GR's Summary:

Grant Osprey just had the hottest sex of his life. Sure, they were both in costume, and yes, it was anonymous, but he never expected her to bolt in the middle of the night without so much as a good bye, let alone exchanging numbers. Or names. All he’s left with are her panties and some seriously X-rated memories...until he meets his business partner's little sister.

Only Chloe Talley isn't the bold, sexy vixen he remembers. And she wants nothing to do with him.

Cosplay is Chloe’s only chance to leave her boring, socially awkward world behind. To forget that she’s failing at life and can’t be with anyone, let alone a single-father like Grant. But the raw hunger between them is undeniable. With him, she can be a misbehaving maid. A sexy call girl for hire. Each scene pushes Chloe beyond her strict boundaries, until Grant demands the one character she can't play. Herself.

My Thoughts:

Playing for Her Heart is the second book in the Gamers series, and it was such a fun, adventurous, and sexy thrill ride of a story!  I did not want to put this book down!

Grant Osprey is the co-business owner of a gaming magazine and single father to high school teenager, Sydney.  All of his time is focused on his  work and daughter.  Chloe Talley, is the younger sister of Ethan Talley, Grant's business partner.  Chloe is intelligent, dedicated to her family, and warm-hearted.  She is highly sought after as a freelance computer expert.  However, she is socially awkward, and has a very low self-esteem.

One thing that Grant and Chloe share a passion for is cosplay, or dressing up in costume and roleplaying.  They end up meeting at Comic-Con, and are dressed as character counterparts from Aric's Revenge.  Chloe comes to life when she is role playing.  Sparks fly between these two and they have a passionate one night stand.  However, when Grant wakes up, Chloe has already left before he gets the opportunity to know about the real her.  They don't even know each other's real names.

Chloe always sneaks out after a one night stand, because she is sure that any man would be disappointed with the real Chloe.  She doesn't think very highly of herself even though she is an amazing person.  Imagine Grant's surprise when his business associate Ethan brings Chloe to dinner and introduces her as his younger sister.  Soon, Chloe and Grant are meeting secretly and engaging in sexy role-play.  However, Grant wants to get to know the real Chloe and not just the character's that she plays.

It was really fun reading about Grant and Chloe.  I had never heard the term cosplay before, and enjoyed learning all about it.  Ms. Erickson used her signature writing style to reel me in, hook me, and leave me utterly addicted to her story.  Grant and Chloe came to life.  We got to know them on a deeper level, especially Chloe.  She has a heartbreaking family backstory, that made me sympathetic.  I loved getting more Sydney.  She is a great character as well.  It was also great catching up with Marley and Austin from the first book in the series.

I'm hoping that we get Ethan's story next.  He needs the love of a strong, and nurturing person in his life.  I will be continuing this series.  I love it, and highly recommend it!!!

My Rating:

I give, Playing for her Heart, by Megan Erickson, 4 Sexy Cosplay, Wicked Tongue, The Love of A Good Man Filled Stars!  You will love Grant and Chloe.  They make a phenomenal book couple, and bring out the best in each other!  If you love a hot Brazen romance, the Gamers series is superb!!!

About Megan Erickson:

Megan Erickson grew up in a family that averages 5’5” on a good day and started writing to create characters who could reach the top kitchen shelf.

She’s got a couple of tattoos, has a thing for gladiators and has been called a crazy cat lady. After working as a journalist for years, she decided she liked creating her own endings better and switched back to fiction.

She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids and two cats. And no, she still can’t reach the stupid top shelf.

  2. The whole role playing and cosplay really piques my interest. I've never read a book with that kind of element in it. And the characters sound like ones I would love to get to know!

    Lovely review!

  5. I love Brazen novels! They are always so good. Who could go wrong with role-play?
