GR's Summary:

A gripping standalone adult contemporary romance about finding yourself while taking a second chance at your first love…

Dakota Nakos was always the resilient, strong-willed achiever. But when her father dies and she’s entrusted with the family’s casino, she feels vulnerable, scared, and more than a little emotional —not exactly the best time to see an old lover she’s never really gotten over.

Dakota once meant the world to Shane Garrity. Then suddenly he left town to train as a U.S. Marshal, and their love for each other crashed into a memory. Now he’s come home for her father’s funeral, and one look at the girl he left behind stirs up both memories and regrets, and reignites a fire he feared he’d lost forever.

Dakota may be the same driven girl she always was, but she’s also changed in ways neither could have anticipated. She’s not just a young woman searching for own identity in the Native American community in which she was raised, but one questioning her new life outside her father’s shadow. Above all she wonders if Shane can push past her weakened defenses to rekindle what they once had, or whether the intense blaze between them will ultimately reduce her heart to ashes.

Lindy's Thoughts:

I enjoy all of the books that Ms. Lee has written.  Her Between Breaths Series is one of my favorite in the New Adult Genre.  Imagine my surprise and utter excitement when I discovered that Kai and Rachel from, Whisper to Me, were in this story!  While Two of Hearts is a standalone novel, I was giddy over the fact that two of my favorite characters from one of her previous books had crossed over!

In Two of Hearts, we get Dakota Nakos and Shane Garrity's story told from both of their view points.  Dakota is shocked and devastated my the tragic murder of her father, Linden Nakos.  He was supposedly robbed and killed for the money in his pocket, but there are no current suspects.

Dakota and Shane had a love affair when they were in college.  Unfortunately, due to poor communication, their relationship did not work out.  Even though their relationship ended five years ago, they both never stopped having feelings for one another, and everyone that entered their lives romantically afterwards, didn't compare.

With Mr. Nakos' funeral, Shane (Kai's best friend) returns to town.  As a federal Marshall, he suspects foul play as far as Mr. Nakos' death is concerned.  Mr. Nakos, a full blooded Indian, use to own the Golden Arrow Casino.  His wife, a Dutch woman, inherits the casino upon his death.  The Native American reservation is up in arms, and are pressuring her to sell the casino to another Native American.  They believe that because she doesn't have Native American blood, she will not have the best interests of their people in mind.

Emotions flair and tempers escalate on the Indian reservation, leading to poor employer/employee relations, daily picketers, intimidation tactics to sell, and danger.  Shane decides to stay in town for a while, so that he can protect the Nakos family, look into the death of Mr. Nakos, and have a second chance with the only woman that he's ever loved.

Two of Hearts was chock full of drama, suspense, romance, friendship, community, passion, and most importantly, love.  I enjoy the second chance at romance trope and was rooting for Dakota and Shane to make their relationship work this time.  Dakota frustrated me at times, because I felt like her communication skills were lacking.  She had a tendency to make assumptions, and poor Shane, had his work cut out for him.  The chemistry and intensity between these two was abundant, intense, and explosive.  The bedroom scenes between Dakota and Shane were H-O-T!!!  There were plenty of scenes in the story that included Rachel and Kai as well!  I was so happy to be reunited with these two characters, and catch up on the current status of their lives.  One conclusion that I have come to after reading, Two of Hearts is, that if Ms. Lee writes a story, I will read it!

My Rating:

I give, Two of Hearts, by Christina Lee, 4 Second Chance at Love, Passionate Inferno, Suspense Filled Stars!  Yay, we have another story in the win column for Ms. Lee!

My Favorite Quote:

"I wanted you so damn bad, I had the taste of you, the smell of you, the feel of you on my skin for years.  Only you.  Nobody else even came close."

~Shane Garrity

Ro's Take on this Journey:

I think, Two of Hearts, by Christina Lee, is a wonderfully climatic story!  Not only do the readers get a hot love story about two stubborn, insightful people, but they also get a history lesson about how the Native American Tribal negotiations work, in dual perspective. This was a story filled with suspense, intrigue, secrets, deceit, and one dazzlingly sexy couple!!!

