My Thoughts:

Wow.  I just finished Beautiful Oblivion, and I need to say that Trent Maddox's story has blown all of my expectations out of the water!  To say it surpassed every hope I had for this book, would be putting it mildly.  Ladies, nobody loves as fiercely, loyally, and with complete and utter devotion as these Maddox Brother's!  From the moment I began Trent's story, I was addicted.  I tried to turn the pages slowly, and savor each and every word, but it was so phenomenal, that I lacked the self-control.  When I came to the last page, I was so sad, because I didn't want the story to end, and I found myself going back and rereading pages.  One thing you should know about me, is that I do not like to reread books.  When I finish a story, I am done.  Well, guess what I plan on doing?!!!  I will be rereading Beautiful Oblivion, and it has earned a coveted spot on my favorite's shelf.  Not only that, I will be buying the finished ebook, and finished copy for my home library.  Also, if Beautiful Oblivion comes in audiobook, I will be buying that too!

Beautiful Oblivion is a spinoff of the Beautiful Series, and is Travis' brother, Trent's story.  In this story we get to watch Trent fall head over heels in love with a bartender by the name of, Cami.  We get new characters, which happen to be Trent and Cami's coworkers and friends, as well as a reunion with our beloved Travis, Abby, Shepley, and America.

Now let me explain the many reasons that I fell in love with Beautiful Oblivion.  The very top reason was the main characters, Trent and Cami!  Ms. McGuire created an amazing character in Trent.  He was an extremely likable character, and was always taking care of others.  He lived with his father, helped with bills, and watched out for him.  He was always there for Travis, and was the sweetest guy you could ever meet.  He looked out for the little neighbor next door, Olive, and was there for her as a surrogate brother, as she had lost her own, and missed him dearly.  Cami was strong, resilient, hardworking, giving, and loyal.  She hadn't had the best childhood, and her family was dysfunctional at best, yet she loved her mother, cousin, and three brothers fiercely.  Trent and Cami's characters were both well developed, and felt like real people.  I loved the authenticity with which they were created, and came to care about both of them deeply.  

The plot of Beautiful Oblivion was excellent.  It was fast-paced, and addictive.  Once it pulled me in, I had no hope of putting the book down, until I had finished.  All along we know that Cami has a secret that she can not reveal to Trent, yet if you're anything like me, it will keep you turning pages like a crazy person, and coming up with all sorts of theories.  When the secret was revealed, my mouth was literally hanging open, because I was in complete and utter shock!  I loved Cami and Trent together.  Cami didn't want to let Trent in to her life, but he was persistent, and didn't take no for an answer.  Sound familiar, right?  I'm thinking this is a Maddox brother trait.  I loved how once he pushed his way in to her life, they developed a strong friendship first, and their romance was a very intense, slow burn.  The whole time I was rooting for these two, and you will be too!

My Rating:

I cannot recommend, Beautiful Oblivion enough!  This story was very special, and I loved how events and the time frame in the story coordinated with the Beautiful Series.  Ms. McGuire has done it again!  I have no doubt that the Maddox Brothers Series, will be every bit as popular, and well loved as the Beautiful series!  I give, Beautiful Oblivion, by Jamie McGuire, 5 Adoring, Devoted, Romantic, "Where's my Maddox Brother?" Filled Stars!  All of you romance readers need to read Beautiful Oblivion!  Nobody does romance like a Maddox man!

We absolutely loved Beautiful Disaster and we can't wait to read about Trenton's story. We got to see a bit more of the Maddox brothers in Walking Disaster and they stole our hearts. We are ready for this series!!! Bring it!!!!
Ps Ria is not the biggest fan of this cover compared to the Beautiful Disaster covers she finds this one slightly lacking...Though Peacocks and Owls are on her Fav's list(so its not that, hm not sure what it is)...anyway Her commitment to all things Maddox still has her jumping up and down for this!!

My Thoughts:

Red Hill by Jamie McGuire was an eerily creepy, fast-paced, and fascinating read.  I have read Ms. McGuire's Beautiful Series, and it was one of my absolute favorite New Adult Series'.  Red Hill is completely different in every way possible from the Beautiful series, with the exception of Ms. McGuire's amazing writing.  Even though I was looking forward to and expecting it to have a lot of romance, there was in fact very little.  The few love scenes that it did have were very brief and not explicit in nature.  

Red Hill is told from the various viewpoints of Scarlet, a mother searching for her two children, Nathan, a single father, and Miranda, a college student.  In each view point, we are introduced to even more characters, and initially I was worried that too many characters would not give the story enough depth and that I would have trouble remembering everyone introduced.  However, I am happy to say, that Ms. McGuire seamlessly wrote each viewpoint into the story to intersect at various points, and then, at one point, all of the main characters came together.  I had no problem keeping track of the characters or plot and admire the fact that Ms. McGuire could write such an intricate story, with well developed main characters and a plot line that constantly kept my attention with all of the plot twists and surprises.  

