Stacking the Shelves & Sunday Post (40)

This was the last week of school for my daughter.  I signed her up for a summer swim class.  I am also thinking of signing her up for gymnastics and horseback riding.  I want to keep her busy and active this summer.

Last weekend we visited Safari Park and Sea World and had a great time!  We also visited the Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore in San Diego, which I have been interested in visiting for a while now.  I loved it!

They have a ton of signed books, fun bookish items (like bookish socks, shirts, scarves, pins, journals, etc.). They have mini book reviews posted underneath books they want to spotlight, and have frequent readings by beloved authors.

I saw Rachel Vincent's Fury there and started reading it in the store.  The story sucked my right in, and I realized I wanted the book.  However, I saw it was part of the Menagerie Trilogy. So, I'm going to need to read the books that came before it.  Have any of you read the series?

While we were there I bought myself and my mom each a shirt that has the store logo on the front and says Eat. Read. Sleep. on the back.  I love it!!!  I also bought myself and my mom cute little notepads (I love stuff like that,) and my daughter 3 books.

Since my family didn't get to celebrate my 40th with me, they had a celebration at my Mom's house on Saturday night.

I'm so jealous you got a copy of Sapphire Flames! I was rejected on Edelweiss (it's hit and miss for me on that site, boo!) but I then noticed it was up on Netgalley and I requested it there. I'm crossing my fingers that I get approved. :)

  17. I've read the whole Menagerie series. Yes, start at the beginning. It is also excellent on audio. Gabra Zackman is one of my favorite narrators. I listened in preparation for NOLAStorycon in 2016 and got the audiobook at the library.

Sounds like a great week! Enjoy your new reads and your summer activities.

  18. Sounds like you've had an amazing past couple weeks. So happy you got to have to have a good birthday and past couple weeks. Your daughter looks like she had a good time while at the zoo. I haven't heard of that bookstore, but it sounds like Anderson's near Chicago, ever been there?
