Laura Drake is an author. She writes bestselling paranormal romances that continue to top the charts. She is sharp. She is confident. She is in control. And she doesn’t exist. Samantha Jansen is the woman behind the wig, the woman most of the world doesn’t know exists. She is shy. She is insecure. She is nothing like her main character or her alter ego. She is scarred—deeply scarred—by a past she can’t let go of and a present she can’t make peace with. Samantha’s dreams are consumed by one man, the broken hero from her books. Mason Strait is both her wildest fantasy and her most terrifying nightmare. When Samantha meets Alec Brand, a corporate consultant, it is as though Mason has come to life. Alec is handsome to a fault, as elegant as he is arrogant, and more intense than any man has a right to be. Samantha is soon sucked into a world that mirrors the fiction she writes. Just like her main character, Daire Kirby, Samantha finds herself unable to resist the forbidden lure of Alec. And just like Daire, she also finds that she is faced with taking a chance on a man who could either set her free or destroy her. The scale tilts toward destruction when Samantha finds out that Alec is as much a work of fiction as Mason. And he has scars of his own, scars that could ruin them both.

GR's Summary:

New body. New clothes. New men.

Used to the average Joe, Caitlyn Moore is overwhelmed when the supremely masculine Dante Jones walks into her life and expresses an interest in her. At first she pushes him away, refusing to encourage the attention of a cage fighter. Then she learns Dante has a love ‘em and leave ‘em reputation. What better way to fine-tune her non-existent flirting skills than with a male who won’t stick around? But Dante has no intention of being a practice dummy; he’s out for all or nothing. Now Caitlyn must accept Dante—violent career and all—or let him go.

Dante “Inferno” Jones has one goal: win the Welterweight Championship. At a time when focus is crucial, the last thing he needs is a distraction. Yet Caitlyn Moore becomes a challenge he can’t resist. When the light-hearted pursuit shifts to a battle to win her heart, his focus is shot. Faced with losing the biggest match of his career, Dante must decide if his extreme life also has room for Extreme Love.

I was excited to read, "Extreme Love," by Abby Niles when I saw the hot cover of the gorgeously fit, and sexy fighter that graced the front.  Then, I read the synopsis, and thought that this book sounded like it had a fun, sexy, feel good vibe to it.  However, this story was not what I was expecting.  There were aspects of the story that I really enjoyed, and then other aspects that I did not enjoy so much.  I enjoyed the main characters Caitlyn, and Dante to a certain extent, as well as the storyline.  However, I felt like the pacing was off in the first half of the book, and certain parts of the story really dragged for me.

One of my favorite aspects to the story were the main characters, Caitlyn, and Dante.  Caitlyn was not your typical female lead in a romance novel.  She was a size twelve, had lost 80 pounds in the previous months, was very insecure, timid, and didn't view herself as attractive.  Dante, was gorgeous, fit, and always had girls throwing themselves at him, because he was a well known MMA fighter, and successful at what he did.  At first, Dante was attracted to Caitlyn because she posed a challenge, and wasn't the typical groupie throwing herself at him.  After he discovered that she was a woman with depth, and he could carry a conversation with her, Caitlyn became everything he could ever possibly want in a woman.  Plus, he was extremely attracted to her, as she was him.  I enjoyed the fact that Caitlyn was not the cookie-cutter stereo-type that is often represented in romance novels.  If anything, I think "real" women can relate to her character more than the image of the "perfect" woman that is often the main lead in romance stories.  I also enjoyed Caitlyn's background story.  She was motivated, dedicated, and worked hard to not only shed all of those pounds, but she was also extremely fit.  In fact, she could outrun many of the thinner people running on the treadmill at the gym.  Dante was a fun, and sexy character who supported Caitlyn, and really cared about her for who she was.  I enjoyed his flirting and witty lines, as well as how protective he was of Caitlyn.  The moment anyone said anything negative about her or towards her, he would put them in their place.  When Caitlyn and Dante finally came together, they had passion, chemistry, and sizzle.  Dante, "The Inferno," knew how to romance Caitlyn, and while he was at it, he romanced me.