The story begins with the funeral of Linden Nakos, a staunch Native American, pillar of the community, and humanitarian, who was always part of preserving Native Americans' rights and land.  Linden was the creator and owner of the The Golden Arrow Casino.  The Casino is on Indian soil, and his wife and daughter must answer to the Native American Council, after the murder of Linden, who died under suspicious circumstances.  Linden is survived by his Dutch wife, his daughter Dakota (who he groomed to run his casino,) and his son Kai, (who wants nothing to do with family business,) and Kai's wife, (and Dakota's best friend,) Rachel.

At the services, Dakota is brought face to face with Kai's best friend, Shane, now a U.S. Marshal, who is also her ex-boyfriend.  The two of them were too stubborn to tell the other how they felt 5 years ago, and because of the lack of communication, each walked away from the love of their lives.  Now, Shane has come to give his condolences to the family he was brought up with, be there for the woman he has always loved, his friend, and ultimately, find the man who committed the murder of a man he considered a second father.

The characters in this novel were multi-faceted and phenomenal.  I loved the setting, descriptions, the wonderful love scenes, and the suspense behind the, who done it.  Ms. Lee has given us some history of the Native Americans, how they operate, who they answer to, and what happens when things are not done by protocol.  This was an amazing journey, and I can't wait to see if we will have more to come.  I couldn't get enough of Dakota and Shane.  I loved how they evolved, were raw, forgiving, and vulnerable, as they grew together.

In this story we get a side story about Kai and Rachel, which was sad and eye opening.  We also meet Stuart, Linden's right hand man/best friend. We get big business, manipulation, greed, intentional picketing, unrest, betrayal, fear and pride.  The reader also see's the lengths that people will go to when they are left off balance, even though they have known someone most of their lives. Fear will do funny things to people...  Don't miss out on this fascinating ride!

My Rating:

I give Two of Hearts, by Christina Lee, 4.5 Sad, Evolving, Mysterious, Sexy, Eye Opening, Ritualistic Stars!!!

My Favorite Quotes:

"He'll always be around.  In the sound of the wind, the melody of the crickets, and the brilliance of the sunset."

~Stuart

"She melted against my chest, her arms draping around my neck, and right then I Knew that I was completely gone for this woman.  My emotions were intense and raw and so completely overpowering, it was a wonder that I could even hold myself in check.  It was like nothing I'd ever experienced before in my entire life."

GR's Summary:

From the author of All of You and Before You Break comes a new Between Breaths male/male standalone romance about the silent, inked up skateboarder and the tattoo artist who unravels him piece by piece…

Tattoo artist Cory Easton has worked long enough at Raw Ink to know, just by looking at a dude, what his body art reveals, what makes him tick, what even makes him scared. Until he meets the quiet and remote Jude York—so unreadable, so unreachable, and so unlike anyone else, he can’t help but arouse Cory’s curiosity.

As captivating and complex as his ink, Jude is a mystery—and Cory’s falling fast and hard under his spell. Against his better judgment to steer clear.

The rumors of Jude’s past overshadow him—whispers of prison and an unmentionable secret that’s kept him in the protective shadows of a local motorcycle club. As Cory probes deeper, he wonders how much he really wants to know. Especially since Jude has awakened something inside him that has been buried too long—and has him feeling completely alive for the first time in forever…

My Thoughts:

The Between Breaths Series is such a great New Adult Romantic Series.  I would recommend all of these books.  They are entertaining, fast-paced, have just the right amount of angst and light heartedness, depth, and excellent fully developed characters.  I have been a fan of Corey Easton's, since I was first introduced to him.  I am so happy that he finally got his own story!

Corey works at Raw Ink and has a passion for his career as a tattoo artist.  While his closest friends are his co-workers, he is still lonely.  The only living relative that he has left is his Grandma, and he is really close to her.  He's had a rough road as far as relationships are concerned, and is tired of one night stands.

