moment that they share together will give you all the feels! Kieran was such a fantastic hero. He took care of Marie like his life depended on it and his love for her was absolutely heart-melting! Marie was such a strong and confident heroine. She's a true warrior and I loved how she opened her heart to Kieran and gave him a first-class seat on the Love Train.

It was a pleasure to reunite with the rest of the cast of characters from this series. Like always, Danny was hilarious. No shenanigans allowed in his gym! lol!!! The supporting cast of characters in this series is out of this world!!! A supporting character in this series is getting his book next and I`m extremely excited to get my hands on his story. It will be EPIC!! I know it in my heart that R.J. Prescott will give him a story that we will never forget!

Rating:

I give, The Storm, by R.J. Prescott, 5 phenomenal, unforgettable, emotional, romantic, captivating stars!

Excerpt:

“Okay. Open your eyes. What do you think?” I took my hands away and let Em look. This was almost as nerve wracking as asking her to marry me. Back then I was asking her to forget all the crap surrounding me and imagine a better version who’d make something of themselves. I was asking her to take a chance on me. Now I was doing the same with this house.

Tommy was right. It was a shit hole. But when I was done, it would be a palace. A home for the two of us no one could ever take away. I stared at her expression, looking for any sign at all about how she felt.

“I love it,” she whispered, looking up at it in awe. I let out a deep breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding.

“I know it doesn’t look like much now, but imagine if I cleared out and repaired the front garden, put in new windows and new fencing. Liam and I have gone over this place inch by inch, and the roof is sound. With a bit of hard work, it’ll look great.”

I was rambling now. She’d already agreed to it, so I have no idea why I was giving her the hard sell.

“Can we afford it?” she asked, her eyes full of wonder.

“It’d take all our money and then some. But I’ve worked out a loan with Danny for what we need, and we can pay him back with the rent money we’ll save on our flat. We’ll have to fix it up on a budget but the boys have offered to help with the labor.”

With a squeal, Em threw her arms around my neck and kissed me loudly. “I can’t believe you found this place. It’s going to be amazing! I know I can’t do any building work but I can clean, strip wallpaper, and paint,” she babbled excitedly. “Ooow, we could go and get some paint samples today,” she suggested.

“We haven’t even had an offer accepted yet,” I pointed out with a chuckle.

“I know, but there’s nothing wrong with planning ahead. Can we look inside?”

“Sure. The agent is meeting us in a few minutes to show us around. It’s pretty rough inside, but the rooms are a nice size. You just have to use your imagination.”

“I can do that,” she whispered as she smiled at me adoringly. Her eyes were full of everything I’d felt when I’d first seen the place, and I knew she was imagining our future in a real home of our own.

My heart was so full I felt invincible. The way she was looking at me, you’d think I’d built this place brick by brick myself. I’d spend the rest of the day trailing after her doing whatever she liked just to keep that look. With another squeal, she covered my face in tiny kisses, making me laugh, until a discrete cough sounded behind us.

“Are you here for the viewing?” a skinny kid who looked about my age asked.

“Yes please,” Em answered. She was lit up inside and practically radiated happiness. People couldn’t help but be charmed by her natural warmth, and he was no exception. He smiled broadly at her and with a wink said, “Let’s go and check it out.”

My crossed arms and fierce glare told him that I wouldn’t tolerate another wink, and he got the message as he messed around with the keys nervously. Rolling her eyes, Em pulled on my arms until I uncrossed them and clasped her fingers between mine. She was used to me getting territorial around her but she really had no idea how many hungry looks followed her around.

The agent used his shoulder to push open the front door, past a mountain of junk mail, then fussed about brushing the dirt and paint chips off his suit. The previous owner really had gone to town with a baseball bat, and literally everything would need replacing but it didn’t matter. The more we looked, the more Em fell in love.

By the time we were done, there were stars in her eyes. Having realized that flirting with Em was hazardous to his health, the agent couldn’t get out of there quick enough. He told us to call the office if we wanted to make an offer.

“I’ll be in touch,” I promised him menacingly, mostly just to fuck with him, but he practically wet himself as he hightailed it back to his car. Em was so caught up in the house she didn’t notice. It was going to be a hell of a day.

Review:

The Aftermath, by R.J. Prescott, was one of my most anticipated books of 2015. When I read The Hurricane a few months ago, I was amazed by R.J. Prescott's first novel. I fell in love hard with her amazing characters and with her phenomenal writing style. When I found out that Em and O'Connell's story was far from over I was extremely excited!

I can't tell you too much about this book without giving away some spoilers so I will do my best to recap this story. You need to absolutely read The Hurricane to follow Em and O' Connell's  beautiful love story. Their is something major that happens to Em in that book that continues to haunt her. She's still in Danger and O'Connell will do everything in his power to protect her. O'Connell fighting career is just about to take off when Em's life is put in danger again. Will he have the power to save his girl and win the biggest fight of his life?

If you have not met Em and O'Connell you are seriously missing out!! R.J. Prescott created a cast of characters that you want to hang out with. I feel like they are more than just characters. They are like my very own family. I always wonder what happens to the characters I read about when I turn the last page of their story. The Aftermath is a gift for any reader that fell in love with these characters. A story filled with beautiful moments between the main characters, but always with the supporting characters that make this reading journey even more amazing.

Em and O'Connell's chemistry is stronger than ever in this book. You can feel it in every single scene that they share together. O'Connell is deeply in love with his Sunshine. She's the best thing that ever happened in his life and he will do whatever it takes to make her happy and keep her safe every single day of her life. Prepare to for the swoon fest coming your way because O'Connell will melt your heart! Em continues to make me cheer for her. I loved her from the moment I met her in The Hurricane and I have to admit that her determination to fight the demons of her past is breathtaking! No matter how many times she falls, she stands back up ready for the fight of her life.

I had a blast reuniting with the supporting characters and meeting new ones. I highly recommend this series that will keep you hooked from beginning to end. You will fall in love with all these amazing characters just like I did. I have no clue if any of the supporting characters will get their own book, but I really hope so! They are all phenomenal, sweet and they protect the ones they love fiercely. I can't wait to see what's next!

Rating:

I give The Aftermath, by R.J. Prescott, 4.5 fantastic, page-turning, healing, captivating stars!