There were a few of the aspects of the story that I did not enjoy.  The first half of the story felt too slow, and really dragged on for me.  I could relate to and understand Caitlyn's insecurities, but It came to a point where I felt like, enough was enough.  She came off as a bit whiny.  I read page after page of Caitlyn's negative thoughts about her body image, and got tired of it.  I also, needed to see more action in the story.  There was too much telling of the story, and not enough showing.  I found Caitlyn's thoughts, as well as her conversations with Dante, and her friends to be repetitive, in nature, and was hoping to see a change sooner than I did.  This story had a great message, and premise.  I just needed more.  I needed more action, more intensity, and more spark.  I also needed less repetitiveness, less complaining about her body image, less saying, and more doing!

Overall, Extreme Love was a good story.  Even though the first half was a bit slow, the second half picked up the pace substantially.  I enjoyed how the antagonist, Sentori (Dante's MMA opponent) brought excitement, conflict, and unexpected plot twists to the story.  He made things very interesting, and I could not stand the egotistical, malicious, and demented fighter!  My favorite aspect in this story was the message of self love, and the fact that Caitlyn was portrayed in a way were the typical woman can relate, and perhaps, even be inspired, and hopeful in the pursuit of happiness, and self-empowerment.

I give "Extreme Love," by Abby Niles 3 Stars!  This was a story that focused on self-esteem, body image, acceptance, and loving yourself for who you are, and not letting other people's negative opinions of you bring you down.  It's also about the courage to hold your head up high, leave your past fears behind, and embrace the future you want for yourself without letting anything or anyone stand in your way.  I enjoyed the message in this story, and feel that it was both a positive, as well as encouraging message.  Dante, "The Inferno," brought a lot of heat, romance, and swoon-worthy moments to this story.  I also learned about MMA fighting, and training, while reading, "Extreme Love," and always enjoy reading a story that teaches me something new.

"Dante fought a smile.  He'd help her find herself, and in the process, show her how beautiful she was through his eyes."  (EARC LOC, 1111)

"How easily the word girlfriend had come out of his mouth.  Not because he was trying to run off another man, but because Caitlyn brought forth a fierce need to protect he'd never felt for a woman before.  This was no longer about a challenge, but a woman who'd gotten under his skin.  She deserved to feel as beautiful as he saw her."  (EARC LOC, 1366)

"Do you know what's like to have a woman kiss you back 'cause she wants you, and not the idea of you?  It's fu*kin' hot, bro.  Irre-fu*kin'-sistible."  (EARC LOC, 1477)

"Just sex isn't what I'm after Caitlyn.  Been there, done that for years.  I ca  right now and find a line of womb who'd like to fu*k.  He stepped away from her.  Yes, I want your moans and kisses, but I also want more moments like we had in the truck, hand holding, laughing.  I want moe than fu*king...with you."  (EARC LOC, 1581)

"Sometimes you don't realize what you can live with until you've lost the one thing you can't live without."  (EARC LOC, 1606)

Ever since Abby Niles picked up her first Sweet Valley High book in sixth grade and fell in love with Elizabeth and Todd, she’s been hooked on romance. By the time she reached high school, she was devouring meatier romances with pirates, cowboys and knights. She never imagined that those years of reading would one day lead to her becoming a published author.

In her late twenties, after having twins and becoming a stay-at-home mom, she started doodling stories to keep her sanity. Next thing she knew, she was actually submitting to publishing houses. And was immediately rejected. That didn’t stop her though. She found herself some kickass critique partners, honed her craft, and continued submitting.

And eventually sold a short story, then a novella, then a novel, and now a series.

Today, she juggles work, home life, and writing. It’s not always easy, but hey, who said life was easy?
In her downtime, which isn’t often, you can find her playing ‘Just Dance’ with her kids or trying to catch up on her never-ending to-be-read list. She also loves Zumba, and refuses to admit she looks more like Animal doing his Muppet flail than a sensual Latin dancer.