Corey  notices the uber sexy, gorgeous, newcomer Jude York right away.  He constantly runs in to Jude in his small town.  Jude is a talented skater.  He is very shy, mysterious, and a man of few words.  Cory is pretty sure that Jude is straight, but he can't help but crush on him.  When Jude makes appointments for Corey to give him a large tattoo over several sessions, they start to get to know one another better, sparks fly, and feelings grow.  However, there are rumors surrounding Jude being connected to a local MC, and being dangerous.  What is Jude hiding, and can Corey trust him with his heart?

The beginning of There You Stand was slow moving.  Initially, I had trouble connecting with Jude, because I was getting frustrated about how he avoided answering Corey's questions.  It drove me crazy.  I thought a dual perspective would have worked better, so that I could get in to Jude's head, and know what he was thinking.  Then, I realized why Ms. Lee wrote the story the way she did.  The revelations and plot twists would not have worked as well with both perspectives.  About a third of the way in to the story, and the pace picked up!  Then, the story flew by!

I loved learning about Jude little by little.  The slow-building friendship and romance between Corey and Jude made everything so much more believable, special, and intense.  The sex scenes were very detailed, and frequent once they began.  However, there was a lot of emphasis on emotional intimacy, trust, and Jude and Corey opening up and taking a chance on love as well.

Dog lovers will really enjoy this book.  We get to learn about Corey's dogs antics, especially, Chopper!  Grandma was a great character.  I cherished the scenes where Corey spent time with her, and then introduced her to Jude.  They had such a strong, and loving bond, which reminded me of the way I am with my grandparents.

My Rating:

I give, There You Stand, by Christina Lee, 4 Mysterious Crush, Rich Romance, A Beautiful Love Filled Stars!  This was another great addition to the Between Breaths Series and an outstanding M/M romance!

BENEATH YOUR LAYERS by Christina Lee

In order to ace her fashion internship, Chloe must team up with local college dropout and set builder, Blake—much to her chagrin. But after some "hands-on" experience, Chloe will have to ask herself if Blake factors into her carefully laid plans…

My Thoughts:

When I saw that an anthology was coming out with so many amazing New Adult Romance Authors, I had to read it!  I love these authors and have read many of their books!   So, I was pretty much guaranteed an amazing anthology!  I'm happy to say that they delivered an entertaining, fun, and swoon-worthy anthology!

In When We Met, we meet Misha, Indy, Courtney and Chloe, four college roommates and close friends.  They are all attending the same college in Michigan.  Misha and Indy are both dealing with broken hearts, humiliation, and angst over two guys that they though cared about them.  Misha though Hunter had strong feelings for her, but he took her virginity, and used her in the worst way possible.  He recorded them having sex, and showed it off to all of his friends.  So when Misha meets Darryn, a gorgeous and arrogant neighbor of hers, she doesn't know if she can trust him.  Darryn feels protective of Mish and is determined to prove that he is nothing like Hunter.

Indy was with her boyfriend for two years, until the day she came home early from a visit with her family, and caught him in bed with someone else.  To top it off he is now engaged to the other girl, who is pregnant with his child.  Indy decides to party her troubles away by drinking herself in to oblivion.  Kier, takes care of her and puts her to bed after each drunken episode, but she never remembers him the next day.  He's harbored feelings for Indy for a year and a half, but will she ever get over her ex-boyfriend?

Courtney and Chloe work crazy hours at their jobs.  Courtney is surprised when she runs in to Dalton, her childhood best friend and crush. He is the head star of their school's basketball team, and will most likely go pro.  Courtney thinks he abandoned their friendship many years ago, and that he's arrogant and a womanizer.  Dalton doesn't understand Courtney's animosity towards him, and has nothing but great memories of their friendship.  He plans on proving to Courtney that he is not what she thinks he is, but will she gave him a chance?

Chloe works hard at her job/internship in a clothing store, and loves her boss Jaclyn.  However, she can't say the same for the bosses gorgeous, yet frustrating and rude nephew, Blake.  Then Jaclyn pairs Chloe and Blake together for a project.  Blake thinks Chloe is uptight, and pretentious, but as these two get to know each other they realize that their perceptions of one another were wrong.  Both Chloe and Blake are bogged down with responsibilities.  Will their new found understanding of one another lead to something more?

