Dark and Twisted Things can Hide Amongst the Purest Soul

Beautiful.
Flawed.
Poetic. 

I can go on and on…The retellings in Grim were just that Grim. Not all of them though, a few had happy endings as it were but even those contained dark twists. I’m not sure how to go about this review so I apologize in advance if it is not long enough or you feel like something is missing.

Let us start off by talking about the gorgeous cover?! I loved it so much I turned it into my new kindle cover!

The stories that lie within the pages were all absolutely wonderful! Not necessarily because of the content but because each story contained a different voice. Not only were all of the characters completely different so was their voice. Most of that surely had to do with the fact that they were written by different authors but none the less each page was as refreshing as the last. I could pick a favorite but I’m not going to because each story contained wonderful and different attributes that I enjoyed thoroughly. Originality and creativity such as what is contained in Grim should not be clumped and categorized equally.

As I mentioned the writing was wonderful and engaging through the entire book. I kept telling myself “one more story.” Once I realized the time I noticed it was three am! That’s two hours before I have to start getting ready for work. One thing I must say is that some of these tales are so dark I only recommend them for 17+. Get ready to be thrown in several different worlds ranging from castles mountainsides, gardens, space ships, schools, and clubs where each character is as different from the first. This was such an enjoyable read that I recommend it for anyone who is into twisted and dark. If you are looking for unicorns and ponies then you’ve stumbled upon the wrong book. If you are looking for beautiful tragedies and painful happiness then this one has your name all over it!