His gaze landed on the chocolate-brown comforter with pink accents that covered her queen-sized mattress. His attention lingered there for a moment before he lifted his gaze to the shelves that held an assortment of her favorite books and movies. “What do you like to do, Caitlyn?”

How could a man come across so damned relaxed? Especially when she was wound so tight she felt ready to shatter any second.

“Do?” She actually squeaked her question.

“You know. Read? Watch movies? Shop?”

A conversation? The man walks into her room, disrupts her perfect little world, and he decides to have a conversation? “All of the above.”

Dante’s smile sent her heart into a frantic staccato. He moved closer, and she retreated until her butt touched the wall. Her breath came in short, erratic spurts. His gaze started at her legs and raked upward over her body. “I like all of the above, too.”

Ah! She liked that response. A little too much. Her heart pumped even faster. She had to escape.

As if reading her thoughts, Dante blocked her by bracing his arms against the wall on either side of her body.

She couldn’t swallow, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t do anything but stare into gorgeous blue eyes belonging to a gorgeous man. He leaned closer, his chest brushing against hers. Lord, she felt the strength of his body.

“So pretty.” He ran his fingers across her cheek.

The desire in his eyes confirmed his statement. Could this be real? Could this man truly want her? Everything he did screamed yes.

“W-why did you come in here?”

His fingers paused on her skin. “Isn’t it obvious? To be near you. Would you rather I leave?”

Yes. No. Hell, she didn’t know.

“Maybe,” she finally decided on.

“Maybe?” One masculine brow lifted. “A very indecisive answer. Maybe we should kiss and see if it helps you make a firm decision.”

She swallowed, a response completely lost to her. Flustered by her inability to come up with her own flirtatious, witty comeback, she felt greener than ever. “I think that would be a bad idea.”

“Give me one good reason why.”

She opened her mouth, but no reason emerged. Instead, she murmured, “Me and you...we don’t fit.”

“Oh, I think we’d fit very nicely together.”

Her mouth popped opened, shocked and alarmingly delighted by his words. “T-that’s not what I meant.” But now that he’d taken their conversation in that direction, it was all she could think of. She shook herself. “I meant we’re too different. We don’t have any chemistry.”

Amusement filled his eyes. “No chemistry, huh? I’ll have to disagree.” He placed his lips against her ear and whispered, “Do you remember when our eyes met in the mirror this morning? That punch of lust that socked us both? That’s chemistry, Caitlyn.”

Kindle Purchase

Gr’s Summary

Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table. She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.

Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.

But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgivable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness

The Way I See It

“Just breathe,” my mom would say.  "Ten tiny breaths...Seize them. Feel them. Love them.”

I don’t ever start my reviews with a quote, but boy oh boy, is this not a doozie!  Ten Tiny Breaths was SOOO GOOD!  After reading it, this story leaves an imprint on your heart!  I’m at a loss for words, I give high praise to K.A. Tucker!  I’ve wanted to read this for so long I was saving up all my pennies until I had enough for my kindle! ;)  (J/K but if I had to I would have without a doubt :)  This was our book club’s read for the month, and everyone just adored it, so I know you will too!

T-ragic, a split-second decision will alter many lives.
E-mpathy, a feeling that people have lost touch of.
N-auseating, a guardian that should provide protection, commits a heinous act.

T-urbulence, Kace is willing to face what ever it takes to ensure Livies’ safety.
I-nnocence almost lost, Livie would not have blossomed to her potential if it weren’t for Kace.
N-irvana, a feeling Kace never truly understood until Trent stepped into her life.
Y-outh wasted away, Kace grew up to become a guardian and protector of the last piece of her heart. (Livie)

B-old, sisters decide to face the world alone, but together.
R-epercussions, laws broken, and confidences ignored. Trent is willing to sacrifice all, to see his goals achieved.
E-ffort, Trent will stop at nothing to ensure Kace’s happiness.
A-dmirable, the hurt and pain Trent experiences doesn’t go unnoticed.
T-rent, loving and strong, he is the anchor that will root Kace’s heart.
H-earts, two are broken, and it will take these two to come together for both to mend.
S-urviving, it seems this is all they have been doing, upon finally breathing it seems like their lives may begin. Stronger and better, together.

