Book Summary:

Rike and Peyton fell in love in college.

A boy from the wrong side of the tracks, covered in ink and crooning in a bar is the last person a straight laced girl with a art major should fall for, but his rough edges made her jagged, alive, shaving away the coddled southern princess and revealing a soul wild and brilliant.

They fell in love, despite her family and his past and all the reasons why it wouldn't work--and with their best friends, they made a life. Everyone was supposed to live happily ever after. They, more than anyone, knows that life doesn't go according to plan.

Rike and Peyton fell in love in college. A boy with a guitar, and a poet's heart, and a girl with freckles dusted over her nose, a perfect fucking fairy tale.

But what happens when the fairy tale doesn't fall apart--but is forgotten?

My Thoughts:

Before & After was such a beautiful, emotional, and touching love story.  It was my first read by Nazarea Andrews, and I was blown away with how much I loved these characters, was hooked to the story line, and did not want to put my kindle down.

I highly recommend this book for those that are romantic at heart, believe in true love, and enjoy reading an uplifting story about the power of love.  The story begins with Peyton and her best friend, Lindsay, celebrating at Lindsay's bachelorette party.  The two girls have been drinking, so the go to take a cab home.  However, this ride will change both of their lives forever, because these two young women get in to a catastrophic car accident.  The accident leaves Peyton with retrograde amnesia, and Lindsay paralyzed.

The story then alternates between before the accident occurred, and after it occurred.  We get Rike's perspective during the before part.  He is the man that loves Peyton with all of his being, but she doesn't remember him; and we get Peyton's perspective after the accident with a beautiful poem at the beginning of every new section written from Rike to Payton.

Throughout this story, we learn about Rike and his best friend Scott, who grew up in the foster care system together, are best friends (more like brothers), room mates, and talented musician's.  We also learn about Peyton, and Lindsay, who is with Scott.  These four are a family to one another, and it is heartbreaking to see how Peyton losing her memory affects both herself, and the one's she loves.

Before & After was poignant, deeply moving, so sexy, and memorable.  The character's had depth, were well rounded, and very likeable.  The plot hooked me immediately, and did not disappoint.  I don't know how, but the author managed to write a story that was amazing from beginning to end.  My only disappointment was not getting closure pertaining to Lindsay and Scott's relationship.  However, my hope is that this is due to Ms. Andrews writing a sequel where their plot lines are wrapped up as well.

My Rating:

I give, Before & After, by Nazarea Andrews, 4.5 The Family that we choose, "You are not my fish, you are my sea," True Love Conquers All, Filled Stars!!!  Read this story if you are in the mood for a breathtaking, heart melting, sensually seductive story!