Each of these stories was written with each authors unique writing style, and yet they all blended well to make a great anthology.  The first two stories had more angst, and were about healing, finding strength, and new beginnings.  The second two stories were lighter, had to do with misunderstanding, and making false judgements and assumptions.  All four stories were about coming of age, growing up, learning from mistakes, and becoming your own person.  They all had romance, steamy love scenes, and made me swoon!

My Rating:

When We Met was fast-paced and an addicting read.  I thoroughly enjoyed all four stories in this romance anthology and would highly recommend it.  I give, When We Met, by A.L. Jackson, Molly McAdams, Tiffany King, and Christina Lee, 4.5  Healing from Heartbreak, Strength, Growing Up, and Finding Love Filled Stars!!!

Never mind that Rachel’s ex is also back, groveling for her forgiveness.

Shaken by her ex’s return, Rachel finds herself turning to the one guy she knows she can trust. Now that Kai has had a taste of Rachel, he’s willing to do anything just to have her touch him again, even hiding his true feelings. After all, she only wants a temporary fling. Until it becomes something more. But perhaps it had been more all along.

Between Breaths Series:
My Review of All Of You Here
My Review of Before You Break Here

My Thoughts:

I love the Between Breaths Series, by Christina Lee.  It is a wonderful, and entertaining series about three good friends in college, and their journey with falling in love.  Each story can be a read as a stand alone and focuses on a different girl's story.  Whisper To Me is the third installment in the story, and was Rachel's story.  Before reading Rachel's story, she was my least favorite of the girls.  She slept around a lot, had the largest potty mouth, and didn't seem to have any depth to her character.  I am so glad that Rachel got her story!  It was amazing, and I ended up connecting with her once I learned more about her past.

In high school Rachel tended to be quiet around guys.  She was shy, and the only people that she was comfortable being herself with were her best friend Dakota, and Dakota's older brother, Kai.  They saw a funny, sassy, spirited, and independent side to her that other people weren't exposed to.  When Rachel got a serious boyfriend, who happened to be a popular jock, she changed.  She lost herself in her relationship.  Then after being in a serious motorcycle accident, Rachel almost died, and was left with a horrible brain injury.  She had to go to rehab, and learn how to walk, and learn to do everyday tasks again.  Her boyfriend left her and she was devastated.  Dakota and Kai were by her side every day cheering her on and supporting her as she worked hard towards her recovery.  Kai fell in love with Rachel, but never told her.

Rachel was tired of people feeling sorry for her and treating her differently, so she left her small town to attend college an hour away in the city.  She changed and became the person that partied, slept around, and oozed confidence and fun.  She didn't do relationships.  Now three years later, Rachel returns home for the summer to help her mother with her business, and stays with Dakota.  She is shocked when she finds out that Kai is also back, and staying with Dakota for the summer as well.

I loved learning about Rachel's past.  It added depth and made me understand her more as a character.  I loved the strong foundation of friendship, support, humor, and good memories that Rachel shared with Kai.  These two also had strong sexual chemistry, and wanted to spend every spare moment together.  I loved the person that Rachel was when she was around Kai.  She was herself, and didn't have to put up a facade.  Kai was amazing.  His love for Rachel was strong and unconditional.  He was a gifted musician, but was a little lost in deciding what direction to take in his life.  Rachel helped make him want to be a better version of himself, and get his life on track.

My favorite parts of the book were when Kai and Rachel were together.  It was magical, and obvious that they shared a special connection.  Both of them were so worried about ruining their friendship, and thought that the other person only wanted a fling.  I wanted them to come together, take a chance, and realize how much they meant to each other.

I also loved when all the friends came down to visit for the weekend.  It was fun seeing Avery, Bennett, Ella, and Quinn.  I'm hoping that we get Dakota, and Shane's (Kai's best friend's) story next.

My Rating:

I give Whisper to Me, by Christina Lee, 4 Magnetic, Sexy, Dirty Talkin', Resilient, and Unconditional Love Filled Stars!  Between Breaths is a very fast-paced, entertaining, addictive, and swoon-worthy, new adult series!