This book will keep your interest from beginning to end page after page.  Even though Kace has lost almost everything, life has given her a second chance.  Livie is truly an angel, her angel.  If it weren’t for Livie’s love, and support, I don’t doubt that Kace would have lasted very long.  I wanted to murder their rotten uncle, and shake their dumb aunt for being a dumb cow!  UGH!!  It’s like...  "WAKE UP LADY!"  That guy your married to is a sleaze bag, GROSS!”  I’m glad they got what they deserved in the end. ;)  Let me take this moment to talk about my insta-love for Storm, from the first moment, I was all in on these two ladies. Nothing on the planet can compare to a true friend.  That type of love is precious and priceless...I was happy that Kace found Storm and vice versa. Trent, wow... Hold on, I need a moment... Okay, he is purrrrrfect!!  Or so it seems!  I won’t get into it, but I will have y’all know, he is perfect.To.Me.  Every aspect of the book was great...All the characters were amazing, even though some didn’t play very big roles, I felt like I got to know all of them very well.  Does that make sense? The ending OMG!!  I wouldn’t change a thing.  It was perfect!!  Unicorns you say?  I love UNICORNS I say!  My point?  Read.This.Book.

My Fav’s

Kace
Was a sure fire bet to make my fav’s.  Everyone knows how much I love a girl that kicks butt, and Kace fits the bill.  She feels as though she has lost everyone, but Livie, her angel, and she will do anything to keep her safe. Even though Kace kicks butt, she still has a heart and without noticing lets the most unexpected people in.  I really enjoyed her relationship with Storm growing, and Storm was exactly what Kace needed at the time. Once Kace realized how she felt about Storm, she decides there is nothing she wouldn’t do for her.  It was a special treat to watch Kace heal,  and I’m glad I was able to.

Trent
What an amazing guy!! I cant do a whole lot of explaining, why I love him so much, with out revealing spoilers, but I will say this I support him one hundred percent!

My Rating

4.5 Dropped Quarter, Everglade sunset, Sand bag, Michigan U, Champagne toast, Deep Breath filled stars!! Everyone needs to read this book it is great!!

