GR's Summary:

Find out if rock sensation Simon can break through tough-girl Devon’s steely exterior—if he can keep his head on straight, that is—in this second sizzling romance in the True series!

Devon Jenkins is a feisty blonde, and Simon Cole is the arrogant, sexy guitarist playing in her brother’s band. When they met for the first time, it went something like this: He hit on her, she shot him down, he made a lewd joke, she told him he was an idiot.

In the two years since then, not much has changed. From the way Simon flirts shamelessly with any set of ovaries within a 100-mile radius, Devon knows the smartest thing she can do is keep an impenetrable wall between them.

But sometimes the smart choice isn’t necessarily the right one…

My Thoughts:

Liora Blake is a new favorite author of mine!  I'm one of those readers that likes to stick to authors that I already love.  I am so happy that I took a chance on exploring a new-to-me author.  If I hadn't, I would be missing out on a phenomenally talented writer, and gifted story teller.  Liora Blake has been added to my auto-buy author list.  She truly is amazing, and I highly recommend the True Series.

In True North, we got an wonderful story about the popular and sexy lead musician, Trevor, and the small town gifted author Kate.  In True Devotion, we get Devon (Trevor's sister,) and (Trevor's best friend and co-band member,) Simon's love story.  In True North, we got to see the flirting, witty banter, and off the charts chemistry between Devon and Simon.  However, Devon turned him down at every chance, because she saw Simon as a player who would chase anyone in a skirt.

In True Devotion, we finally get to see Devon give in to her desires and take a chance on Simon!  However, Devon has a lot of baggage.  She doesn't trust very easily, has trouble letting her walls down, sharing her true self, and believing that she is worthy of someone as wonderful as Simon.  Will she be able to work through her issue's or destroy her chance at being with a man that is deeply in love and devoted to her?

True Devotion was an excellent read!!!  Simon was a brilliant character.  He was charming, funny, sweet, sensitive, caring, loyal, and a selfless lover.  Devon had a rough outer shell, but deep inside she was emotionally scarred and hurting.  She had been through a lot in her childhood, growing up in the projects, and thinking of herself as "white trash."  To top it off, she had been abusived by an ex-lover.  This caused her to withdraw in to herself.  Simon was intelligent, wealthy, highly educated, and talented.  This caused more of Devon's insecurities to bleed through.  She didnt understand how someone as amazing as Simon would want to be with her.  It took the love of Simon, and the wisdom of her best friend Stacia, to try to work through her self-doubts and lack of confidence.

One of my favorite aspects of True Devotion was the depth of emotional intimacy shared by the main characters.  Devon and Simon were so real, believable, and richly made multi-layered, fleshed out characters.  I felt like I knew the essence of who they really were.  The steamy and erotic love scenes between these two just cemented their closeness, and was icing on the cake.  Add in humor, fun and flirty banner, erotic role-play, and a great secondary cast of characters, and you can see why True Devotion was a riveting romantic read!

My Rating:

I give, True Devotion, by Liora Blake, 5 Filthy Shenanigans, Erotic Oblivion, Hilarious, Tender Adoration Filled Stars!  This story blew me away, and I adored every single minute!!!   Up next, we will get Kate's sister, Lacey's story in True Divide!  I can't wait to continue this favorite series of mine!

About Liora Blake:

Liora Blake is a contemporary romance author living in Colorado. Although her path to here was paved with a million detours, plenty of pitfalls, and many a crisis of faith, she thinks it’s a pretty amazing place to be. She writes because it’s what she’s always wanted to do, she writes novels because she likes to tell the whole story, and she writes romance because a happily ever after is the best kind of story to tell.

When she isn’t writing, she’s likely baking cookies she shouldn’t eat, inventing elaborate excuses to avoid going for a run, or asking the nice barista to sell her another quad-shot Americano.

Liora is represented by Victoria Lowes of The Bent Agency.
