Summary

A princess must find her place in a reborn world.

She flees on her wedding day.

She steals ancient documents from the Chancellor's secret collection.

She is pursued by bounty hunters sent by her own father.

She is Princess Lia, seventeen, First Daughter of the House of Morrighan.

The Kingdom of Morrighan is steeped in tradition and the stories of a bygone world, but some traditions Lia can't abide. Like having to marry someone she's never met to secure a political alliance.

Fed up and ready for a new life, Lia flees to a distant village on the morning of her wedding. She settles in among the common folk, intrigued when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deceptions swirl and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—secrets that may unravel her world—even as she feels herself falling in love.

Standing True Has Never Been So Difficult

Eeeeeeeeeeeeep!
The Kiss of Deception WAS SO GOOD! I can’t take it…I just, can’t. I had some reservations with this title because when it comes to this genre/ overall feel usually one of two things happens. 1. The writing feels forced and or fake or just plain overly drawn out. I’m not sure why but some authors tend to overdo it with the description. I mean who doesn’t appreciate a beautiful sunset? But dedicating 6 pages to one? Come on man! Okay 2. Magic. Yep actually being transformed to another world and walking along with the characters!!!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeep!
Pearson NAILED it!! #2 all the way! This book holds the essence of magic but it is wonderfully told! There are no wands or wizards(not that theirs anything wrong with that! I heart Neville) the magic is in the beauty of the words telling this story.

Each main character is so complex with different layers of dimensions. Lia is strong, scared, tired, determined, honest, protective, smart, fun, serious, committed, quick to temper, but so stead fast when it comes to caring for her family. Yes she makes some mistakes but her character is so wonderfully composed that those mistakes are little blips that the reader will just pass over. The guys-Yow-Za! Rafe - Sigh Kaden - Sigh. Getting to know these two based on how the story is written was absolutely lovely. All of the side characters were also a load of fun to read about. I can with 100% certainty say I am counting down the days until July 7th to read the next installment. If I hold my breath I will die…so i’ll just stay calm and go read some contemporary while the next comes out.

K-in, Lia loves her brothers dearly she only wishes she could love freely the way they do.
I-ntrusion, being scrapped with a wedding Kava is no way how Lia wants to spend her morning. This is just another example of how she is a prisoner.
S-uppressed, so many things Lia has wanted to say to her family both mother and father. Now on the cusp of everything changing Lia will not hold her tongue.
S-ecrets, Lia knows everyone has them its time to turn hers into a reality that everyone will know. No longer a pawn Lia will make her own way.

O-pportunities, along with her best friend Lia will travel to a place where happiness exits in abundance. Lia hopes to capture some for herself.
F-ate, two very different travelers come upon Lia’s new life. Though both have different reasons to be there, it is Lia’s heart and pure spirit that makes them change everything.

D-reams, though distant and vague Lia wants to have what her brothers have. Against all odds Lia will fight to be happy.
E-scape, plotting murder is daunting especially when the assassin falls in love with his mark.
C-ourage, all it would’ve taken is a meeting or two their bond is so strong the prince can not believe just how amazing Lia is.
E-xpectations, Lia has come to care for her new friends but life has called her to serve and she will strive for that calling in ernest.
P-rince, knowing he is on the verge of losing her nothing will stop him from fighting for her.
T-rust, shattered to bits finding out friend is foe will hurt Lia to the core. Lia will grow and overcome many things on her journey.
I-ncantation, written so very very long ago Lia will find her namesake and why she is so important.
O-wning, Lia has been taught to avoid her voice and her soul the magic that calls within. No more will she turn from it instead Lia will find a new freedom in knowing.
N-ightmares, arriving at the enemy’s door would make most cower in fear. Lia will stand strong and fight with all that she has. The enemy doesn’t know who they are dealing with.

Eeeeeeeeep!
Yikes let me tell you that ending wasn’t super cliffy but it was omg enough to have me panting over the next book! So quick recap I loved this book it was almost perfect but I’m not sure where the series is going. I don’t think it'll revert back to a 1. but there are still so many questions out there about discoveries Lia makes and who everyone truly is. I loved the mystery in this novel because it wasn’t blatant I’m not a fan of the who’d done it. In The Kiss of Deception the reader peels one layer back at a time with shocking surprises and twists along the way. There were no fillers every paragraph contributed wonderfully to the story. The writing was lyrical and over all beautiful!

My Rating
4.5 Kava, Run, Jewels, Inn, Cottage, Prince, Assassin, Festival, Cider, Brother, Aunt, Friend, Scum, Wreath, Blood, Box, Arrow, Log, Dance, Kiss, Bridge, Prisoner, Desperate, Chase, Vagabonds, Gift, Horses, Walking, Reuniting Love filled Stars!!!

It comes out July 7th but then I'll be facing book Nerd problem #342...Reading a book in 1 day and having to wait 1 year until the next comes out. 3. It's great this author got it right. I agree that descriptions can get out of hand in books of this type. Glad this one didn't have that issue.