Of Silver and Beasts Book Blitz

***Excerpt***
“What’s your rank, baby blue eyes?” the guy asks, pushing off his cot and stalking toward the prince. Everything in me screams to act, but I don’t want to declare alliances this early on. Not without understanding the dynamic of placements and bonds already formed among these people. But I’ll not let this hulk of a man harm the prince. I brace my heel against the wall, ready to push off and lunge. Prince Caben rises to his feet, slowly turning to face him. He straightens his spine, squaring his shoulders. “I don’t have one. And my name is Payne. Not ‘baby blue eyes’, meathead.” Big guy laughs, his husky voice bounces off the rock walls. “I’m Crew”—he beats his chest hard once, like a barbarian—“and I’ve won three fights. I’ll win the next two and be the one awarded the freedom ring.” He leans down toward Prince Caben, leveling their faces. “So don’t even think about you or your princess over there walking out of here. I’m ranked as a Colossal. The strongest Colossal in Bax’s league.” Princess? I nearly scoff. Then I realize what the problem with Crew is: he feels threatened by Prince Caben. That revelation almost makes me laugh out right. What does a big stack of muscles like Crew have to fear from the prince? The other prisons slowly circle around the stand-off in the center of the cell. Tension thickens the musty air. It coils around my spine, tightening my muscles. If I allow the fight to continue without interruption, will the guards stop it? They’d want their fighters in pristine shape, wouldn’t they? Prince Caben doesn’t back away from Crew. Instead, he moves into his space. I roll my eyes. Stupid, conceited man. “Freedom ring?” the prince questions. “As in, there’s a chance to leave?” He rubs his chin, and I notice the dark shadow of facial hair that has darkened his features overnight. “Is there a season that has to be won, or can someone gain five wins during their entire imprisonment?” Crew’s eyebrows pinch together. He’s clearly despondent that he hasn’t succeeded in intimidating the prince. “We’re in a season right now, you weakling. If you don’t win—you’re dead. Which by the looks of you, will happen in your first match.” Prince Caben nods, as if he’s simply piecing together a jigsaw puzzle and not being told of his demise. “What is the cuff for?” He points to the iron clamp around Crew’s wrist. “It’s our biometric monitor.” Crew shoves the cuff up close to the prince’s face. “See those three blue lights? Those are my wins. When the fifth lights up, I’m outta’ here.” “Has anyone ever won the freedom ring before?” Prince Caben asks. Crew’s massive arms tremble. “No,” he grinds out. “But I will.” He cocks his cuffed hand back, then sends a blow to Prince Caben’s chin. Hell. I’m up and racing across the cell before the prince hits the ground. Crew spots me from his peripheral. He turns and swipes the air. I duck, roll, and come up behind him. I jump on the cot and leap onto his back. “You squirrely little ...” he mumbles, trying to reach over his shoulders to get a hold on me. Tightening my arms around his thick neck, I squeeze. He gasps for air, and rams my back into the wall. I wheeze as the air whooshes from my lungs, pain splintering through my already bruised chest. But I hold tight, bearing down harder, and cut off his supply of oxygen. Finally, I feel Crew weaken beneath my hold. He drops to his knees, and I only release him once I’m sure he’s knocked out. Stepping around the now limp Crew, I glance at all the wide eyes studying me, and meet the prince’s. Fury ignites his stormy blue irises. He picks himself off the floor and heads toward one of the side chambers, throwing the tattered material aside as he stalks inside. I follow after him. When I step inside the tiny, dank room, my eyes trail Prince Caben as he paces. He reaches each side of the small chamber with three quick strides. Back and forth. On his third round, I open my mouth and get out a single syllable before he holds up a hand, halting me. He drives his hand through his dark hair. “Thank you for making me look like a spineless jerk.” He shakes his head and faces me. Taken aback, I say, “This is my duty to protect—” “No. In your country it was your duty to guard me. In my world and here”—he opens his arms wide—“a man fights his own battles. He does not depend on a woman to fight them for him. You just disgraced me.” Fire simmers in my core. “I’m still assigned as your protector no matter what realm we inhabit, Your High—” I stop myself before addressing him by title out of habit. “Your pride is polluting your reasoning.” He laughs. “Yes, well. Thanks to your show out there, I no longer have my pride to worry about.”

GR's Summary:

Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster.  Can you love someone too much?  Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died:  Love hard.  Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence.  But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides.  In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say.  Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’ eyes.

Lindy's Take

Walking Disaster, for the most part is the same story as Beautiful Disaster, just told through Travis' point of view, instead of Abby's point of view this time.  One of the reasons why I enjoyed reading Travis' point of view was because a few of the gaps were filled in for me in the story.  We got to see a small glimpse into what Travis' mother was like, how much she loved Trav, how close he was to his mom, and how she really was the glue that held their family together.  The beginning of the story had me an emotional mess.  I was crying, and my heart just broke for what the whole family had to go through with the loss of their mother/wife.  After her passing, the whole family was lost, in so much pain, and had trouble moving forward in their lives.  So just that little glimpse made me see how the family was before, and then after her passing, which we didn't get to see in Beautiful Disaster.  Also, I got to see a lot more of Travis' brothers, Thomas (the eldest), Trenton (closest to Travis), the twins, Taylor, and Tyler, and Travis' father, Jim.  It was one thing to hear about how close they were in Beautiful Disaster, but a whole new take to get to see how close Travis was to his brothers', and father.  Trent was my favorite brother.  He was always there for Travis, when Travis needed him most.  Trent would call to check-up on Travis, would take him to the bar for drinks as a source of distraction, was a good listener, was the only one who could force Travis to leave the house when he was in a deep depression, and would drive Travis home when he was drunk.  We also got to meet the girl that Trent was interested in, for 2 small scenes, and I'm really looking forward to reading Trent's story next.  Thomas, was the serious, and overprotective older brother. His mother made him promise to look after his younger brothers' and father when she passed.  He kept that promise, grew up too fast, and was more like a second father figure to his brothers.