I am a huge fan of post apocalyptic stories.  I enjoy zombie stories, but they have to seem realistic and not be overly dramatic or cheesy.  I would have liked a little more of a background explanation and details about how the "walking dead" came about.  However, from the very beginning of the story, I found myself completely drawn in.  I loved most of the characters.  Scarlet was such an independent, strong, caring, and compassionate woman.  I connected with her plight as a mother, in need to make sure that her children were safe.  Nathan was a gentle soul.  He was such an amazing father and I loved how devoted he was to his little girl, Zoe.  It was hinted that his daughter had special needs and he was so patient and loving with her.  His wife was such a horrible and selfish woman that didn't deserve him.  At the beginning of the story he seemed dejected and broken down, but I loved watching him grow as a happier and more assertive character. His brother in law, Skeeter, was one tough and loyal guy.  He loved with all of his heart, and would do anything to protect those that he loved, as well as anyone in need.

Miranda and her long term boyfriend Bryce, as well as her younger sister, Ashley and her boyfriend Cooper, were on there way to spend the weekend with their father at Red Hill when the epidemic hit.  Miranda was a strong character and Bryce was such a good guy.  However, Ashley irritated me throughout most of the story, because she was self-centered and was constantly whining or complaining about something.  Along the way, they picked up Joey, a young man just out of the military.  He was a real asset to the team and I loved his character.  I loved seeing all of these characters connect with one another.  It was interesting seeing how Ms. McGuire had all of their lives intersect and converge.  The post apocalypse affected everyone in different ways.  Relationships changed, characters grew from their hardships, team work was essential, and through it all, one constant remained; hope for a better and brighter future.  

My Rating:

If you are in the mood for an entertaining, suspenseful, and action packed story filled with horror and surprises, read, Red Hill, by Jamie McGuire!  The ending of the story shocked me!  I'm so happy that this story was not predictable, nor did it feel contrived or convenient.  It was fast paced, and was eerily realistic, and as I imagine the end of the world would be like.  Ms. McGuire captured and portrayed the constant fear, survival instinct, and everyday challenges, that her characters faced on a daily basis.  As a mother, I was able to relate to the constant fear and pain that Scarlet faced dealing with the fact that she did not know if her children were dead or alive, as well as what Nathan faced, trying to protect his young daughter Zoe.  This story would make an excellent movie for the big screen.  I give, Red Hill, by Jamie McGuire, 4 Fast Paced, Horror-Filled, Surprising, On the Edge of Your Seat Stars!  If you enjoy books from the Post-Apocalyptic Genre, read this one!!!!

My Thoughts:

I am a huge fan of Jamie McGuire's Beautiful Series, and completely devoured Beautiful Disaster, and Walking Disaster.  A Beautiful Wedding has been on my wish list since I heard that Ms. McGuire was coming out with all the details of Abby and Travis' elopement.  I had very high expectations for this story, and I was not one bit disappointed!

Reading Beautiful Wedding, felt like a reunion of sorts.  I have missed Abby and Travis, and to say that I was overjoyed, excited, and ecstatic to read this book would be an understatement!  Ms. McGuire is a phenomenal author, and we are rewarded by her talent in this amazing story.  I thought that it would feel like a short story, being under 200 pages long.  However, it was well developed, and felt complete.  I didn't feel like the story was rushed in any way, and was very satisfied with the ending. 

In this installment of the series, I was reminded of why I love Abby and Travis so much.  Abby showed us how deep and selfless her love for Travis is; her loyalty, and strength.  She continues to amaze me.  Travis shows us the man he has evolved into ever since he fell in love with Abby.  He is tender, compassionate, and devoted.  Together, these two have a beautiful and very real love.  A love that is eternal; filled with passion, and steamy sexiness.  This story not only stays true to the essence of Travis and Abby's characters, but solidifies all we have come to learn about them.  Beautiful Wedding will make you swoon, as butterflies flap like crazy in your stomach, tear up at many touching moments, and create a beautiful memory of two beloved characters, and a very touching installment to the ending of an epic series.

My Rating:

Beautiful Wedding by Jamie McGuire was a wonderful addition to the Beautiful Series!  The story completely captivated me, and filled me with sentimentality and nostalgia for the beautiful ending to one of my absolute favorite series.  Trust me, you will want to read this book and learn all about Abby and Travis' wedding, and happily ever after.  We also get to encounter all of our favorite characters from this series, and boy did I ever miss Shepley, America, and The Maddox family!  

As Ms. McGuire is about to embark on a new journey of telling us the stories of the Maddox Brothers, Thomas, Taylor, Tyler, and Trent.  I am sad to say goodbye to Travis and Abby's love story, but am excited for a new chapter to begin.  I give Beautiful Wedding, by Jamie McGuire, 5 Beautiful, Touching, Passionate, and Unforgettable Stars!
