Synopsis:

After a photograph of Luc Moretti saving a tourist hits social media, he instantly becomes New York's most famous and beloved cop. When a major network decides to run a special on the "American Hero," Luc's boss gives him no choice but to cooperate in the name of good exposure for the department. Luc doesn't mind the celebrity status-what he does mind is the gorgeous brunette journalist who's been assigned to follow his every move. Especially since she also happens to be the same knockout that rejected him rather publicly the week before.

Ava Sims is a woman who gets what she wants. And what she wants is to be CBC's lead anchor-but to get there, she'll need to nail the fluff piece on the playboy cop. Luc Moretti is everything Ava knows to stay away from: a stubborn charmer with a hero-complex. But the more Ava gets to know Luc and his oddball family, the more she realizes that beneath the swagger and the blue uniform is a complex man who makes her heart beat too fast. Soon, Ava's doing the unthinkable, and falling for the best of New York's finest …

Review:

Last year I discovered The Best Mistake Series by Lauren Layne. I knew from the moment  I read the first book that it would not be my last time reading a book from this author. She writes beautifully and her stories are always a page-turning reading escape! I was excited to find out that she had a new series, which would be featuring a family of cops.

Luc Moretti is trying to get away from all the publicity he's been getting since he saved a little girl. There is only one problem ... Ava Sims. Working with a reporter is the last thing that Luc wants. He has secrets that needs to stay in the past, but the more time he spends with Ava, the closer she gets to finding the real story. Ava is determined to succeed in life and working close with America's new hero is just her ticket to get her to her ultimate career goal. What she never expected was to fall hard for Luc. As days go by, Ava gets closer to finding out what Luc is hiding from his past. Will she be able to keep his secrets or will her career get in the way?

This story was great! It kept me glued to my seat and I had a huge smile on my face when I finished reading it. What I love the most about this book is the banter between Ava and Luc. It's simply amazing!!! It's entertaining, sweet, flirty and completely addictive! These two have an awesome chemistry and the more they got to know each other, the more that chemistry grew more intense.

Ava was a great heroine, but I have to admit that she made me lose it a couple of times. I loved how persistent she was. She knew exactly what she wanted in life. She always felt pressure from her family when it came to her career and to see her take a step towards the future that she deserved was simply amazing. I loved how she drove Luc nuts ... lol!! What I liked less about her is how she handled the whole situation about Luc's past. I know she's a reporter and that was her job to find the real story, but it still got to me. I absolutely loved Luc! My heart broke for him when his secrets were revealed. Luc knew that falling for Ava was dangerous. He wanted to keep her far away from his past. The only problem was that falling for her was inevitable. She got under his skin and each moment with her was making him feel alive again.

Ava and Luc were such amazing characters to fall in love with! Their chemistry pulls you in and never lets you go! You will be cheering for them just like I did. I loved how easy it was for Ava to talk to Luc. She always had something to say that would make him take a step out of his shell. It was beautiful to see them slowly falling in love.

It was fascinating to learn about Luc and the Moretti family. The author did an amazing job of describing each member of the family. It gives me a good idea of what to expect in the next books in this series. My favorite character was Luc's Nonna. She was a blast!!! She always had something to say and many times it would leave you speechless ... lol!!! I'm really happy about this new series and I can't wait to read more about New York's finest cops! ;)