Another reason I enjoyed reading Walking Disaster, was because I liked getting inside Travis' head, and by being exposed to Travis' thoughts, and emotions, I was able to understand his actions more.  In Beautiful Disaster, Travis appeared to have major anger issues, jealousy, and possessiveness.  However, in Walking Disaster, I was able to come to the realization that Travis really was trying to control his anger, and understood a little more that the reason he would get so angry at times was because he was privy to rumors and other information that he didn't share with Abby, that would make his anger come out full-force.  Also, he was insecure, desperate, and really loved Abby, but was always scared that if he did or said the wrong thing, Abby would leave him for good.  Little did Abby know, but she gave Travis something back that he had lost, when his mother had died, at such a young age.  Abby gave Travis a sense of belonging, loving, caring, and the feeling of "home."  With Abby, he had finally found a woman worth fighting for, and he knew that his mother would have loved her, and been proud of him for keeping his promise.

I enjoyed re-reading the plot, and getting to revisit one of my favorite books.  The story started out at a good pace, the middle slowed down a bit and got a little tiring with so much arguing back and forth.  Also, Abby irritated me more in this version of the story, because I felt like she was too hard on Travis at times, was too stubborn, and kept putting her walls up, when she should have tried to work things out with him.  For being so in love with Travis, it frustrated me that she would leave him without trying to talk things through, and he always had to beg her to come back to him.  America and Shep were good friends to Abby and Travis, and I enjoyed revisiting them, and their relationship with the main characters, as well as one another.  However, my favorite parts to revisit were the hot, and sexy drool-worthy scenes between Abby and Travis!  Talk about needing to fan yourself off to cool down!  Plus, my heart got to melt all over again every time Travis would tell Abby how he felt about her, or thought about what she meant to him!  There were a lot of moments that I would go "Aww, that's why I loved Beautiful Disaster!"   I thought the ending was really fast-paced, and it was my favorite part of the book.  Who doesn't love a Happily Ever After?

After finishing Walking Disaster, I'm left satisfied with the closure that I feel from getting exposed to meeting Travis' mother, learning more about his brothers, father, and getting a more well-rounded view of Travis as a whole.  I am stoked to get to read each of Travis' brothers own story, and look forward to not having to completely close the door on Travis and Abby.  By the end of the story, I was able to see the huge character growth that both Travis and Abby made individually, and in their relationship. The ending was bittersweet for me, as I had to say goodbye for now to Travis and Abby, because at least I got to see how everything ended, and can hope that I will see them again when I read all of the Maddox brothers' stories.  Yes, I said when, not if, because, Thomas, Trent, Taylor, and Tyler's stories have just been officially added to my auto-buy list!

My Favorite Quotes

"One of these days you're going to fall in love, son.  Don't settle for just anyone.  Choose the girl that doesn't come easy;  the one you have to fight for, and then never stop fighting.  Never-she took a deep breath-stop fighting for what you want." (EARC, Loc. 71)

"Maybe it was just me.  Maybe it was just me and her. Maybe together we were this volatile entity that would either implode or meld together.  Either way, it seemed the moment I met her, my life had been turned upside down. And I didn't want it any other way." (EARC, Loc. 2639)

"Even though we'd put each other through hell, we'd found heaven. Maybe that was more than a couple of sinners deserved, but I wasn't going to complain." (EARC, Loc. 4459)

My Rating

I give Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire a Sizzling, Swoon-Worthy, Sexy, Sensational 5 Stars!  If you want more Travis, and to see into the window of his soul, including his thoughts, emotions, and fears, read this story!  If you don't mind reading the retelling of Beautiful Disaster, but through Travis' point of view, and therefore, containing all of Travis' intensity, emotion, and way of life, this is a great read that will have you escaping back into Travis and Abby's roller-coaster relationship, full of constant ups, downs, twists, and turns!  Walking Disaster is one ride you don't want to miss!

