Summary
A young woman desperate to outrun her nightmare reluctantly falls straight into the arms of the one boy who might be able to wake her up in this sweet and sexy debut about finding love while confronting your demons.

After Emma Fletcher is viciously attacked and left for dead, she flees to her old childhood hometown where she’s confronted with bitter memories of her damaged past and alcoholic mother. Emma is determined to make her stay temporary and get out with minimal emotional damage. What she doesn’t count on is Tristan Banks: auto mechanic, coffee addict, and town hottie with dark secrets of his own.

Tristan’s track record of saving girls has historically led to failure. The last thing he needs is trouble in the form of a leggy brunette with an attitude, but when he starts to fall for Emma, Tristan realizes the only way he can save her is to help her save herself.

Unexpected Love is Often the Sweetest

I stumbled upon the Enchantment of Emma Fletcher and I am so happy I did. Honestly this book was tantalizing. Just the right amount of anticipation and bread crumbs to keep the reader engaged. My average reading time for a book is 2-5 days and I devoured this book in one sitting. #squadgoals…This is the first book from Ms. Crichton but I sure hope it isn’t the last. The flow was very smooth and the characters were a blast to hang out with. Not too long and not too short this was the perfect size to convey a sweet romance and enable a fun escape. Contemporary for sure but it touched on several literary tropes that made me enjoy it all the more.

The Story, Emma feels like a failure and the last thing she wants to do is return to her summer home. She is wanting to erase a haunting nightmare that has taken over her life. First she must run then she must figure out a way to move forward with her life. Emma is none too excited to deal with her alcoholic mother but something has changed. Surprised by what she finds Emma decides to take a chance on a relationship with the person who let her down as a child. Reuniting with her best friend Marley these fabulous duo will capture the sights of two of Stonefall’s most eligible bachelors. Having fun and rediscovering romance is a nice adventure for Emma and she is enjoying herself but the past has a way of creeping up and it really challenges everything she is working towards.

The Characters, Emma, Tristan, Marley, and Mateo were all a blast to read about they were definitely my favorite part of this book. Their characters really came to life and brought this story together very nicely. Emma is dealing with a very difficult demon and her personality still shines through and captures the attention of Tristan. Mateo and Marley are the best friends of our lead characters and they were very complementing. If I had to pick a favorite character it would have to be Tristan of course. He is kind and loving and a little broken too. I loved the way he was able to bring Emma’s walls down their love story was an endearing one to read.

The End, as I mentioned the past comes calling and Emma has to confront her demons. I really enjoyed the way the author lays out the ending. No one is saved by someone else, these characters each find a way to save themselves. There was a moment there towards the end where I was cringing so this is definitely a read for a more mature audience but overall it was addressed very well.

My Rating