Wow, it was so nice to see through Travis’s eyes! I highly highly recommend Walking disaster! Your probably going to see that a few more times, lol! Sorry y’all I can’t help it WD is a beautiful enhancer ;) Keep in mind this is Travis, its going to be gritty and a little crude. He’s not a poet y’all he’s a friggin fighter!! The supporting cast is amazing! Shep, Mare, Trent, Tommy, Jim, even Parker everyone played their part and I fell in love with all of them!

My Fav’s

Abby
There’s something about her that Travis needs, he finds out later all he needs is her. She is so strong, she might be petite but this girl knows how to hustle a room. Abby can outwit you at a poker table with the smile of an Angel. Lucky 13. Totally wicked. I love her because she’s smart and loves with her whole heart.

Travis
Well, Ahem, Ahem, lets see aside from being one of the sexiest characters EVER written he’s passionate. He loves with such ferocity its awe striking, its inspiring, HE’S MESMERIZING! Travis is a little broken and empty all he needs is his pigeon, once he finds her he will fight. Travis will never stop fighting for the peace Abby brings him. He breaths to be near her, she is his light in the dark that has become his life. *sigh*

Ro's Take

I loved Abby's point of view in Beautiful Disaster, and then I read Travis's point of view in Walking disaster, and I fell in love with the book, and him, all over again.  This was a story I wasn't sure I wanted to read again, but I am so glad I did.  Right from the first chapter of the book, it was devastatingly sad.   In this version, the reader is privy to the family's last moments with their mother, and wife, as she is passing.  The reader lives it through Travis' eyes.  I was sobbing, and there was no end in sight.

I loved the fact that a lot of holes were filled in from the first version of this novel.  The reader thinks they're reading the whole story in, Beautiful Disaster, but when you read Travis' version in, Walking Disaster, you can see why he was the way he was, and understand his reasons for his disconnection with everyone he comes in contact with.  I felt so much compassion in this version for Travis. He was very reflective in this book, which made the reader see his romantic side, the little nuances, and his vulnerability.  Though, a few times during the book, I wanted to scream at him not to let anyone break him to the point of groveling.  He wanted what he felt was his, and he was overly obsessive.  This was a book filled with obstacles, twists, turns, and misunderstandings.  These two characters had to go through a lot of hoops to learn how to understand each other.  This is a love story worth reading, with secondary characters that made this novel amazing, and complete.  The tenderness that Ms. McGuire shares about her characters, is swoon worthy. There are wonderful scenes that don't even have sex in them, that are sweet, magical, and sensitive, and the reader gets goose bumps.  She creates the kind of man that every woman is looking for.  A man that worships the ground his woman walks on, showers her with love, and flowers, opens doors, defends her honor to the ends of the earth, eats her up with one hungry, longing look.   This book is worth it's weight in gold!  I for one, loved it!!!  The close relationship that Travis has with his father and brothers, their deeply intense abiding love and fierce loyalty for one another is memorable.  They all share the same hurt and sadness, but still try to deal each in a different way.   Yet, each is always there for the other when they need it.

I loved the fact that this story went full circle.  There are no cliff hangers!  The development of each character is apparent, and the growth evolves at a moderate to fast pace throughout the novel. This book has violence, mafia, drugs, sex, depression, and, gambling.  Every bit of it is necessary to the progression of the story.

Happy Reading followers...this is a must read.  I give Walking Disaster 5-Intense-Filled, HeartBreaking, Fiery, Breathlessly -Explosive-Love-Struck-Stars!!!
